Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostOwners, I have a query. I am looking to buy a R3, however all the R3s I rode till today had a stiffer gear box. The upshifts do not happen with a click, rather feels very stiff, while the downshifts are perfect. Can owners confirm if this is a trait of the R3. Thanks in advance.Chinmay, brother, you really need to learn to stay satisfied with the bikes you already own ..Originally posted by Ivin View PostI have the answer. Thats because you use those Kawasakis. The gear shifts are so smooth in them and hence you feel the tightness in R3's . Coming from an R15 and riding R3, you maynot feel it. Yamaha doesn't want to make it too smooth. Thats what Yamaha has been doing all along. R3 has that click sound too while shifting. But if you shift it like you do on your bike, what you are going to find is false neutrals
Faced the issue plenty times on my few days with @krish2778 's R3. I also dint feel much has changed after the servicing as well.
But again thats just getting used to.
Now in all seriousness, i also did feel the shifts are a bit sticky(for th lack of a better term), but it has improved over time with more miles clocked in, it is almost very responsive now, thats 2.5k plus on the odo. And like @Ivin also said after having ridden my bike with him for a few days, it was just the initial few kms that had this stiffness, I guess the Yamaha branded oil also doesn't help. Maybe a change in oil would bring some change to it.
I just did a 1.7k kms ride on the R3, and it was wonderful, the effortless way it handles triple digit speeds, I mean, the CBR and Duke390 which does the same, but the R3 does it with extra grace, yeah that's the twin pot doing its magic. Mostly in highwya ides gear shifts are less, it can be lesser with the r3, the thing pulls like a charm from 45kmph in 6th gear. So very few instances only where shifting was needed, as far as comfort goes, I felt pretty comfortable, but then again, do frequent long rides, so my body is used to it.Originally posted by ROHAN SPEEDOFREAK SHARMA View PostHas anybody done more than 250 kms ride? BTW guys, the Black is indeed a very sexy color, but i have to say this, those horrendous stickers do no justice to the bike, I just had to get rid of it, apart from the Fairing R3 stickers, I removed all the other ones. I'm attaching a picture of the end result

Cheers

I've done a 350km one day, single tank highway ride. And also a 130km all in city traffic conditions.. It's a nimble machine once you get used to the Lil extra weight if upgrading from the R15..Originally posted by ROHAN SPEEDOFREAK SHARMA View PostThank for the reply. [emoji1] [emoji106]
