    1. Build quality of the bike is superb. I ride 90+ kms daily and the reason i bought this bike is to save on fuel costs from commuting on the triumph bonneville. Average speed for me on the highway is 80-90 and I am getting an average of around 45.

    2. First service done at 850kms in 12 days . Cost was 350rs.

    3. Had some issue with yellowish line appearing over the welds. After calling Honda head office, they said that it is "normal" due to the kind of welding they do. I was not satisfied with this answer and had them repaint the entire frame again.

    4. Had an issue with the lcd display. Bike when turned to "ON" position showed nothing on the display. I kick started it and the display was going crazy showing random numbers and turning on and off. Randomly as soon as i reached the service center, it was working normally. I was told that if it happens again, i have to get the wiring checked.

    5. Another time, the bike would not start with the starter. The starter motor would run and try to crank the engine but the engine would not start. Had to kick start.
Really random one time incidents have occured with this bike but overall, I am very happy.

Looking for ideas or similar experiences to explain this.

It might be a problem with the stator coil which charges the battery or the ignition circuit itself. I was facing a similar thing last week but the service center fixed it for me in no time. Not a major problem. Get the wiring checked at the service center and everything should be fine.
    Keep Calm & Ride On!

Yamaha RX 100's Mud Flap which cost only Rs.15 + Fevi Kwik Rs.5 . A small , but effective solution to control water splash from your Hornet's front tyre.

I have driven around 760 kms and I find the idle speed varying upto a larger extent.

After cold start, the idle is around 1100, and after warming up a few minutes, the idle reaches around 1200-1300 rpm

The real difference is after running for around 20 kms crossing 60 kmph and maintaining there a few minutes (around 5000 rpm), the idle climbs up to 1900-2100 rpm
But the engine feels a lot peppier after this.

Am I facing an issue here, and had any one else here encountered similar situation?

Thanks for the reply in advance.. :-)

That's not normal. Does it come down to 1200/1300 on stopping and idling? Any other strange symptoms?

even after a few minutes after the long ride, the idle remains around 1900 rpm and persists. It reduces only after the engine has cooled sufficiently.

I've ridden 100 constantly for about an hour, but the bike idled at 1400-1500 immediately when I stopped. Maybe just a small issue with the choke cable or carb setting.

                Have others experienced the same?

It should ideally be the other way round. A cold engine idles higher to aid combustion and to bring the engine to optimal temperature soon. Once the engine is warm, revs drop.
Readings shouldn't go beyond 1400-1500 RPM once the engine is warm/settled. Cold RPMs till 2000 are fine.

I remember having the same thing before 2nd service. The choke cable was a little stuck. The AFR may be a little lean.

Hornet doesn't have fuel injection bro. It's carb.

That's true😂. Unless we use the choke cold RPMs are near 1000rpm.

The AFR maybe lean. Do you feel other symptoms like excess heat from the engine, hard starting a cold engine, lesser power and mileage?

I too faced the same issue, initially I felt it was the behavior of Hornet. But one day, my bike started running on it's own after engine heats up(after riding 12 to 15kms) and I can't control the bike either with Clutch or with shifting gear to neutral. Based on the inputs from ASC it's carburetor design issue, Honda blindly used unicorn carburetor in Hornet. Honda knows about the problem, ask for replacement of carburetor before facing any serious issue.

I don't think it'll be such a big issue as Hornet uses Unicorn engine and carb (maybe with bigger jets).

For me, it was a problem with the choke cable.

The AFR if lean produces erratic idling and sometimes 'stuck' idling.

No issue with my bike. Cold idle at 1000 rpm and hot fluctuating between 1250 to 1500 rpm.

Hi. Yes. I have New India insurance papers with me. not sure about the service center people who lost my trust already (they charged me 750 bucks for 1st service).
