1. They will never ever work on a bike at a 3M Car care store!!
2. The PPF is not suitable for the paint on a bike - fuel falling on it will damage it/might get peeled off/peeling it off for any reason will be a pain and 100% success is not guaranteed.
3. However PPF is freely available at car dealers and you are free to use it at your own risk!
And finally a bit news is that 3M plans to open '3M Bike Care' stores across India in the early months of next year.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
About the mileage method, I'm SURE about the mileage my bike or any of my vehicles is giving. This method cannot be questioned. It works even more accurately for bikes with manual fuel cocks as the bike will stop when it comes to reserve.
I reiterate that the reserve F meter coming up WHILE RUNNING is very accurate. I have been using it since R15 days.
If you park it on side stand, the readings will definitely differ.
And filling an even amount of fuel will be easier to calculate.
As for the full tank method, I can fill 1.5lts. More after the pipe cuts off and show you! 😁 Where does the calculation go?
This is based on my umpteen number of experiences with all the vehicles I owned.
With a car, you can go at least 3-4lts. Even after cut off.
For PPF/expensive paint treatments well, I would prefer to spend a few hundreds with Painter if any deep scratches come up.
Other quality polishes will last for a couple of months or couple of washes, that's it.
These metallic paints will not fade if kept in shade and polished once in a while.
Too much washing also weakens the paint. Wiping dust off is enough.
But these are just my opinions, to each his own! 👍Last edited by Sarvajit; 12-18-2015, 01:50 AM.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Just came across this post. Thinking of wrapping the bike in a black matte/CF combo

1. Fill up the tank to just below the filler neck. disregard how much fuel in going in or if it cuts off automatically.. the cut off happens due to a mechanism in the nozzle and this cut off can vary depending how deep the nozzle is inserted. So Just pull back the nozzle and continue filling to just below the neck area.
2. Ride around for 'X' km (say 200km on the same day, over a couple of days etc..)
3. Go back and fill up tank. Say it takes in 'Y' liters (say 5 liters)
4. Your FE is (X/Y) i.e. 200/5 = 40kmpl
After doing this a few times, you will have a better idea on your vehicle's FE.
The above calculation to know the FE doesn't require your fuel gauge to be working or knowing the tank, reserve capacities. And this is how some manufacturer's also recommend to calculate FE.
I don't think any electronic fuel gauge gives you accurate readings especially w.r.t to hitting reserve.. these are just a guideline and by no means an accurate indication. At best they are linear to an extent. On the other hand, the bikes with the manual on-off-reserve knob can be more trusted when they hit the reserve since you need to turn the knob to reserve and this happens when the fuel level reaches the lower part of the petcock pipe that's inside the tank and this happens consistently every time because its a fixed contraption that works without any dependency on fancy sensors and electronics.

The cost was 800rs and i felt it was pretty worth that money.
PPF is mostly useful on lower parts of the car like bumpers, lower area of door, side skirts etc where you will have debris from road hitting that area frequently. IMO i don't think you will need a ppf covering the entire bike !
i've seen a video on youtube where 3m guys do it on a cbr in india.. you might want to show that manager this video.
Just get a good coat of wax+polish every 6 months and you should be good. At home use a decent microfiber cloth and some thing like proklear nano for wiping the bike.
btw at the guy who got that ceramic coating, the bike does indeed pop out and looks way better than when it was out of the showroom!
and guys, whatever bike or vehicle you own, for heaven-sake do not get that shoddy 'teflon' 'polish' done at the svc. most of them use polishes that will eat a fine layer of paint and is bad in the long run.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
well i will like to ans 3 topics here, which might help you guys.
1. PPF - apply only to tank [ where you put tank pads, and sides , that's enough] + [ tail section where usually the bungee chord will touch the tail section ]
2. Petrol - always fill full tank for better economy [ slightly less than full tank, as petrol expands during heat]
3. Economy - usually you should get around 22-25kmpl max, even ninja gives around 22-24kmpl , so don;t be optimistic , get practical

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Please dont try to do the Teflon coating/waxing/rubbing on r3. The paint layer is very thin. A friends bike got the paint removed on the tank after dealership tried polishing. Ceramic/delux/cquartz coating helps preventing minor scratches and it retains the color of paint. I have done on my bike. You can check the images on Reflecton.in website. They have given 1 year warranty on the coatings.Ride Safe! Journey is more important than destination

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Had another encounter with an R3 again today. It was a friend's friend's ride and was still in the break in period, so couldn't ride. But I did get to start her once, and I noticed how it makes a small clicking sound near the battery compartment while starting. Beautiful!! Love it. Even that sounds premium.
My decision is getting firmer and firmer with these tiny encounters I'm have with the bike.
I think this is going to be my next bike.
