Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
[QUOTE=Saurabh213;1218167]This is very much same as tank full method, as we have the precise info on fuel put and kms run, this approach is used for bikes as bikes stop on reserve also it's not generated by system (It's even present in Hornet manualOriginally posted by Satyajit Mohanta View PostYou can also check by tank full method.
Try it once it.
).
Tank full is used mostly in cars, as there it's difficult to note the km at which reserve came exactly and vehicle only shows warning on reserve, it does not stops on reserve. Also, we don't do tankful in bikes mostly, but in car case we do and this time i am not sure of the fuel as the filling people try to rounding thing, if it's not precise, values will not be correct.
I don't think i will do tankful again, considering fuel price fluctuations and my usage. From safety point also not good

[QUOTE=Satyajit Mohanta;1218180]Yes rightly said! For bikes best is to check reserve to reserve & it is for cars that we check full tank to full tank.Originally posted by Saurabh213 View Post

Driving style really matters. Looking at your driving style your's FE is normal.Originally posted by Zeit View Postyeahhh maybe... !!
my riding style is in speeds of 75 to 90.. and once a day till 115+ speeds

- Most of the guys who are fond of achieving best FE have a tendency to up-shift the gears at very low rpm. This will only kill the engine performance also will not get the best FE. Most importantly, then what is the fun in getting a bike in this segment.
- Another thing is that, when red-lining before each gear up-shift again the reliability goes down along with FE.
- To my opinion, with Hornet, it is best to limit the rpm to 7000 in highway (with every upshift @ around 5.5-6k rpm & cruising @ 7k rpm) as in highway performance matters & not mileage.
- Whereas within city better to upshift @ around 4-4.5k rpm to get the performance as well as mileage (cruise @ ~ 55-60 to avoid frequent braking).
- In traffic condition, will have to apply brakes very often (also frequent gear shifting) if tried to drag race. Wear & tear (brake pads, tyres, drive chain ....) will be more in this driving style. Moreover no time will be saved. No safety & putting others on the road also @ risk.
- Hornet segment to my opinion is for who prefer all in one package with nothing to complain.
Again it all depends on the rider's choice. If drag racing is prime intention this is not the segment altogether. R15, RS200, Duke or CBR ... could be the choice. I heard these bikes are capable to cross 140+ speed & so easily cruising speed can be around 100.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
yeah riding style matters as well as traffic condition too, if you have to shift gear within seconds then no matter how good your riding style is its still get what you shud have. anyways as kms increasing the bike's becoming smoother n smoother, im facing another issue - while applying rear disc a "sneaching"sound is it normal ? also, the chain is getting loose after 500-600kms, is this happening with you people or not ?

Yes my chain is also getting loose in 500 kms.I enquired with other people having different bikes ,they too said that chain should be tightened once in 400-500 kms.Originally posted by Ayns View Postyeah riding style matters as well as traffic condition too, if you have to shift gear within seconds then no matter how good your riding style is its still get what you shud have. anyways as kms increasing the bike's becoming smoother n smoother, im facing another issue - while applying rear disc a "sneaching"sound is it normal ? also, the chain is getting loose after 500-600kms, is this happening with you people or not ?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes chain should b checked for slack every 500 kms.. also check if lube is required...
Brake pad screech sound is normal. In cbs variants.... the sound comes when some dust tends to settle in the contact part of pad and disc... every time i wash my bike it sort of goes off.. only to come back within a day.
Altho the brakes bite r still good... i will check for pad's surface wear on second service
Check for brake oil and brake pads on your second serviceLast edited by Zeit; 03-19-2016, 01:00 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Is that sound coming after overnight rest ? Does it come momentarily & goes off after few braking & 1 or 2 km run or does it come every time you apply the brake ?Originally posted by Ayns View Postthanx moto , guys what abt the sneaching sound from rear disc when applying brake, a little help :|
I am not hearing any such sound in my bike

When you say the chain gets loosened in ~ 500 km, is it that chain is touching the swing arm ?Originally posted by Motomonster View PostNo idea ,I own STD variant.just tightened no cutting.
