If you want a bike with

1)Good mileage in its segment.
2) Eye catchy Looks
3) Good pillion seat
4) Honda's reliability.
5)Good resale value.
6) Smooth engine ( not so smooth nowdays)
7)wide service network.
8) CBS breaks, which is life saver for me 2 times.

Then,
Hornet is bike for you.

I find following problems, some problems I'm facing these days.

1) Handlebar vibrations.
2) Less peakup In initial rpms (it is not actual problem, for me)
3) stiff suspension.

So I'll understand what corrections can be done if only my unit/batch was faulty.

About highlighting good things
1) Awesome 4K+ RPM
2) Highway stability at 80 speeds
3) 3rd onwards very smooth shifting
4) Fat tyres very good for leaning
5) Good braking response

So if above points attract you to buy Hornet, then go ahead and buy it.

Have fun! Decision is yours based on all the feedback.

Hey guys I have a sudden mileage drop in my bike it was giving me around 45kmpl after third service it suddenly dropped to 35 I think the air filter is clogged what is the range to change airfilter have anyone experienced it before ?I've done 7500 in my bike and it's 6months old took it to couple of long drives

People who are looking forward to buy it just do it .It's a really good bike I personally had a great time in it .If u are planning on taking it to long rides tryon a custom seat cover the stock seats are hard.

Replace ur bulbs with better ones and there is no space for a bigger battery in hornet so I think a head light bulb change would be sufficient

As per manual, the life of air filter is 18k. But you should change it in every 10-12k kms. COst of filter would be less than 250rs. You can check the condition of air filter by removing seat and 4 bolts.

The LED takes less than 2 Amp current. And auxiliary should be ideally used only when you're running in dark area/highways.

If you want them to be always on, better install LED 40W KTD bulb. It doesn't put any strain.
Above setup costs only 800
And auxiliary 1300

You may go with combo as well

It's been more than 11 months now I bought red Hornet and 5850 on odometer.

Following are my observation and experience till now:
1) Very poor headlight
AC makes it even worse when riding slowly
Planning to install auxiliary 2 LED lights 27W each on leg guard to get good illumination

2) Stiff suspension
I mostly ride solo so bike really runs very rough and jumps on bad patches. Planning to soften it in 3rd service.

3) Vibration
Bike Vibration horribly between 65-85. But it accelerates very strongly as this is power band.
Little more BHP and lesser torque could've been really helpful for highway rides.

4) Short 1 and 2 gear
1st gear can only do 12 without screaming and to keep it below 5K RPM. 2nd goes till 25 where it screams again.
This makes it very hard to ride in bumper to bumper traffic in Mumbai.
One needs to constantly keep on shifting to ride at 10-15 kmph.

5) Hard neutral
Even after riding so much, gear shifting is very hard for 1 and 2 gears.
Bike goes to Neutral many times while downshifting to 1st. As it needs extra pressure to drop down to 1st, one needs to pay attention there. This can be very fatal in tight situations.
Many times indicator shows neutral but bike stays on 1st only. So while parking and in traffic, need to use clutch else wheel gets blocked.

6) Chain
Chain gets loose very frequently and lube flings out to rear number plate as well as on chain guard.
The noise of chain is very irritating.

7) Engine
Engine is super punchy at all times which makes it tough to ride in slow traffic or one needs to use clutch.
FS oil should be used for this super compressed engine. I'll try this after 3rd service.

8) Lack of engine kill switch
It's need is felt in traffic where one needs to play with key to shut down engine. Not acceptable at this price range.

9) Rear break feedback
The rear break has long Freeplay, which makes one to press it harder.
CBS ratio is more of 70:30 rear: front.
So one should use front break to stop earlier.

10) Mirrors
Edgy shape of mirrors reduces visibility. Should be square/oval shaped for this. But considering character it looks good. R15 has very nice rvm.

11) Mudguard
They should be little longer, as bike gets very dirty in rainy season and gets dusty other times.

12) Lack of foot rest on Saree guard
In country like India, this is a must thing. At least if not factory fitted, accessory wise it must be made available. It was a lot of trouble in early days of ownership, as no compatible foot rest was available. And I didn't want to have it welded.

13) Higher pillion foot rest
Even 5'6 height people find it troublesome to sit on rear seat for long time.

14) Far out side indicators
Indicators are placed much outside of main body which causes great risk of breaking them down.

15) Rusting
Earlier batches had lot of Rusting issues. It was to such a great extent that it felt like bike is few years old.
Had it painted from ASC after following up with Honda CC.

That's it for now. So see for yourself before buying it.
vaRider sir, thank you for the feedback. No, I am not planning to buy the bike but one of my colleague wanted to buy it. I was little skeptical because it is over bored version of unicorn150, and merely over boring doesn't makes bikes better because there are loads of problem due to it. One common problem is the engine refinement. We know how smooth the legendary unicorn150 is. Hornet is no where near that. Secondly, as your said, high compression ratio is not preferable when you have other bike with low compression ratio.
No offence to other owners. These are just my views.
We all are here to learn and share our knowledge..

Go to any bike accessories shop and ask for fz or Splendor I smart footrest. I've personally installed Splendor ismart footrest costing rs.90 and 10rs for bolt and clamp. You can also get it in any hero showroom or service center.

I don't think Hornet has an overbored Uni 150 engine. Instead it is Uni 160's engine in a higher state of tune.
Hero's Hunk/XTreme are Uni 150's engine in a higher tune though.
AFAIK, Uni 160/Hornet engines are based on a new/different platform. If you look at the engine block, gear box , everything looks different between the two.

The product was so bad that i use to service it once in 3 months and change its clutch plate, carb cleaning and what not, still it had issues of vibrations, handling and mileage to name few. Those were terrible 5 years of my biking experience. So usually its a faulty product/ batch not product line.

Coming to point, Recently completed my 2nd service. My mileage had gone down from 58 to 48 something ( rough figures ) so i asked ASC to check for it. After service i have noticed the pick up has decreased but rest is fine. I use liqui moly speed tech benzine for alternate tank fill ( 500 Rs/ Bharat petrol pump, 50 ml per fill). This product has given me ultra smooth acceleration and clean sound.

Also regarding gear shifts, The bike goes neutral on single tap form second even when in speed (~35-65 km/hr mostly). I have tap twice or little hard to go to 1st. is this common in honda? or is there any problem. My friend has Yamaha FZ his bike neutrals only at slow speed (~10 km/hr or less). I really find it annoying in Bangalore traffic.

I really want to change my head light a soon as warranty finishes, any suggestions on this. Also where in Bangalore i can put wrap/ decals (any professionals ) on my bike.

After servicing i realized the service leaf has service checks behind it. Can any one post photo of the second service checks ?. I'm unaware what has been done to bike.
Can you please throw some light on Liqui benzene additive?
