    Thanks bro for reply,

mostly i will ride between 60 to 90 kmph in topgear.

Will that harsh feeling of upshift bother me after run in period ?

Is it alright to use choke to start bike in the morning ?
      Read mixed responses hence clarifying.

If temperature are cold its better to use use and leave your bike for 30sec to 1 min for circulation of oil ... But u must close the choke asap after 5-10sec... This is what i know

Yes, but don't make a habit of it. The bike usually should start in the 3rd or 4th kick off done right in cold weather.

              Hello Everyone,

I have been following this thread from a long time
and found the replies very helpful, Thanks to Admin and all members

I got my first bike Hornet 160(Standard) black from Gurgaon, last week and feeling awesome .

              Now my question is:
Currently i lives in chandigarh and want to drive my bike from gurgaon to chandigarh (Bought bike from Gurgaon due to local documents issue )
and have not got RC and number(security plate). (Showroom manager/agent will be processing for these)

              1) So can i take my bike to Chandigarh OR i have to leave it in Gurgaon and wait for all documents & number to complete and receive?
              2) How long will it take to receive registration and number?

              • Tyre pressure?

                Hi Riders,
Bike says 25-25 (single), 25-29(pillion). But many mechanics said, it should be 28-28 and 28-32 respectively.
What's the expected air pressure? Isn't larger tyre supposed to have more air pressure?

How to check if headlight is angled properly?
                Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

hi bro. no you wont feel it.
FYI in breakin period.... do not cross the 5k rpm mark. in top gear it results in ~60 kmph
i occasionally took it to <70kmph speeds ie ~5.5k rpm. Try to keep the bike in a stable/uniform speed ; do not be too enthutiastic.
this will help in a smooth engine break-in.. Goodluck ride safe

                  About the annoying sound
                  1) From engine - near the piston shaft there is a rotor type pulley whose settng was changed ; that resulted in a SURRR type sound from engine.
                  2) from the front suspension- it is a setting in the coneset and the front bikini fairing... make sure it well set.. coneset should have minimum play.

                    Hi All,
I got my bike yesterday. I have done 261 km so far. I went to see the honda CBR 150 but found this new bike on display there and liked it's design, style. Took test drive later and found engine refinement, performance to be good ( in comparison to my previous bike 2009 gladiator). Overall happy with the experience so far.

FE looks to be very good, for this size of the bike. In my last test it has run for 64 km so far and the reserver sign is yet to come. I think it will go over 70. Very happy about it, it's more than expected and considering the fact that the engine is new, i drove mostly on the 5th gear in this part as it was highway and within city also traffic was very less.

On the other side found to seat to be hard, though feels soft on touch or it may be the suspension, rear was hurting after 30-40 km of continuous drive.

                    Hi,
I have doubt on this procedure of constant RMP for engine break. Yesterday i checked across multiple websites and they don't recommend uniform speed also they suggested to drive in multiple rev range and to occasionally redline for short period.

As per the honda owner's manual it says not to use full throttle during the run in period. Not sure which way to follow, i am following the multiple rev range way so far.

Please share your view on it.

                        Congratz on your purchase.

The hornet does have stiffer suspension, thats whats causing you the discomfort in long rides

As for engine break-in, I am not sure what Zeit meant by stable uniform speed, but you should be varying the RPM and use engine braking along with shifting through the gears as much as possible for the first 500km.

Never redline, donot cross 4k RPM for the first 500km. No hard throttle, neither should you baby your bike either. Ride it normally. Theres absolutely no need to look at the articles on the internet. Follow what your user manual tells you.

If you observe carefully those articles are directed towards high capacity performance bikes usually 600cc+

Went for long drive Bangalore to Chennai & returned back (342+342 km) this weekend. Here are my experience.

Bike had already completed 1431 km before start of this trip.

                          Bangalore to Chennai (Saturday):
                          - Started @ 3.15 am & reached @ 9 am. So temperature was cold for the full trip.
                          - Went mostly @ 75-85 kmph. few times @ 90kmph (90 kmph came at 7000 rpm)
                          - Took a break 3 times each of 10 minutes and 4th break of 20 minutes.
                          - Mileage: 50 km/l.

                          Chennai to Bangalore (Sunday):

                          - Started @ 9.15 am & reached @ 3.15 pm. Temperature was very hot.
                          - Went mostly @ 80-90 kmph. Once tried for 100 kmph (100 kmph came @ ~ 7750 rpm)
                          - Took a break 2 times each of 15-20 minutes. & lunch break of 30 minutes.
                          - Mileage: 47 km/l.

                          Overall experience:
                          - Bike felt very confident & comfortable (I mean the riding position, suspension). Did not feel back ache & not so much tired. Suspension feel stiff @ low speed, but at speed greater than 60 kmph it was OK.
                          - Forced to take breaks only because of my rear pain (Seating area). I do not know ... was it because of poor seat cushioning or I just felt as this was my first ride more than 60 km in a stretch. Also break is good for bike as well (just asuming)
                          - Engine feels lot smoother now. Hope it still improves.
                          - Did not notice any vibration or abnormal sound (The only sound I was hearing was wind sound & little engine sound that's all)
                          - I think this bike is very well capable & confident to do 100-110 kmph.
                          - As the engine is new, I just limited to 90 kmph(7000 rpm). Mostly in the range of 6500-7000 rpm.
                          - Did not have the chance to check the braking ability as never came into panic braking situation (Hope it never comes in the future too ). But to my experience, no complaints on braking.
                          - Once after a break, forgot to remove the side stand & it got hit @ around 80 kmph while cornering. Luckily I was in control. May be some damage could have happened to side stand (visually not visible though).

May be some damage could have happened to side stand (visually not visible though).

great share bro it helps alot ride safe
