Completed first 700kms today, as shown in the image above two bars in fuel meter are still there, i have used one tank fuel and 1ltr other so far, looks like it will returns very good FE. If running continues at this rate i would do 1500 kms a month i.e. 18,000 kms a year. In my previous bike i did 30,000 km in around 7 years. Enjoying the ride very much. There is only one day on which i did not ride it and in this time i have drove car only once.

Last week end the CRM of honda service center called up to enquire how the bike is doing after the service (i went for service on 21th of this month). I am very happy with such gesture, i never got such response from service center of my bike (Yamaha) or car (VW) ever. I think this differentiates popular manufactures (like hero honda, maruti, hyundai) from others.

While i was at showroom today to enquire about my registration status, i show a blue color hornet 160R and found some rubber kind of thing inserted to the structure above left side pillion foot rest (circled in above image). Could not get what is this used for and what's role of this structure, my bike is not having it. Is it to tie goods on seat?
That's very good mileage.you mean to say you filled 13 litres in total and done 700kms with atleast 3 litre fuel available. It equates to 70kmpl which is very hard to believe ,I got best 56kmpl in city.

No, my last reserve came at 261 km, after that i did tank full. I am expecting around 55 kmpl. Will do another test once the reserve sign comes to check FE after first service.

AFAIK switching from FS to mineral is not recommended buddy. You can switch to SS. Or else you can change it to Honda FS.

Change it to Honda throttle FS 10w30, for more responsive engine and slightly better mileage. Personally, I've changed my oil from FS to SS to mineral, without any problems. It matters more which grade you use than the type. FS has the advantage of longer life and better lubrication. That's it.

It will also suggest not to go from Synthetic to mineral.

Can you please tell why to want to go from synthetic to mineral? Have you faced any issue with synthetic oil?

                        Hello Boys!

Here is my experience with my all new Honda CB Hornet 160R. I own a Neo Metallic Orange CBS. Bought this bike in chennai JSP Honda, Anna Nagar, Chennai. I have clocked 4254kms till today.. Before this bike, I had CBR 150R. It's a foolishness to compare these two bikes. But in some aspects Hornet is better than the CBR. In that the major one is brakes. I loved the brakes of CBR 150R. But this one excelled that. This brakes are awesome. I bought the CBS variant. So I don't know how the normal variant performs. The three pot caliper in CBS variant at front gives a great bite and spectacular feedback. Once I decided to go with naked street fighter, i took a test drive with the other two bikes the gixxer and fz v2.0. Till i saw hornet in the showroom the fz has got the upper hand in my opinion. Reason, FI. Even though Gixxer feet peppier than FZ, I loved FZ. I have been using fuel injection bikes since 2008. Switching back to carb is a real pain for me. Once i saw the hornet i just left everything behind. That much awesome the bike was. Kudos to designing team. The only problem with hornet that everybody states is the switch gear. I am least worried about that. Because i was using Honda CBR 150R which doesn't even have a Pass Light. As you know the bike looks stunning and muscular. You have plenty of color options to choose from. i Chose Orange because the first bike registered in my name was a TVS Apache RTR 160Fi(Orange) then CBR 150R (Orange). Never had any accidents. So, mentally i got attracted towards Orange. But this Orange is different. This bike shows more than one color. while its in shadow, it looks like brown. My mom says that this bike is Honey color. Yummy color!! then the orange comes out only when the sun or the lighting stucks the pannel at 90degree or close. Apart from that, the bike's engine is the sweetest motor in its class which is mated to a slickest 5-speed gear box. No clunky gears, no false neutrals. Fueling is spot on. The carburetor does perform well. Now and then I do have doubts that I am driving a fuel injected version of hornet. That much precise the fueling is. No back fire, no hick ups. I mean even in cold starts. The tires provide excellent grip. No matter on which road you drive. The front wheel is wrapped with 100/80-17 MRF NYLOGRIP ZAPPER FYM on a 2.5" Rim ; the rear wheel with 140/70-17 MRF NYLOGRIP ZAPPER S1 on a 4.0" Rim. I hope these are soft compound rubbers. the tire tends to grip much better after riding the bike for 15-20kms. that shows how fast the tires take up the heat. Brakes are excellent. CBS is awesome. Stops the bike definitely one step before you think. Apply the rear brake, it well automatically apply the front brakes too. Its so well equipped that it will apply only 30% of the force which you apply on the rear. Now everybody who is looking forward to buy this bike is confused whether to take STD or CBS. CBS is not about the rear disc. Its all about the Three Piston Caliper which does some excellent duty in front. 3 Piston caliper for a 142kg motorcycle with 276mm petal disc. Now, the typical Indian part. Mileage.. Before 1st service i got around 48~53kmpl. At 1st service i changed my oil to Honda Throttle. For the past 4yrs i have been using Honda Throttle for my CBR and i am completly satisfied with it. After 1st service, the mileage got boosted up. now i am getting 58-63kmpl. 58 is the least number which i get in city. i get around 62.7kmpl in Highway. I did a continuous 300kms drive without stopping the bike at all. The bike felt extremely comfortable. never had any issues. The ride quality is bit on a stiffer side. I feel so. Because earlier i was Using CBR 150R which has the softest suspension in the market. The front and rear suspension are stiffly sprung. The rear suspension has two springs. Like spring-on-spring type. Though the rear suspension can be adjusted, I don't think it's necessary. The bike feel well planted with the stock setup. The bike comes with 15/47T 428 pitch Rolon chain which is a standard open chain. An o-ring chain would be a great welcome.. The headlight is powered by a 35/35W bulb. the stock bulb is of cheap brands like Phoenix or Life. I changed it to Phlips. It costs Rs.304 in ASC. But still the headlight throw is not adequate. The headlight is powered from AC generator. The X shaped led tail lamp is unique and powerful... Handling is pretty easy and precise. The wider handle bar take very less effort from the riders shoulders. It changes direction very fast. The service interval is too long. 1 St service below 1000kms/1 month. 2Nd service comes at 6000kms/6 months. 3Rd one at 12000kms/12 months. That's it. Yearly twice. That makes your pocket feel very light. Hence there is no reason to stop you people from buying this beautiful machine..

