It's better if you lube the chain and leave it alone for some hours (I do it in the evening) to allow the lube penetrate the chain. It reduces the flinging of excess lube also.

I saw the pictures again. That's a lot of lube. I too think you overlubed it.
I overlubed my chain once, and the next time I checked the chain cover was sticky and had a lot of debris (around 1cm of sticky black substance). It was a pain to clean the chain cover though my rims and other surrounding areas were protected from the fling.
You've cleaned it well though.Last edited by Shashank K R; 06-19-2016, 07:49 PM.

Using kerosene.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostHow did you clean your chain? I used Motul cleaner but it lasted only for 3 cleanings and it's expensive.
Sprayed it all over my chain and scrubbed with a toothbrush.
Sprayed some more kerosene and scrubbed.
Used and old rag to wipe the chain.
Repeated the process again.
And finally washed with a low pressure hose and mild detergent to remove kerosene and suspended grime with it.
Wipe dry the chain.
The chain was very clean but it is not visible in the pictures due to my poor photography skill and bad phone camera 😛

Idk. In my case it's bare minimum. Only when i wear helmet and ride on that rev range for long time the sound comes.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostThat sound was very prominent even with my helmet on the highway when I went for a ride yesterday. It was abnormal as it wasn't coming before.
But it didn't reduce performance or cause any problems, so I guess it's not an issue.

Hi Sasi,Originally posted by Sasi View PostHi Everyone,
This is my first post
Thank you all for such a wonderful forum where first bike owners like me can get in touch and share my experiences and learn from more experienced guys out there.
I own a RED Honda Hornet STD ,
Bought it on 15th April
I have completed first service today after 730 Kms and was charged rupees 344 for the same , oil was removed and Honda 10W30MA was filled.
First of all , i absolutely loved the experience of the bike.
Pickup was very good, i could feel the powerfull engine
I clocked 80-95 kmph constantly for first few days
The highest speed being 117 on a open highway.
But, after a few days i began to get some strange noise when riding above 60-80 kmph
At first i thought it was because of chain and tightened the chain.
but the sound continued few days after getting chain lubed and tightened .
Informed the service person about the same during first service , he said it was because of dry chain .
I have to see whether the noise is now reduced or not.
The bikes suspension seems to be a little hard and can feel the the hardness when riding over speed breakers
I am getting 43-45 kmpl mileage . It may improve if i maintain a constant speed
I have bought accessories from a store .
500 for seat and tank cover
400 for leg guard
130 for ladies foot rest
50 for handle grips
Now after going through the forum
i want to know following
Is there any way that a Engine kill switch can be installed in HORNET ?
Can i install a new switch gear set of any other bike onto HORNET ?
Is there any way that headlights power can be increased or replaced with more powerful ones ?
What kind of Engine oil has to be filled ?

Can you post some more pics of the Tank cover. I like to show it to my local cover guy to make one like this.
Thanks!!!

Few owners have got the switchgear of pulsar 180 installed on their Hornet.
But doing so will void your warranty.
Hence, It is advisable to wait till the warranty gets over.
