I agree with you. One can't expect a poorly-designed or inadequately tested engine from Honda. This engine already does duty in many tropical countries and am sure Honda must already be aware of its initial problems - and ironed them out. The first 100 pages of any new motorcycle is always full of problems - this is because one has to stick with SVC for warranty and we know these people - the moment they enter a complaint in the job card, the motorcycle is screwed by the time one collects it in the evening.

Ananda, Which Major SVC in Chennai do you service it - JSP/KUN/Didar?

Does the EVAP unit require any special/routine care?

Also, can someone please tell me the RPM at which speeds of 60 and 70 are achieved in 5th gear?

The only complex bit I find on the Hornet is the pinch bolt for the front axle. Interestingly, Unicorn 160 lacks it. Anyone knows the reason for this necessity on the Hornet?

That's pretty good. My GS does the same in 6th gear - 4500 rpm (5th and 6th are overdrives on the GS).

3rd ,4th & 5th gears are really tall in hornet which makes cruising on highways very easy.... but short 1st & 2nd gear takes its toll on city ride specially the 1st gear lasts till 14kmh only & 2nd goes till 25kmh... after that engine starts screaming but one thing is for sure once hornets achieves higher speed it holds it steadily... i have not gone past 60kmh & 4500 rpm due to my run in.

HI friends this is my first post here. would like to share my experience of my 6 months old hornet.

                    1. This is my first bike so don't know how other bikes feel coz I wont ride other bikes like I ride my own. But the overall experience with the bike is satisfactory(dissatisfied many times but mostly satisfied with the ride).
                    2. Engine doesn't feel smooth while riding but when I'm at the pillion it completely feels smooth.
3.chain gets loosened very frequently say around 300 kms.

                    not coming to the positives..
                    1. Even with the heavy rear tyre bike is not giving a mileage less than 45 which is a little less but after my second service I am getting 55 constantly which is pretty great.
                    2. looks are smashing even after 6 months of purchase getting so many stares at the signals.
                    3. Most importantly my dad sits on this comfortably than my brother's gixxer

It will get better even after 3rd service.
That stare thing still happens. On day in traffic rush I was riding along with another Green hornet (Mine is blue). Later green hornet speed up went ahead. I saw a biker was inquiring about the Hornet with him.

My observation for small 1st and 2nd gear: Let the bike roar once in while, say go uptp 25Kmph in 1st and 30Kmph in 2nd gear. It will smothen the ride over time.

Yeah, you've got to learn control of the bike in first gear. Give slight throttle when the traffic starts moving, let the engine sing, the speed slowly rises, and release it when you have to slow down, so the engine braking stops the bike to a snail pace.
It gets a bit jerky, but once I started riding my CBR like that, it got more fun in traffic. 0-25 in first, 25-40 in second.

Second service in 6months? How often should we service our bike?
Is Hornet comfortable for long rides?
Also, what is the mileage of your brother's Gixxer?

                            Need help
After getting the chain sprocket replaced the vehicle was running smooth after a week a grinding noise has arised when speed is above 40.
Got the chain cleaned, lubed and adjusted.
Still the grinding noise is present.
I am sure it is not from engine.

Any suggestions? What might be the cause.

Yup exactly on completion of 6th month,
Just followed as per the given interval, I haven't taken a ride more than 120 kms a day and didn't feel a bit tired while riding and finally my cousin brother's gixxer also gives around 50-55 mileage which is the case with my bike.
