Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
The bike almost always jerks(gives a stalling effect, like when you release the clutch too fast) when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It makes my ride less smooth and enjoyable in traffic. The jerks are relatively lesser in the other gears. I still haven't figured out the right way of shifting, although i have at times shifted perfectly without any jerks(but I couldn't get the trick when I tried again looking for some specific manner which eliminates jerks). Also, I'm more and more inclined to think that it's first gear is too short(i even get the feeling that it gets shorter and shorter day by day). It's kind of an irritation in traffic when you don't wanna constantly keep switching between the first two gears, but your bike wouldn't give you anymore traction beyond 4k rpm 😒
People who describe it's gearbox as "butter smooth" are best suited to address my inconvenience

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Even I find shifting up in lower gears jerky. From 1st to 2nd, clutch control (very slow) might help a bit. From 2nd to 3rd, going to higher rpm and shifting is slightly better. When you are with a pillion, it feels much better.
In traffic conditions if you consider the bike as a basic commuter one and accelerate(slow acceleration), it feels better.

Adjust clutch lever free play. Set it to 8mm between the yoke and leverOriginally posted by Santhosh Lakshmanan View PostEven I find shifting up in lower gears jerky. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
1st and 2nd gear are too short. You need to figure out to the sweet spot. Didn't checked the shift for 1st/2nd RPM. However, after 3rd, change gear beyond 4.5k. Shift from 4th to 5th at even goes over 5K. This shift for me to completely smooth and almost negligible.Originally posted by Suddy View PostThe bike almost always jerks(gives a stalling effect, like when you release the clutch too fast) when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I've tried 4 distinct freeplays between 10 and 20mm. For my hand size, around 25mm seemed perfect. And there was no jerk at that freeplay. But it was beyond the limit specified in the manual. All other freeplays had some jerks. Had to settle for 19mmOriginally posted by Jith_in View PostAdjust clutch lever free play. Set it to 8mm between the yoke and lever

Also please check the chain tightness. If it is too tight you will find it difficult to ride in traffic. Always maintain proper free play in the chain. Please do those adjustment in experienced local mech. Honda service center is totally waste...Originally posted by Suddy View PostI've tried 4 distinct freeplays between 10 and 20mm. What if it's too loose? And why would it be difficult to ride it when it's tight? 😶Originally posted by Anicto fdo View PostAlso please check the chain tightness. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If chain is too tight with out the rider definitely the back wheel will not rotate freely when we spinning the wheel by hand. So more friction results worn out chain sprocket easily and if it is too loose obviously there is a loss of power transmission. The result is low mileage and less power.Originally posted by Suddy View PostWhat if it's too loose? And why would it be difficult to ride it when it's tight? 😶

When the chain is too tight you will find little jerking when you do up or down shifting for first two gears especially in the heavy traffic.Originally posted by Anicto fdo View PostIf chain is too tight with out the rider definitely the back wheel will not rotate freely when we spinning the wheel by hand. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yesterday I was riding on highway and Hornet couldn't do above 100 kmph. On Saturday, I could easily cross 110. How could this happen? 😓
Is it possible due to low oil? On Saturday, oil level was okay..Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Hi Everyone
Just now bought home Cb160 CBS version...every thing is ok...but while riding in pot holes or on speed breakers a weird sound like TUKK TUKK is coming from suspension. Immediately went to service centre but its already shutdown time no one was there..but 1 mechanic said that its because of new suspension and it will b rectified in a few km automatically... any one experienced his type of issue ? Plz suggest...
Thanks in Advance. Will post some pics tmr....Drive Safe

I think there could be several things affect speed wind direction, inclination. Today 1st time I tried and reached 105Kmph easily with some juice left, also pillion was there.Originally posted by vaRider View PostYesterday I was riding on highway and Hornet couldn't do above 100 kmph. Take to ASC if problem persist. Yes, shock absorber is stiff in beginning and will go softer in few month of span.Originally posted by sri.rtr160 View PostHi Everyone

I am facing this issue with my Hero Honda Hunk.
Any input would be valuable. Not getting answer in Hunk thread.
Thanks.

I gave it for servicing. They recommended for carburetor change for 5K.
Problem:- Almost getting switch off at low RPM, I have to pull off accelerator to high to get it alive
- When I am going to stop the bike, when I disengage the clutch, RPM suddenly reached very high because of above issue. When I leave the accelerator fully it comes back to normal idle to 2K. (Which I had set high)
- Engaging the clutch after disengaging seems like it lost all the power.
Here is what mechanic told
Is this is ultimate solution to change carburetor?
I am in Hyderabad in Lingamaplli area, Could you please suggest good local mechanic for second opinion?------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I checked engine oil level today and it is same as on Saturday. Even on decline it was not going 100+ easily. Possibly chain got loose after Saturday's bumpy ride.Originally posted by vaRider View PostYesterday I was riding on highway and Hornet couldn't do above 100 kmph. Has anyone tried Motul Hybrid 10W30? FS 7100 10W40 seems overkill. Any suggestions or recommendations?Ride hard, Ride safe! :D
