Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I think then bumpy road may cause this, reason for my guess is that when you ride little faster on bumpy roads your suspension travel is more and hence the chain tightening & chain loosening due to the up/down movement of suspension. Frequent gear shift may not be an issue at all, as long as clutch release/gear engage is smoother. Also sudden rise in throttle also is cause for chain slackness.Originally posted by Motomonster View Post

It may be so and I think I should learn how to properly use gears.how many times have you adjusted chain slackness? Other owners also reply .please.Originally posted by wdrwilfred View PostI think then bumpy road may cause this, reason for my guess is that when you ride little faster on bumpy roads your suspension travel is more and hence the chain tightening & chain loosening due to the up/down movement of suspension. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Friends,
Can anyone explain the step-by-step procedure to clean & lube the chain.
What things you need & what all needs to be taken care. Also what brand lube oil & cleaning solvent ?
Raining in Bangalore, this evening ... little worried as there is no chain cover. I had this thought before even buying this Hornet.
Is it not problem at all ? Am I just over thinking about it ? But I see in this segment most of the bikes do not have chain cover. Plz someone share your thoughts/experiences or link to relevant thread...

Lets cut it shortOriginally posted by RoyalIndian View PostIts so difficult for me to decide between the Hornet and Gixxer.
I love the reliability and aesthetics of the Hornet but love the performance aspect of Gixxer. Need some guidance from you guys.
Buy gixxer for -
1. If u want strong in-gear acceleration
2. If u want to some really race or adrenaline
Buy hornet for-
Honda's strong engine reliability and service network
Less maintenance costs than suzuki
Some serious cool looks and an engine which loves to be revved

You should probably check chain lubrication thread on xbhp.I have cleaned Chain once In 1450 km.I just passed water on it and used an old toothbrush with a bit detergent on it .you can use either kerosene or diesel or motul chain cleaner. For lubrication you can use SAE 90 gear oil or any lubricant spray. Lubricate chain atleast once in 500kms and early if rainy and dust conditions.
Not even once have adjusted. Even in 1st service only clean & lube only done.[/QUOTE
How many kilometers have you done? I have got it adjusted twice.

I will try this weekend to clean. But boring & tedious process also time consuming. But no other choice.

well from what i saw in svc and did with my x cbr
, through youtube as well as xbhp , there are 3 simple steps to follow - always do it with ur bike on dbl stand
1. Put your bike on double stand - clean the chain using a clean(not dirty) cloth while moving the rear wheel anti or clock wise.
2. Now start your engine - shift down to 1st gear - while the rear wheel is moving spray chain clean (i use Motul C1 ) , how to spray - plz refer to the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdFWY4ILj78 -
and yeah we dont need to remove the rear fender.
3. Again clean the chain with a clean( means clean
) cloth - after done with your cleaning spray Motul C2( for lubing the chain ) , again plz refer to above video for the process.
!!! Voila Your done with your chain cleaning + lubing - thats all i know.

In your statement lies your solutionOriginally posted by RoyalIndian View PostIts so difficult for me to decide between the Hornet and Gixxer.

Select a bike as per your riding style and requirements.
>>>> Go for Hornet for a matured relaible and rather high revving engine (post 6500rpm it is a maniac). also you easily can get ~45kmpl on it. low end is not very good but mid and top end is very nice
>>>> Go for Suzuki if you need more fun to your ride... It does return a fair mileage ~42kmpl. with lots of low and torque traffic mobility is awesome than Hornet with adequate at the top end (tho it feels a bit stressed)
Rest assured Hornet looks far better than Gixxer. I kept that for the last coz looks r subjective
Honestly I have ridden both bikes and I personally own a Hornet ; Gixxer is more fun Honda is more reliable.
ALL THE BEST.

[QUOTE=Motomonster;1217249]touch and gently press the open part of the chain. it should have a movement of ~3-4 cms. any thing more than that it needs to be tightened... if chain is loose dont give throttle bursts coz if chain is loose it can come off.Originally posted by wdrwilfred View PostIs the chain loose ? take care

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Got Number Plate slip today, need to visit RTO for fitting on 21st. The showroom guy said I can freely roam anywhere until 21st as I have the tax paper now. Is he correct ?
what are the rules for pollution paper ? Do I need one despite the vehicle is brand new ? It's BS IV as well
Also, I'm having problem riding it at 2nd gear, it turns off at low speeds.

The dealership should give you a small PUC that states its a brand new vehicle.Originally posted by kumars View PostGot Number Plate slip today, need to visit RTO for fitting on 21st. The showroom guy said I can freely roam anywhere until 21st as I have the tax paper now. Is he correct ?

When you say low speed, what km/hr are you doing?

By PUC, did you mean that small slip stating "non polluting vehicle" ? If so, it doesn't specify anything else, it has some fields like chassis no. etc. but all are blank.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostThe dealership should give you a small PUC that states its a brand new vehicle.

About speed, I didn't notice but it was about 10 when I'm at speed breaker or at traffic

Yes that small slip. Its sufficient for 6 months. If atall feel uneasy, you get one for 40INR at one of teh Omni vans!Originally posted by kumars View PostBy PUC, did you mean that small slip stating "non polluting vehicle" ? 10 is too low for 2nd gear. Ideally you wanna be at 15. Dont bogg the engine just to stay within the 4k rpm engine if you are in the break-in period.

Okay, I was just slowing down at speed breakers and traffic because it's not good to ride on first gear.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostYes that small slip. Its sufficient for 6 months. If atall feel uneasy, you get one for 40INR at one of teh Omni vans!
