If I was you, i won't buy Hornet now, will atleast wait for 6 months, and see if Honda takes the feedback seriously and rectify all issues.

        Safe ride

I got mine 2 days back and I really love it.... If you really need a bike soon, go for either gixxer sf fi or pulsar 200ns which both costs around 1.1-1.2 lakhs...I took hornet because I really didn't like gixxer nor pulsar. Test ride first, if any of your friends have it, ask their opinion.

Four of my friends including me now have hornet and everyone is happy with it... Only drawbacks they are saying is Chain loosing and short 1st & 2nd gears...

Guys, my travelogue of 1 day Mumbai-Saputara trip! 480 km long ride! [emoji41] [emoji16] I always wanted to do long ride where I would be riding for most of the parts!Wanted to do Mahabaleshwar ride but then friends joined and decided to take car. Surely some other time!

                First posting photos below

I live nearby Thane city area so the distance comes out to be 480 KM, else starting from center of Mumbai it would have been 550 KM for sure. So, let's get started!

Left home at 6 in morning with fully geared up and a water bottle with me. Still it was very cold [emoji302] and I was shivering until sun came out near about 7:20. It being the highway through mountains and huge plains of farms, wind was strong and chilling! I didn't wear winter liner, as it gets very hot after 10 am.Fueled up at 1st Petrol pump and started on making gradual progress at 80-90 kmph. It was very refreshing and cool air made riding very enjoyable! After almost 1.5 months, I was going for long ride. So it was special ride.

At one of the toll naka, some stone slipped below the tyre and it gave me bad vibe[emoji27] . Immediately stopped and checked both tyres, no harm! Hush.. Started ahead..Soon as Khardi-Kasara ghat area started, traffic increased and average speed dropped to 40-50ish. There were lots of trucks and cars on the way. It took surely lot of time to go ahead of the traffic and again get in stuck for next block of traffic...

This delayed my estimated time to reach Nashik city by 40 minutes. It is around 140 km from my home. And it took me almost 3 hours to reach Nashik at 9 am. That too adding up non-sense [emoji35] car drivers which honk a lot seeing a bike ahead of them even if there's no space to move around and do very aggressive overtaking. I don't like to go aggressive while on ride. It spoils all fun and judgement on highway in the heat..

Saw a group of Tigers going towards Nashik and 2 separate groups of Harley riders coming towards Mumbai. Harley riders must have started riding very early at about 5 am, considering they come from Nashik. Then more riders like Ninja, Benelli, Duke etc.Interestingly a group of riders (Duke 200, Apache 180, Pulsar 220) met me while going and as well as coming towards Mumbai that too nearby Asangaon area! In evening they were riding quite slowly at 70, while morning they were easily doing 100-110.. Must be having a hard day [emoji12]

After crossing ghat section, road ahead was almost empty so easily did 90-100 for most of the time but lot of small speed-breakers slow down a lot.. Stopped at Kamat hotel to have crispy [emoji3] Wada sambar, wow it was delicious! After a small break, started ride. Now it was time to find a petrol pump and air pressure check as it would be difficult to a decent petrol pump for further journey of about 240 km. Refueled and got pressure checked. Bike was much stable now, earlier another air pump filled wrong amount of air, although it was showing 25 PSI. Must be fauly pump. That's why my ride was little hard. Now it became smooth as much needed for rough roads ahead till Saputara.

Started in city area of Nashik to reach Vani-Saputara road. City area has lots of trees on 2nd lane of road, so be careful when riding there. Good amount of signals and cops on road ensure safe passage. Road leading out from city towards was Vani was decent for first 10-15 km, but then it started getting very rough including dangerous pot holes. So I rode safely at 50-60 with extra watch on road as it is single lane road ahead. After reaching near Vani, decided to take a small detour towards Pad-darshan of Saptashrungi Goddess Fort and returned towards Saputara road after that.

Now road became quite smooth and I was able to maintain speeds of 70-90 easily. But be careful of very small 3 speed-breakers, they don't make other vehicles jump but bikes surely get the effect. It is full of such speed-breakers till Saputara. Many strawberry and grape stall vendors were selling on all the way till Saputara.I was riding almost non-stop after Nashik until I reached Saputara. The town is clean and maintained well. There was not much crowd. Except a group of RE riders coming from Pune. I took small break at Sunset point. Relaxed and decided to visit other spots in Saputara.

Surprisingly enough, there is no proper restaurant in Saputara. Most of these are hotels, resorts and lots of food stalls. I was getting very hungry at 12:30 PM, so decided to have lunch on the way back in Hatgad where I had seen Mahindra Holiday home and 2-3 restaurants. Interestingly noticed a very strange check-post before Saputara which makes you go through a big S-shaped diversion.. They only checked cars and trucks. None stopped bikes for any kind of checking..

Had a good meal at one of the restaurants and rested them for about 1 hour including meal time. Now it was almost 2 pm and heat was becoming very evident. Checked tyres, petrol and started riding. This time decided to go in fair speed at 50-70ish to conserve fuel and not to get strained while riding back for almost 240 Km.

Shortly after some time, Activa riders started distracting me and racing against me. I ignored him, but still guy was neither going ahead nor staying back. He was riding side-by-side or very closely at 70ish speeds, which made me really uncomfortable. So, I dropped my speeds to 50ish and let him "WIN" the race :-P [emoji12] [emoji23]
His pillion was looking back at me and smirking back at me, to which I didn't give any reaction. These guys think as if we gear up on bikes we always ride fast and blah blah. This happened few other times as well...

