I agree with you. Actually, Hornet is one of the best affordable Hondas we have after Splendor and ZMA/R. Only the switchgear is a let down. At least, they would have provided the Unicorn 150's switchgear. As for spares, most of us don't have a problem in getting the commonly replaceable items of Gixxer/GS. I just hope the new 160 cc engine proves Honda's worth. One main reason I stayed away from the 150 cc Unicorn is its bad reputation with regards to piston ring/oil consumption - many owners who looked after their Unicorn as their babies had to suffer compression loss too early. I personally don't prefer CBS as it is not DIYer friendly as we don't have any workshop manual to guide in servicing it. But if one has read the braking thread in "the art of safe driving" he doesn't require CBS.

      Hi,
See at the start of the week you will find red and orange as a flashy and eye catchy colour ..
But it is the general tendency of the mind - once the mind sees repeated things again and again it gets used to it ..

Similarly for a week orange might by flashy but then it will eventually look common ...
Bcz in Horner white , black , orange this are the most common colours sold out ..

And you are just 25 years old and not 35 or 40 that you can't go with red or orange colours ..

I mean you are at age of 25 and you are taking a naked bike ...
      So common ...
Dark blue looks dull for sure ... Sometimes you can't figure out the difference between dark blue or black ...

But black is a common colour these days ...

        1) a change of handlebar, or if not complete handlebar then change in degree of inclination(please throw in advantages/disadvantages).
        2) seat.

Please throw in your inputs. Thankyou.

You should never go for a handle change ... As the handle is made to suit the ergonomics of the hike ..
Change in handle bar would eventually spoil the look of the bike ..

With respect to the seat , the default stock seat is pretty hard to bum [emoji13]...
You get Honda seat cover as an original accessories .. After putting that it gives you a much better comfort as it has got a little layer of soft foam ...

Horn has been changed in my Honda ...
As you know in rainy season - car people have their windows panes up with loud music .. So they don't even bother to look in side mirror sometimes and don't even bother to listen to someone hornking or have some deceny to leave space for biker ..

            Great .
Me too bought an metallic orange bike ...
That's the colour which tries to make the bike different ...
Even red also looks good ...

              Guys
              I had a question ...

Has anyone done touring on Honda hornet 160r ?
If yes then please specify the details of the ride ...

I have friends who has got ktm duke 390 and rc 200 and they have done touring ...
At once even I wanted to take one of those and go along them for touring - but at the end I realised I would prefer to take a flight or my car in order to save my ass for such long distances .

Recently they are asking me to take a ride from Mumbai to Lavassa which is like around 280 km average one way ...

So was wondering to do it on Honda hornet 160r .
Has anyone done it yet ?
Have they faced any issues while doing it ?
Any engine heat up problem ?

The bike can be ridden for long distances. It's the rider who should take breaks in between riding. Just make sure your bike is in perfect order.

Completed 100 Km on my new bike (odo reads 111) ...received registration slip and number plate yesterday only...honda people said permanent rc will come in 2 months and number plate was fixed at the honda showroom only and not at the rto office.... Bike seems very smooth and stable at low speeds as well as high (by high speed i mean 60-70).

                  Now my queries:
                  1. I am still not able to bring bike to neutral from 1st gear. It jumps to 2nd when i push up and then i have to shift down slowly to bring it to neutral. Only case i am able to bring it to neutral from 1st is when i kill the engine.Shifting in higher gears is very smooth.

2.Today after a short ride i stopped and changed to neutral. I got the green neutral light also but when i relased the clutch bike stopped with a jerk. Appears that it was in 1st . I tried the same a few times and it repeats randomly. Is this behavior normal or do i have to get it checked.

                  3. The heated engine smell is now gone but tick tick sound after stopping the engine still exists.

Apart from these issues bike is very good and loving my ride with it.

"Tick tick" coz engine was hot and you stopped the bike. Its coz the exhaust pipe/manifold cooling off. 😁

                      All of this is normal.

The gear shifts will be better after 1st service.

That tick tick sound will be there and it is due to the compression of metals during cooling.

                      The bike has no problems.

Actaully this is good, otherwise I am facing issue to accidentally bringing to neutral in heavy traffic. But, yeah it should come to neutral on careful shift.

Yes this is normal one .
It too happened the same .

After the first service the gear will be smooth ..
But still I do face it same sometimes ...

It's very light lift for neutral better way to do it put it in second and then go to neutral .

It won't affect your gearbox or your engine in any way ...

Anyone faced free kick. Too smooth that it seems there is no load on kick. But once, there was this smooth kick and bike had started .
                            I faced third time today.
Day before, I ran bike in heavy rain and left as it is. Today morning when I tried to start from switch with chock on , it refused to start in 2 tried. Then I tried using kick but it was too free to feel if it engaging the engine.
Then again, I tried switch and I able to start in few attempt.

I guess you too faced the no compression problem. The kick goes freely without any resistance.

Gear shift will get smoother after you ride it. For now ride in city traffic so that you shift gears frequently. If you ride bike until it gets warmer, gear shifts will be very smooth.
                                It'll go away. Don't worry.

Even at 2800 km, sometimes my gears are hard until bike gets warm. After that extreme smooth! 😎

I took 100+ km long ride in heavy rain. No issues regarding performance. Just ride in 40-60 limit unless you know road really well.

Passing light button didn't respond due to water, but high beam switch worked. After pressing passing light 2-3 times, it worked well.

And engine sounds really good in rain. Bass! 😎😁
                                Ride hard, Ride safe! :D
