Shashank - What exactly will happen if we use mineral after fully synth?

• Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

The engine may not be able to cope with the reduced lubrication. You'll immediately feel the difference in terms of roughness.
But for this to happen you need to synthetic oil for a long time, that is the engine would have got used to the lubrication of a fully synthetic oil. Eg. An Apache RTR owner shifted to mineral after using synthetic for around 15000km. He could immediately feel the difference in smoothness, and the engine got hotter than normal.

+1 .I use mineral in my 250 after 20k kms on Honda Throttle. My engine heats up slightly faster, but smoothness is more or less the same. I can't hear the engine idling in traffic. Reason I switched is to find out how long mineral lasts.

This is one beautiful machine from Honda. Checked it out at the showroom today. Upon enquiring the sales rep said that accessories are separately charged and are exclusive of the on-road price. Is that true ? If yes, what accessories are we talking about ?

1432 kms... long time

This is official link to hornet 160R accessories, price not provided. I would recommend to buy the leg guard only from honda, for other accessories you also check at outside, if you can get better product or deal go with them. I have bought all the available accessories but did not like the handle grip and seat cover. I have changed grip cover 2-3 days back it used to hurt palm some time, i also feel the seat cover is not well padded for the still suspension must of us feel, get custom seat cover if possible.

On another note check the image in above link it shows the trigger instead of hornet, wrongly updated.

Thank you responding. I guess I'll be good with only the crash guard assembly. Now, a more important question which is a kind of concern for me(personally speaking), this bike is equipped with 12v 35/35w electrical. Is that AC or DC ?

It is AC lighting.

That's sad. I thought Honda made an overall progress but doesn't seem to be the case. Will the battery be sufficient for DC mods. Please pardon me if I'm posting questions in the wrong thread.

Hey friends as you all know i got my Hornet on Mahashivratri and now my first free service is due but i have only clocked 300kms so shall I go for free service? or let it be?
Already received two calls from showroom regarding service pending. Will i loose free service if I dont give it now? also is it worth it loosing it?
any do's and dont's for first service?

It's partly ac and partly dc. Most electrical components like pilot lamps, pass light, instrumentation cluster, pass light, tail light etc are dc except the headlamp which is ac, but i think you are looking at the head lamp and it's ac.

Not sure but it will depend on what you want to do with it. As per some online sources the capacity is 44 Ah, current is 4A, voltage 12 A. So, any equipment of approx 50 watt will run i think while the vehicle is on. Not sure though. Anyway you can upgrade the battery if needed. Better to swap with dealer if they are willing to take the new battery and provide higher spec with some discount .

Yes, you may loose it and it's not good to skip or delay the first service. There are reasons why the manufacturer has specified the first service is to be done within 500 km or 30 days while rest are at 6000 km or 6 month. If you are not doing it, you will loose warranty and subsequently extended warranty. Also you may be in the process of damaging the new engine.

As you might be already knowing, the vehicle and engine are newly developed . So, you can't ignore the possibility of manufacturing defects. In this cases you may be in trouble. We see recalls from many reputed brands now and then. So, it's not worth taking that much risk for now.

It will cost you around Rs 300 only and take 30 min of actual work to do this service, primary being oil change and washing. Do it as soon as possible, if not done so far.

Hey guys, got one doubt! in the fuel meter, is it already in the reserve when the last bar starts blinking? or is it in reserve only when we turn the fuel knob to reserve?

I think it is 1000 kilometers or 30 days for the first service, whichever comes first. Nevertheless, in most cases, it is absurd to miss the service. As satyajit rightly points out, it will only cost around rs 300 and around 30 minutes.

I was checking my Fuel Efficiency and after filling in 3.27 litres exactly at reserve, the last bar has started blinking at 70 kms. if i take my previous mileage figures into consideration, i had got 50. if i go by that, i should hit reserve again only by 163kms. so is that normal? does it start blinking this early?
