The part I don't like in gixxer sf in terms of look is the straight handle for a bike having fairing which looks ugly in my eyes.
Mileage is a real advantage of hornet,if you drive in range of 60-65kmph..then also you will get mileage of 45-50+ for sure. But, in my case on highways mileage is reduced to 38-42 as I drove the bike 85-90+ constantly.
I would suggest you to choose your service center wisely after your purchase,as they are responsible for issues arised afterwards.

    Cheers.

I am getting mileage of 52-55 kmpl as i am driving very sedate. Gear shift are smooth except upshifting to 2nd gear.

Any suggestions on how to maintain matte color of special edition... for carbon fiber part i am using dashboard dresser by 3M.

      Thanks in advance

If you are riding 35Km without rush of traffic. Hornet is fine choice. Driving on good road feels great with it.
However, if there is quite traffic condition, smaller gears for 1st and 2nd will be pain.
Though, I agree that given the price factor of 1Lakh you can look for other options.

In, term of quality, Lookswise it may not feel sturdy but I believe design and material are very good. I skid at 60Kmph recently. Gots lots of bruises but, literally nothing happened to bike.
Moreover, As my experience, this bike take quite a time to get smooth. Gives you glitches in beginning of months. But after 2nd even 3rd service you will feel it is getting better and better.

              Hello all,
I am getting knocking (tic-tic) sound in my engine when idle in neutral between 2k-3k rpm...
It varies to 3k+ rpm when in gears...
Is anyone having the same with their bike..??
              What should I do??

Sound comes in both engine heated and cold condition...In cold engine it is more as compared to heated engine...

Go for gixxer sf fi or tvs apache rtr 200 (fi) or pulsar 200ns 2017 or bajaj dominar 400(if you can afford it). There's no more reason to buy a honda after the emergence of really good bikes at reasonable prices in the market.
Hornet is not suitable for highway because it is not that fast while the other mentioned bikes are faster. Advantages of Hornet are mileage and handling.

You'll get mileage yes, but here are what you'll get as bonuses: vibrations, back pain and wrist pain. The seat of hornet is warped. The level part is pretty small. This is what happens to me every time. I try to sit comfortably, but due to the slope I keep sliding forward. The friction always burns my groin and....ahem...my sacks. It also causes my pants to ride up. I get back pain sometimes after long rides. Engine also gets pretty hot.
The throttle of this bike is quite stiff. The same twist on other bikes gives more power. In this bike, you'll have to twist more to get that same acceleration. Most daily commuters know better than to hurt their wrists unnecessarily. They only give so much throttle. It's kinda natural. As I said before hornet has a lesser acceleration at this same throttle, it actually allows the bike to gain speed steadily and slowly conserving the mileage.
So twist more and you may invite wrist pain. Try going at 70 or 80 and you may experience an "augmented reality" of an earthquake.
This is my story, others may beg to differ. If you're still going with this bike, try not to have regrets later....

Okay. From testing riding I felt so comfortable on this bike and four of my friends have hornet and they never said any complaints except chain loosening. And am planning to have this bike for not more than 5 years, as I will be going abroad which makes me consider the resale value of honda bikes. Anyway thanks for your advice.

Test drive is always good because the vehicles you test drive are not driven that much once you start driving, you will feel the pain, I too brought hornet keeping exactly the same things in mind as you. But unfortunately Honda this time is not Honda.
And mostly these issues are seen very common if daily commute distance is around 65 odd and road conditions are not that good.

Okay. I did test drive on my friends 4 months old hornet. Hope I don't face issues like this. Let's hope.

Hornet is not comfortable on bad roads because of somewhat stiff suspension. But due to stiff suspension handling is excellent on good roads. It is not uncomfortable on good roads for medium distance journey(70-90 km for me) as I have found out for the 4600+ km I have covered till now. Long journey had been tiresome for me on my previous bikes Honda Unicorn and Yamaha RX 100 also.
