  • Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

From my earlier posts, I can confirm now that after the last week rain, my bike has lost the pickup. Earlier traffic negotiation was very easy but now i have to twist the throttle more to gain speed. Experts guide me what can be the possible causes and how can i fix it ?

Can we get this done in SVC? I purchased Honda shield for total 5 years, so don't want to ruin it.

And whats your mileage in Bangalore traffic??
Same here, I have taken the Honda shield since this is a new engine and my previous unicorn got seized at 64k 4th year, didn't wanted to take chances.

Regarding FE, did a reserve to reserve check after filling for 500bucks and got 269kms which is like 38.4kms/ltr in Bangalore traffic with no speed restrictions. This week I'm on a restricted run below 70kms/hr without sudden acceleration, so once bike goes to reserve I'll update you how much FE I got.

Had no choice but to ride it to work anyway as otherwise I would be late. Thankfully no glitches faced on the way but I think I need to go get the wiring checked. Hoping it doesn't happen in the evening while leaving office *fingers crossed*
Was your bike covered in heavy rains? SVC said water won't cause any electrical damage.
Even when I was riding bike in heavy rain my passing light took some time to respond, after few seconds. But it worked well.

For once get your wiring checked.
        Happy riding! 👍☺

Where did you get this xbhp logo? Looks cool 😎

I get 45-50 mileage on 70-80 kmph highway riding! 😁 Seems good I think.

Nowadays I don't care much about mileage. Enjoy riding! 👍
          Just ride gentle and smooth

Yep, will sure as hell get it checked. Don't want it acting up at the wrong time obviously.

I contacted SVC about this and they asked to me visit. Let's see what they say.
I checked at SVC today. They said all Hornets are rusting! and they said it'll go away after a while.
And headlight can't be replaced even with Honda's 35W H4 that comes with CBR250.
Warranty will get void and they won't check any electrical wiring at all.

So, I'm very much shocked with this response... When I buy another new bike next time, I'll check battery and headlight first. At least 6 Ah and 55W H4.

              Very much disappointed...

Today I noticed that bike is running very rough and lots of noise was coming. My service is due next month, should get fixed by then.
Also, at one time, there was sudden drop in engine pickup just like when fuel goes reserve. But I had 3 ltrs of fuel. Very strange.

Rusting can be seen only on parts where paint has been damaged.

I use to keep the disc brake lock here the paint is damaged due to that .

Not sure what happened here only 2 out of 7 bolts developed rust.

                How to prevent this?

Just did it at local stickering shop near by. There is one more in the other side with different color. Will share the snap tomorrow since I've not taken it.

So in short, are we stuck with 4 Ah battery with which we cannot upgrade the headlight or fit auxiliary lights without voiding the warranty?

Even I find pickup drop at 4th and 5th gear between 5~6.5k rpm, feels very hard to get pass this rpm level.

Sadly yes we're stuck. KTM allows modifications as I know and they provide 12Ah battery as well. Nowadays even phones come with 5Ah batteries. Honda should look into this..

Lol. Next they may launch bikes with otg support so you can start bike with your phone.

Simple reason manufacturers don't put bigger batteries - to save weight and cost. Initally, the cbr250 came with 6ah battery in 2011. In 2012, they switched to 7 ah. However, since I love honking, my neighbors kids love honking, I got a 9ah battery by doing some juggad.

PS : CBR250 headlight is 60/55w H4. And it's not adequate when blinded by traffic.

It's not about starting bike with OTG 😂 just compare the price

                              Hello Fellow Hornet owners,

I have been following the thread since I have planned to get the bike (well, I went thru all of it before buying the bike ) and it helped me a lot.

choosing the bike was easy than choosing the color :-)

and finally took the bike two weeks back.

Have completed around 600 kms and will be getting first service soon.

Will come up with more details soon..
