Yes, it's very normal. I also found it with my previous bike (yamaha gladiator) when i was at home later, though never heard before in the entire ownership, may be the place was little noisy. It's audible at closed or comparatively silent places. So, nothing to worry at all.

The smell in your case is most likely due to burning of new paint on the engine, it will go away after some use.

So I had my Hornet pressure and foam washed. I asked the guy not to wash chain too much. So much pressure may damage chain.

Then I bought Motul C1, C2. Sprayed C1 over the chain 2 times. Left it for 5 minutes. Then gently wiped it by dry cloth.

After few minutes, lubed using C2 uniformly and slowly 2 times. Now bike will rest till tomorrow. While lubing I pressed the nozzle very less so that extra lube doesn't get sprayed.
      Took overall 20 minutes.

If you want chain diesel washed you can get it done from any washing facility. Costs 100₹. Normal washing 60₹ in Mumbai.

BTW, I noticed chain makes a lot of noise may be because it's open. What do you say?

@Above modification: Looks too much of addition. Plastic at top of headlamp (Don't know what it is).
Original silencer design is better than this one.

My bike's second servicing done after 3.2K.
I complained about rough gear, it's resolve now. After servicing bike is now more smooth with lubed chain

I've seen that Hornet in Bangalore. The exhaust note was much better than the stock. That place, Moto Adda is quite famous for customizations and is also the Indiranagar base of wickedride.

That plastic on top of the headlamp is the visor. Helps deflect some of the windblast while cruising on the highway.

It is recommended to keep varying RPMs. You can go higher into the rpm range, but do it slowly and do not maintain constant speed for more than 5-10 minutes.

                          Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum. I recently purchased Honda Hornet 160R CBS version Metallic Orange colour.
I have driven it around for like 850 km and have even undergone first servicing at 650 km.

There are certain issues for which I need your expertise ?
                          1. Recently it was raining heavily , so I needed to rev my bike a bit hard . The moment I crossed 83 Kmph, there was a sudden cut in the petrol flow. I mean I was accelerating but then there was a sudden drop in power and at that point of time I was in my last point of petrol - Was it because of the low petrol that the bike didnt allow me to accelerate above 83kmph or is it something else ?
                          2. How do you figure it out when you bike has come to reserve ? The last point is the indicator or the last point is the indicator ?
                          3. The piston makes a little grimming sound during 3, 4 gear within the speed range of 35 - 52 kmph but once I am in 5th gear at a constant speed of 60 kmph the bike goes pretty smooth... but then again it makes grimming piston sound above 68kmph ? What exactly is the problem ?
                          4. As per the manual of honda , this bike requires 15W40 synthetic oil... but during my first service where they charged me 850 Rs (Compulsory Oil Change Honda Genuine Oil 10W30 - 310 Rs Chain Cleaning - 200 Rs Chain Lubrication using 3M - 250 Rs Labour Charge - 50 Rs and the remaining tax), Honda Service Center used their Bike Change Oil which was 10W30 .... Is it because of the low quality synthetic oil which is causing the sound in the piston ?
                          5. I am not able to shift properly into neutral from my first low gear... I mean sometimes I am and sometimes I skipped directly into second gear ... Gear Oil needs some change .. This is actually my first bike with such gear pattern ...
                          6. How do you turn on the hazard light ? Does it require a separate accessory for it ?

I am a car guy mostly.. but this day due to heavy traffic in Mumbai city... I started to prefer using bike for my commutte....

So guys please help me out with the above problems...

                          Hi brother,
Great to see such modifications you did this to your bike .

But I have one question to you - Why do you need an engine kill switch ?
What sense does it make to install one because to me either way to kill the engine you need to press a switch ?
Because either way to start the engine back you need to press the ignition key once again...

I dont mean to offend any of the bikers who thinks an engine kill switch is a must ... But its just I have seen people reviewing hornet having a disadvantage of no engine kill switch ....

And seriously bro it requires gut to cut the original wires and do such modifications to your bike ....

                            Hi!
I guess the above situation you have described is when your bike actually went into reserve mode and hence the sudden drop in acceleration irrespective of the speed. Would advise you to ride as slow when you anticipate that the bike is low in fuel or is in reserve mode.

When the last dot on the fuel meter display keeps blinking is when the bike is the tank is low on fuel but you can still go ahead for 25 - 30 kms more.

When the bike gradually stops - it will make a sputtering noise and slow and halt completely thats is when you would realise that you have to release the fuel knob into reserve mode. The reserve has about 1.7 litres of fuel.

Please avoid such situations as it would be very risky if riding fast say on a right lane.

If you already have the fuel knob in reserve mode and then continue riding then ensure you tank up soon.

                              @CyaniD3:
As per manual Engine oil should be 10W30 . I think it's on page 40.
Bike may have lost power because water may have went inside the silencer. *Or bike went into reserve

                              Engine Kill switch:
                              1. Useful when you are at traffic light, you can just press a switch and immediately turn on without, have to lean to key.
                              2. If you approaching to stop you can stop the engine in advance to save fuel.
                              3. In case of accident, it's easy to kill the engine to avoid too much skidding of bike by driver or other person. It may be helpful to avoid further injury.

It's a nifty feature and Honda should have added it.

                                3. what do you mean by "grimming" sound? Or did you mean grinding sound?

                                4. As per manual bike needs 10W30. From my experience 10W30 is useful for winters while 10W40 is very much needed in summers.

They have used mineral oil in your bike, which is understandable since you've covered very less kms in your bike.

                                5. This is because your bike is still new. As you ride more it'll become easier. I don't think there's any gearbox oil used unlike gearless scooters and cars.

                                6. AFAIK there's no hazard light. You can enable the parking light (I think that's what it's called).
