The real difference is after running for around 20 kms crossing 60 kmph and maintaining there a few minutes (around 5000 rpm), the idle climbs up to 1900-2100 rpm
But the engine feels a lot peppier after this.

Am I facing an issue here, and had any one else here encountered similar situation?

Thanks for the reply in advance.. :-)

      Congrats Ram Prasad :-)
Next time when it happens try to reduce idle till 1500rpm. Adjusting idle should always happen when engine is hot.

My current Idle RPM is 1000+ for cold start and around 1300 in hot condition. I adjust it according to weather condition.
Make sure to start and left idle or with little accelerator for 20+ sec while starting in morning. It will give you super smooth riding from start.

Exactly the same with my bike
1000rpm when engine is cold and around 1300 when engine is warm
It was idling at 1500 rpm when I got the bike
          But I decreased it

Hi Guys, Both Unicorn 160 and Hornet 160 have same Mono-suspension setup or is there any difference between them? Also are they adjustable?

              They're the same. They're 3 step adjustable.

Hi guys. Thank you for accepting me into this community.
I bought the Honda Hornet 160R which is 4 days old now. At the outset I would like to say that I'm entirely new to the 150cc segment. I don't know anything about bike maintenance except to give it for servicing regularly and ofcourse, washing it. If I can be taught on how to check air pressure, tensioning in Chain.....etc or shown any link where I could learn these, it would be much appreciated.

Coming to the main point, I find that my bike reaches only 15 kmph in the first gear and similar lesser ranges in the subsequent gears. I understand that this is quite possible since the bike is new, but my doubt is this. Will this range increase? There's a video on comparison between gixxer and hornet in YouTube where one can clearly see the rider on the Hornet shift to second gear only at around 30kmph. Does it get better as I ride more and more? Are there ways to increase the in gear range?

Hi guys checked thE FE again in Bangalore traffic, clocked 281kms for 7.11ltrs which is average 39.5kms. Any advise on how to tune the carb for good FE and pickup.? I still have the lag feeling(like no fuel flow) between 5~6.5k rpm.
                    slow down.

I've tried carb tuning in my Unicorn 160. Though it wasn't a success (eventually got it through some unexpected stuff), I can tell you that the procedure given in the extreme/hunk thread by Sibun sir applies to our bikes as well. Carb tuning takes time and a lot of patience.

Air pressure can be manually checked by seeing how much the tyre squeezes when the vehicle is run, but its an inaccurate measure. A better way would be to get a air pressure gauge, a non electronic will also do.

Pushing manually, the lower part of the chain should have a horizontal play of no more than 35-40mm, if there's more play, then the chain needs tightening. In rare case that the play is less than 25mm, then you need to loosen it.

In the initial 2000 kms, or as recommended by manual, you must not push a vehicle beyond certain rpm's for too long, for a good ownership and service experience. So, don't push it too hard in first gear.
Most bikes of this range do a 40 kmph when pushed till their redline in 1st gear. But that's not recommended. You may shift at 20-25 kmph, but after the initial 2000 kms of run-in.

The card-boards in front of the engine is to prevent water splash on legs? Won't it overheat the engine

You can reach 49 kmph max in first gear by redlining . engine will scream if we try to reach higher speeds in first gear
