I personally felt it brakes much better than the ABS equipped RC390. Many shootouts say the same.
But I don't intend to start a debate.
Bottom line: It brakes damn well. ☺
After all Yamahas are well know for its performance and good braking.

Bang on! Though RC brakes much better with ABS switched off.

Planning to buy a bag for my R3 for carrying some luggage (Laptop for office). Found the following bags interesting

1. Super 2.0 Tail bag by Cortech - Long shipping time is a downside

2. Optimus T tail bag by Rhynox - Not sure if it will fit properly

Can anyone share feedback on the above 2 or suggest some alternative

I have tried a friend's ViaTerra Raptor on mine. I would recommend it as the bungee cords fit perfectly and the bag has tie downs inside for laptop. If you like, you can also get a laptop pouch separately for INR 500. And the bag has some other provisions for pens, etc.

@All: pkhammu2005 and I had a fairly extended ride on an N300 this morning.
For those who are looking for a comparo of N300 and R3, here it goes:

Disclaimer: Pricing/maintenance aspect is not included in this review for obvious reasons of avoiding brand wars/debates.

Look and stance: N300 has luggage hooks and a 17lts. metal fuel tank. The aluminium finished exhaust is also chic looking compared to R3's stubby one. N300 feels low slung and sporty, R3 is tall and long.
Handle stance is same, but R3 feels a lot taller.
You can feel the short tail in Ninja.

Suspension and handling: Ninja feels compact. It should be better on twisties like Srisailam.
N300's additional weight is felt in spite of the shorter overall length.
And the default suspension setup is on slightly firmer side for N300, though both are adjustable

Braking: Brake play is less in R3 and little spongy for N300, resulting in more bite and confidence.
And I think the rear twin piston caliper brake of N250R is missing in N300.

Engine and gearbox: R3 seems to have better low end grunt and linear torque.
But here comes the surprise. Ninja's engine is almost inaudible at idle, and remains butter smooth throughout. And the slipper clutch makes a difference while downshifting rapidly. The gearbox works with feather touch like precision. You need to feel it to understand the difference

Verdict: So I would pick a Ninja for riding in twisties and R3 for touring otherwise.
Both being very high quality machines with adequate power for Indian conditions. I'm not saying Ninja is a better bike overall, but it will shine in certain conditions, and it should feel much easier to ride in city.
Ninja is an overall friendly machine to ride. Just that R3 is more touring oriented so it remains my pick.

But the price tag will make people deviate from the N300,.. irrespective of the refinement...you need to experience it to get the justification

No replacement for displacement.😊
R3 wins in it.

Here is the BIG update, today went to Hebbal pacer showroom as i wanted to book a bike, well the twist in the story was the final say was of that my wife.
currently i was riding my cousin ninja250 for about 6 months and it was surely not comfortable for pillion. and finally it got sold by cousin.
so went to showroom took test ride on both R3 and R15S model with wife sitting on pillion.
R3 felt very comfortable to ride and wife said she was very comfortable sitting back and didn't feel any discomfort. next took the R15S and as i already had V1 earlier the pillion seat was good but according to my wife it was not as comfort as R3. So R3 wins here.

Now the actual part , in short ride on R3 , i have intentionally took both bikes on path-holes and un-even surface , both fared well, but in one section on R3 there was slight sand with path-hole and i was in 50kmph speed, i applied brake and front wheel landed on path-hole with sand and a slight skid on front tyre felt.

Finally has to book R15S as R3 non-ABS was deal breaker. any how this purchase was not my main bike, R15S is my spare bike as i can say[now dont have any commuter bike]. now i have no plans for new bike till one year. hopefully will get ABS version
Nothing is Impossible ...

Oh man! U missed on a great bike just because of an arbitrary event. Brakes on r3 is more than adequate unless u r driving for suicide where most bikes will fail.

I think it's a mistake to book a R15 over R3. But its your money after all.

Yes, i know, but i booked R15 solely for commuting purpose as big bike i can't take everywhere , i already faced parking issue when i have GT250R and Ninja250, if you have big bike then it is advisable to get spare/second bike for all the other needs.
i am sure you guys will have spare bike/scooter like active or something, but in my case i don't have scooter so a second bike was absolute necessary, i just choose tried/tested R15 [i rode V1 for 60,000 km in 6 years].

as for R3 , i still have time till next Dec , hopefully will get that time , now no money to invest on 2 bikes at a time

It's completely understandable. Chosing a r3 for just commuting will be a disaster. Cheers to your new bike [emoji2]

I use R3 for daily commute and touring. Kept R15 and R3 together for some time. But R15 was not getting attention as I did not face any issue in traffic or parking with R3.
Yes, it got some scratches while parked in common/busy area. But thats ok for me.
R3 is more comfortable than R15(V2) for rider(me) and my pillion(wife).

The only concern for me was the weight and at 169 kgs, its pretty nimble.

I even considered of buying a scooty but thought 'hell no', I cant ride a scooty when R3 is there in the parking.
