Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Covered with plastic to prevent rain water entry and damage to the instruments and switches. I don't know about Honda, but the Minda? sourced switchgear for FZ/GS/Gixxer/RE can withstand monsoon abuse with rare sprays of WD40 or Zorrik.Originally posted by ramprasadkamineni View Post

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My Horn switch make some malfunction during monsoon... No sound from Horn... one road side mechanic told me to clean switch gear at Honda ASS because of Warranty. Anyway I bought a small bottle of " Zorrik 88" instead of WD 40 for Rs.70 and sprayed into Horn switch. Repeated same process again after 3 days. Now it is O.K.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostCovered with plastic to prevent rain water entry and damage to the instruments and switches. That is quite common in Mumbai!!Originally posted by Zeit View PostYes it is covered to avoid mid splashes and the switch gear to prevent rain water from seeping into switches..
Have seen that in many bikes.
Sadly it affects the aesthetics of this good looking bike.

Shashank KR Lol dude I even have a nc 700. 700 cc honda. The only reason i got the hornet is to for commuting so my other bikes don't get damaged you know. As far as the step down, the hornet is equally well built apart from the weld quality. Nissin brakes are very good. I cruise on the bonney at 80-90, so its all the same. Apart from the torque. I'm not going to change the oil till 6k. Follow the honda manual and fight if anything goes wrong. The headlight is the worst thing on the bike in my opinion.Originally posted by Shashank K R View Post@darthvader_omi
I must say, that's a big leap down coming from the Bonneville to the Hornet 160R😅.
5. This happens to me too. Cold starts with the electric starter just doesn't happen for me. Especially if you don't ride for 3+ days or ride a long distance on the highway.
And engine guard is very useful. I've had many instances where rocks are ricochet right into the engine from the front wheel. Already many dents on mine.
Coming to the engine oil, if it's mostly high traffic city riding/high speed highway runs it won't even last 2500km for me.
In my bike I've put Osram Silverstar 35/35W. Better than the stock bulb. Costs 140rs. The battery is too small to handle bigger bulbs or higher loads. I tried a 55/60W bulb but it wasn't good due to the battery.

Wow😅. That's makes it even more interesting.
In Bangalore traffic and dust is at an all time high. Oil lasts only 1500km (stock mineral) before the engine gets very hot and harsh. The oil seems like very black water when drained. My air filter lasted only 7k. I haven't changed it yet, it's clogged up and so I'm riding without the filter cover.
Try osram Silverstar, much better than stock.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Update on ownership.
Ive been riding in the rain for the past 3 days. No mechanical issues but the horn stops working. I guess someone else faced this issue. In my case it gets weak and the starter doesn't work
. Ive also have the lcd go mad and show random shit LOL. Everything starts working once the bike dries out.
Took my bike to address these issues to the Honda SVC. New case file is opened. On behalf of the hornet community I have requested them to make changes at the assembly line as many owners are facing this issue. Rusting has affected my steering head screw, and the welds under the seat. Will post pictures soon

Ahmedabad is worse with the dust
. Did you try lubing the chain? My engine runs and sounds rough when the chain is dry and dirty. This is possibly because it is running through the engine at high speed. Everytime i clean and lube my chain, the engine runs butter smooth.

Yup, lubed the chain. Trust me, I've tried. It just doesn't last. The oil is fully black and is very runny like water. The very heavy traffic here takes it toll.Originally posted by darthvader_omi View PostUpdate on ownership.

Plus there's the full chain cover which prevents the chain from dirty too quickly.
On my bike there are no issues with switchgear at all (in and after heavy rain of course).
What is notching sound?Originally posted by raghavac3 View PostHello Guys,
