Anyone from Bangalore can tell me where to buy some kerosene?

    Try diesel. Works pretty well

      Hornet has a normal chain.
I don't think using Turpentine oil is a good idea because it is the same oil which is used to dilute oil paints.
It may be bad in the long run.

      Kerosene>Diesel>chain cleaners>wd-40/zorrik.

Which is the replacement chain as mentioned in the manual?

And check the chain from the rear, as John said you can see the O-rings if it is an o-ring chain.

Why all the trouble to source kerosene, use toothbrush and paddock stand to lube a bike chain is beyond me.

For my 250, I just take a clean cloth, dip a finger in gear oil, and clean the chain on the exposed area between the front and rear sprocket. Move the bike forward, and repeat. 5 minutes job.
The proof this works is my chain is currently on 28000 kms. And will last for 3000 kms more at least.

In Bangalore chain gets dirty very quickly. Even 1000-1500km with a full chain cover the chain gets dirty. Sometimes very difficult to clean with a cloth alone. The brush we use to agitate the sand and other particles after the kerosene helps in degreasing.

Time and space also another factor here.

                  Normal chain.

LGB is L.G.Balakrishnan and Bros, also known as Rolon. 132 is the number of links. 428 is the pitch if am not wrong.

Happy to see a lot of discussion and enthusiasm in Hornet. Honda nailed it (except for the switchgear).

Yup, it's a normal chain. Unicorn 160 has the same chain but with 126 links.

Exactly thats why i went for Diesel. Yes It give same result as kerosene and cost less + easily available.

Is this issue solved. My bike is new with around 50 Km total. Yesterday i rode it for 10 KM with slow speeds mostly on 1-3 gears in narrow streets. After some time i was smelling the heated iron and once stopped the tik tik sound was there from the engine.

                                It's normal.
The sound comes from the catcon of the bike.
Hornet is equipped with BSIV compatible catcon which operate at high temperature like cars.