                        1. Safest Motorcycle in its Segment.
                        2. Largest Disc Brakes in its class.

In the cons part, there are only two major points to mention here.

                        1. Headlight throw is not adequate.
                        2. The bike comes with only 4ah battery which makes it tough to upgrade to any HID or HID Projectors. So if anyone is planning to change the Standard Halogen bulb after purchasing this bike, be careful.

I am looking out for a Good Branded LED Projectors. If i find one, I will definitely update here.

Finally a big Thumbs UP for Honda CB Hornet 160R

                        Wear a Helmet, play safe.

Very good review.you have clocked a lot of kilometers ,in comparison I have done just 1650 kilometers in 100 days. Has the bike smoothened along with kilometers and also how is suspension compared to cbr150r?
I own the standard version and now I think I made a wrong decision .people are praising the brakes of CBS a lot and standard version doesn't have good bite.

Hi Ezhilan, Congratulation on your new acquisition. Welcome to xbhp forum and CB Hornet 160R owner's club, photos are looking very good. I also own the hornet with same color, it's standard version, i also wanted to go with CBS version but it was not available in this color and had to wait for 7 days or more. So in excitement of having the bike and considering my sedate driving style i took standard version, i feel the break are descent thanks to the wide tyres and brake set up.

I also feel that if you press the rear brake with high pressure it skids even at 5-10 kmph speed, but applying same gradually or knowingly does not happens.

Since you were a CBR 150 owner, i would like to know from you how you see the performance difference between CBR 150R and hornet 160R, though i know that they belong to different class. I have posted a comparison here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ml#post1219141, i felt honret is more value for money than CBR.

Is your suspension still feels stiff after around 4000 kms? You may need to do some tuning, my suspension felt softer after first service as i complained about it.

You can switch to mineral, provided it's not been too long. Since you've run the bike on synthetic for comparatively less kms, it's fine. It only affects your bike when you use synthetic continuously for 5000-10000km or more.
