• Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

Its time for the oil change again. I was using mogul 5100. Now planning to go FS (motul 7100 10w40).

After how much KM should I change the oil if I am using 7100?

If you downsize, you will get more power and mileage from your bike. Only downside will be looks[emoji39]

Your ride quality goes up. Bike becomes more nimble in traffic. Sprockets life goes up. Brakes might become a bit soft at rear. Front remains the same.

Top speed depends on the new tire profile. If u can get130/80 profile tire, you won’t lose anything. But not sure of such profile tire in market.

I have researched this using the gearing commander site (I have added the specifications to the site if anyone wants to check).

The gearing becomes slightly shorter and the top end reduces with a 130/70 tyre.

130/80 increases the top speed compared to stock.

Of course, this is all theoretical.

Duke1990 - this still won't help you in achieving a 110kmph cruising speed, for this you need a bigger engined bike. Even at 100 I feel the engine is strained. Sweet spot for the Hornet IMO is 85-95kmph.

Be aware that 7100 makes the bike feel rough and aggressive (at least I felt that with increased urges to accelerate hard). IMO it suits the character of the Hornet.

It should last for around 4000-5000kms max.

Guys please watch this video i had same issue

even when in neutral bike stopping like this ,
some times gear is slipping , i have to move bike a bit front or back then gear is working.
some times while in 30-40 i am completely disengaging engine by clutch and down shifting to 1st gear and i think clutch still rubbing something and making sound like krrr krr like it was rubbing to some rotating part , i am not giving any acceleration through,
and when i turn my handle complete right engage between clutch and engine going off like it's in neutral but not getting any movement , this was happen after my bike fell down but service center guy tole me nothing is there

Since u r talking about gears.. Let me tell u one unique problem (atleast I think so).

Whenever am upshifting from 4th gear, its going to neutral.
It rarely happens and also, most of the time it happened when I accelerated fast.
Not sure it happened for any one else .

Hello Friends,

Finally got my Hornet yesterday evening in striking Green Colour (Std Variant) .

I have received the New registration receipt no thru SMS from VAAHAN, however i am yet to receive the Registration No from Mumbai RTO.

Any idea if we can check our registration no thru VAAHAN or any other website using the registration receipt no/ Engine No or Chasis No.

What is the time limit/KM limit to ride bike on temp no?

Upgraded from Yamaha SS 125 to Hornet 160r.

Thanks in advance.

Amit

Thank you... I thought it might adversely affect my bike.... But what about handling corners...

Pilot Street 130/70 R17 Tubeless Bike Tyre.. costing ₹4800... I am not happy with the tyre... its fat
good grip....I look good on the bike.. bt the weight is just killing it...

Bike gets nimble with slim tire. It means it will be more agile in corners. Only downer will be slightly less brakes (rear) and that too minuscule. And looks for some people.

Mileage goes up.
Agility is up.
Pickup goes up.
Torque goes up.
Chain life goes up.
So many advantages with slimmer tires.

It will fit easily. The FZ16 rim can accommodate a 140/60, 140/70 and even a 120/80 tyre, hornet's rim being similar in size should be able to fit 130/70 with ease.

You will lose some top end though.

I am putting a small section rear tyre, still i will loose top end ?
I have to travel a lot as i have two or more projects "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", building toilets at Villages. most of them don't have proper roads.
The stock tyre has so much weight that it robs the performance of the bike.

The smaller tyre affects the gearing too (you can check the gearingcommander website). The fat stock tyre also makes the gearing slightly taller.

• Help needed to upgrade Honda hornet 160 front brake !!!

Hie guys . Proud owner of Honda hornet over here . The bike is fabulous but the initial bite from the brake isn't there . The feedback and stopping are awesome .
So i wanted to upgrade front brake . I have ordered a steel braided line for front brake . But also i am looking for other feasible options like changing fluid master cylinder ( can anybody help me with that ) . What will be the cost and of what bike should i use ?
Also can i upgrade disc size (Honda ones are connected to via 5 screw to the wheel hub) ?
Can someone please enlighten me ???
