Hello everyone. I bought my bike (Hornet CB 160 R CBS) on July 22nd 2016. Since day one, the bike is sounding rough and while riding there is a sound just like the diesel auto trucks, only softer. the sound comes when trottle is applied and the engine is pulling me and the bike forwards. what can this be? not at all smooth compared to other Hornets. took it to SVC several times, all they ssay is that its normal and that the hornets and the unicorn 160 sound like this. I am fed up of this sound, feels like I am riding a tractor.

Anyone please tell me how do I edit my profile info. thx.

Is it sound you don't like or riding smoothness. Yes, bike sound odd so does the Duke like pouring water in narrow vessel .

Sometimes if air fuel ratio isn't quite right, the engine may sound rough. ask the mechanic to try changing it. for temporary means, you can adjust it yourself using the air screws in the carburetor near the kicker. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I feel that this bike accelerates quite slowly. I mean, people riding a splendor or a passion easily overtake me. Its only when i move on to 4th gear does this bike give a decent pickup(and that's when I'm able to whiz past them, when there's enough road left). Should i be opening up the throttle more? At low speeds, i already feel that I'm opening up too much to get some acceleration.....

That time will tell. Dont believe in anything you hear from people. Enjoy your ride.

thx anoopkumar for your prompt help.

the sound is there, more pronounced after riding for a few kms and when engine has warmed up. along with that there are vibes creeping in with sync to the "kat kat kat" sound.

bike has run 1650 kms 2nd service due on friday ( day after tomorrow).

Adarsh. if you buy Gixxer.. same people will say you could have gone for rtr 200 :-) . so ignore them and go with your heart. I am riding hornet for 6 months now. believe me its a reliable machine. ofcourse with few hicups like poor headlight, lower end performance etc(i wont mention switch gear because. what we have now servers purpose).
Gixxer on other hand is fun machine. great lower end punch, good switch gear. Hornet is balanced for youth and also little mature people who does care about reliablity, fuel economy and a good pillion. Its you who have to choose your best fit. good luck.

Exactly right said mate!
Recently I took bike on 650 km 2 day trip and bike performed really fantastic! 😀 had lots of fun!

Bike was very stable on highways and stiffer suspension helped on speeds above 70 on rough roads. It literally glides above rough patches! On the same road other bikes were running at 40 and I was doing 70-80!!! 😎😁

Headlight was poor when riding at morning time, but then used low+passing for that much time... And followed car in front of me.

I easily maintained speeds of 80-95 all the way and occasionally spike to 105!

Just make sure tyre pressure is 25/25 then suspension won't new trouble...

Dual disc and CBS gives good bite, though sometimes I used front in addition on straight road.

Leaning on curvy road was super fun and bike gives that confidence! Superb experience!

PS: Hornet gave mileage around 45-50. Approx figures based on fuel usage.

And yes, I was fully geared up!

4800+ km till now. Soon planning to switch to Hybrid Motul.

Adarsh, sales of hornet is good. Looking trend, I think it will be a success.

Yes it will a success, sales are growing at my place steadily. The bike handles very well, I do most of my riding in traffic, and on hill sections, on the latter roads its a charm to be on a hornet. But I sometimes feel the streering is a bit too eager to go into a turn & the bike goes into a curve much earlier than intended. Otherwise I think its very slick..cheers fellow Horneteers!!

KnoXxX my Unicorn 160 feels the same as you're describing your hornet. It isn't smooth as other unicorns/hornets. Instead it's rough and makes all sorts of sounds. Along with that mileage hovers between 35-40. This all started after first service. Couldn't get it fixed even after complaining to Honda multiple times. Disappointed with my ownership of unicorn 160.

Shashank, very sad to know that you are in the same boat as I am. Does I make sounds like the con rod bearing has given up? Mine sounds something like that, whenever power is put via the trottle. like, "kat kat kat". Very hard to ride under these conditions. Feel very let down..SVC said its normal sound for hornets and Uni160. How can an engine made by HONDA sound so bad, like something has broken and is hanging loose inside? how? how?