Now entered Nashik area and started on way back to Highway. Traffic was normal again so was able to maintain speeds of 70-90ish. Time to refuel as I didn't full-up tank before. Earlier I fueled up total of 6.5 litres. After refuelling took a small break of 5-10 mins. As by now, I started getting some effects of riding 350 km on mixed road conditions. So relaxed for some time. Again checked for tyre pressure and it was okay.

Back to road again with next stop as home at 130 km. With fresh body, mind and bike started at decent pace. It was 3:30 PM by then. Soon after finishing ghat, there was lot of traffic which made riding very boring at 40-50ish. Similar to morning time. Still continued riding at spirited mode as there are lots of curves, sometimes cars leave their lane, so had to be very careful and lots of dangerous curves which one can't notice until one gets into it. I have been here 5-6 times till now, till it surprises me every time![emoji33]

Now I was near Asangaon where a CBZ Xtreme again does same racing thing to me. He was originally doing 60 with 2 pilion and I was doing 80. Oh man, he wanted to race with me. He started same moves as that of activa. By this time, I was getting very tired and bike also was running for 200 km non-stop so I was not in mood.
I did not want to loose speed either, as traffic gets bad after 6 PM. at my current speed ETA was 5:30 PM. So, I thought let's give this guy run for some time at 100 he would back off...
So, I gave throttle to Hornet and it was doing 100 in few seconds. So Xtreme was far from me now, but oh boy!! He overtook me at 110 very soon.. and I was very shocked! How in the world with 3 people this old Xtreme can do such high speed! And now all of them were smirking at me. This irritated me a lot, so I let go of them. and dropped speed to 80 for my pleasant ride. But, they also dropped speed and started blocking my way.
                [emoji35]
Now, I was very frustrated. I was like, guys please let me go, I am very tired. But, no those guys were troubling me on purpose. So gave hard throttle and soon I was doing 118-120. Now they couldn't overtake me as they could only do 115. Now I was okay, but bike was getting very hot, noisy and I could smell burning oil !!! I gave side indicator and slowly slowed down to 60-70ish and rode at that speed till home. Soon after there were other group of riders to which the Xtreme guys played with..

After all these action, I was very tired as well as bike. At that pace reached home at 5:45. Just 5 minutes late :-P

Overall a smooth and pleasant journey!

                Total distance covered 480 km
                Petrol used 12 litres
Mileage 40 km (considering highway and lots of ghat section and traffic on Saputara road) It is decent figure. Only highway ride gives 50ish mileage.

Let me know if you liked my log! Cheers !!!

vaRider, these type of clowns exist everywhere. In Chennai almost every cbr150 rider who I overtake suddenly get fired up, and zoom past me as if they are achieving something great in the process. Many times these slum boys would overtake, and then suddenly brake in front of you, just to annoy. Don't get carried away and race with them. Just ignore them totally. Just one week back one such guy on a passion thought he was a pro, overtook me and then overtook a truck without care, and resulted in the truck sideswiping him.

He fell, dragged, and lost some skin from hands, butt, and face.

Yeah buddy, you're right. I generally ignore such people. Like I did to Activa in first place. But the Xtreme was extremely annoying while such a short distance left to home.. I was being very careful though, as I know those roads are very curvy... Ride safe!

I almost got down to punch one guy once cause he was trying to race and suddenly braked in front of me, after I let him ahead, gave him a death stare and rode, when these clowns try race in the city, it makes me laugh , same wouldn't happen on a 6 lane highway tho

Yeah, that's true. It's always better to avoid road rage as nothing good comes out of it..

Problem with fights is it's difficult to predict which way it's gonna turn out. Sometimes you hit a guy ten times in the head and he comes back to break your jaw. Another time you punch somebody in the face once and he falls down and breaks his skull and then suddenly you're arrested for assault.

                                1. This is my first bike so don't know how other bikes feel coz I wont ride other bikes like I ride my own. But the overall experience with the bike is satisfactory(dissatisfied many times but mostly satisfied with the ride).
                                2. Engine doesn't feel smooth while riding but when I'm at the pillion it completely feels smooth.
3.chain gets loosened very frequently say around 300 kms.

                                not coming to the positives..
                                1. Even with the heavy rear tyre bike is not giving a mileage less than 45 which is a little less but after my second service I am getting 55 constantly which is pretty great.
                                2. looks are smashing even after 6 months of purchase getting so many stares at the signals.
                                3. Most importantly my dad sits on this comfortably than my brother's gixxer

Good to hear that you have both the Hornet and the Gixxer. Perhaps you can come out with a long term comparison of both the vehicles.

Guess you were the one who had the 'balancer' changed. I am in a similar situation too. In my earlier posts i had been referring to a 'clang-clang' metallic sound coming from the engine, for which i had complained to Honda and the service center had sent me back on both occasions saying that they have rectified the issue.
Went to the service center to have the chain adjusted last week and was informed that there is a manufacturing defect in the 'balancer shaft' and that they would replace it under warranty. Since they do not have the part with them they have asked me to leave the bike tommorow, for the part to be replaced under warranty.

Any idea where the balancer is located and what effect does it have on the performance of the vehicle. My worry is that if it leads to opening up of the engine/critical part the vehicle will be a mess.
