Sharing pics of some mods done to the bike.
1. HEL brake lines - The brakes are great on this bike already! But there is always an itch for that 20% extra and that is why performance parts are for. Got HEL steel lines installed on front and rear. Brake feel is better than stock and obviously the red ones look much better! This was sourced from Horizon Moto in Hyderabad.
2. Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 - Lot of people have found the MRFs adequate (As the brakes). But again the same story as for the brake lines - there is room for improvement. So the Diablo Rossos in Stock size (thanks to Yamaha R3 owners group for sharing details of dealer with stock size tires). For starters, Pirellis do give me lot more confidence in the rains.
3. Tail Tidy and Indicators and Number plate light - This is the saddest looking part of the bike in my opinion. The aftermarket tail tidy is from Lightech sourced from Motozone, Pune. Looks clean and cheerful. Viva Italia!!
4. Yamaha Dry Lube - This is the white lube that comes from Yamaha Japan. Although expensive, awesome quality and retention for the rainy season. SVC in Hyderabad got it on order. Again thanks to the R3OG for enlightening me about this lube. Also a note on the sprocket pic you see below. It is probably the muckiest part of the bike with all the lube and mud piling up. Would be a good idea to remove the panel and clean that area once in a while.
And finally the name's sticker (Toothless) is less for show off and more for preventing scratches to that panel!
I feel happy to report that the after market scene for Yamaha R3 is opening up. Lot of manufacturers are creating aftermarkets for the bike. Next in line are levers, zero gravity double bubble, slipon (Akra or SC). I am not a fan of the raised clipons but there is no convincing answer in the aftermarket scene for the clipons till now.
There is a lot more I wish for but writing it here feels like being a kid in a candy store. There is no end!
With time, I might end up changing everything on this bike EXCEPT the ENGINE. That 320 cc twin motor from Yamaha on this bike is extraordinary. Own it to believe it!
Till then enjoy the pictures.
Cheers!
P.S: For the respective prices, please contact Yamaha SVC, Motozone and Horizon Moto.
