Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Brother, please see other option now. You'll always have this memory of Hornet and you'll feel the same when buying next one.Originally posted by Apreded View PostI got the full payment back, will go with Hornet if this issue is fixed in new lot, if not then I will go with some other options in market because riding new and expensive bike with such faulty sound is not something I am willing to do. Bajaj RS 200 with new color theme (Black and Silver) I am considering as option.
Btw, could you please describe the chain problem in details? I've Hornet from Jan 2016 mfg. If there's some problem then I'll have it fixed in 3rd service...
Please let all of us knowRide hard, Ride safe! :D

You are really lucky dude, my sincere advice is don't think about Hornet again. There is one or other complicated issue all the time with Hornet.Originally posted by Apreded View PostI got the full payment back, will go with Hornet if this issue is fixed in new lot, if not then I will go with some other options in market because riding new and expensive bike with such faulty sound is not something I am willing to do. Dude. You're damn lucky! Its just great that you made an intelligent decision. Don't look back at all. Forget even honda if you can. If you can go beyond a lakh, there are plenty of good motorcycles waiting for you. The lot of us are stuck with hornet. It is actually so embarrassing for me to quote its price when people ask me, cuz it's not worth shit(except for the brakes maybe)!Originally posted by Apreded View PostI got the full payment back, will go with Hornet if this issue is fixed in new lot, if not then I will go with some other options in market because riding new and expensive bike with such faulty sound is not something I am willing to do. Did you removed leg guards??
Install leg guards, even get Enfield / FZ type for more protection.
I got a skid last Friday on flat road. It was definetely hard breaking but not sure due to break lock or I was little leaning during break.
Bike fell down on leg guard (stock leg guard). Luckily no bone injury but but good amount of bruises on left hand and on knee. Still recovering.
There is no damage with bike. Only a screw of leg guard got off and it gets bend.
One more thing, because of leg guard only tank cover also saved. So don't remove safety addons. Also the tip extending handle bar. It saved my hand too.------------------

Try riding gear or full sleeve shirts if possible and gloves as well...
Ride safe.
Just a point to note
Under hard braking, always apply front break first if you're riding straight. Then apply rear.
When you're on a curve one must reduce speed to a safe value and then enter curve.
If you need to break, apply rear in such cases..
Experience from many highway and ghat braking...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hey chidafn,Originally posted by chidafn View PostvaRider, can you please share your experience in detail? If not here than you can pm me.
It's been more than 11 months now I bought red Hornet and 5850 on odometer.
Following are my observation and experience till now:
1) Very poor headlight
AC makes it even worse when riding slowly
Planning to install auxiliary 2 LED lights 27W each on leg guard to get good illumination
2) Stiff suspension
I mostly ride solo so bike really runs very rough and jumps on bad patches. Planning to soften it in 3rd service.
3) Vibration
Bike Vibration horribly between 65-85. But it accelerates very strongly as this is power band.
Little more BHP and lesser torque could've been really helpful for highway rides.
4) Short 1 and 2 gear
1st gear can only do 12 without screaming and to keep it below 5K RPM. 2nd goes till 25 where it screams again.
This makes it very hard to ride in bumper to bumper traffic in Mumbai.
One needs to constantly keep on shifting to ride at 10-15 kmph.
5) Hard neutral
Even after riding so much, gear shifting is very hard for 1 and 2 gears.
Bike goes to Neutral many times while downshifting to 1st. As it needs extra pressure to drop down to 1st, one needs to pay attention there. This can be very fatal in tight situations.
Many times indicator shows neutral but bike stays on 1st only. So while parking and in traffic, need to use clutch else wheel gets blocked.
6) Chain
Chain gets loose very frequently and lube flings out to rear number plate as well as on chain guard.
The noise of chain is very irritating.
7) Engine
Engine is super punchy at all times which makes it tough to ride in slow traffic or one needs to use clutch.
FS oil should be used for this super compressed engine. I'll try this after 3rd service.
8) Lack of engine kill switch
It's need is felt in traffic where one needs to play with key to shut down engine. Not acceptable at this price range.
9) Rear break feedback
The rear break has long Freeplay, which makes one to press it harder.
CBS ratio is more of 70:30 rear: front.
So one should use front break to stop earlier.
10) Mirrors
Edgy shape of mirrors reduces visibility. Should be square/oval shaped for this. But considering character it looks good. R15 has very nice rvm.
11) Mudguard
They should be little longer, as bike gets very dirty in rainy season and gets dusty other times.
12) Lack of foot rest on Saree guard
In country like India, this is a must thing. At least if not factory fitted, accessory wise it must be made available. It was a lot of trouble in early days of ownership, as no compatible foot rest was available. And I didn't want to have it welded.
13) Higher pillion foot rest
Even 5'6 height people find it troublesome to sit on rear seat for long time.
14) Far out side indicators
Indicators are placed much outside of main body which causes great risk of breaking them down.
15) Rusting
Earlier batches had lot of Rusting issues. It was to such a great extent that it felt like bike is few years old.
Had it painted from ASC after following up with Honda CC.
That's it for now. So see for yourself before buying it.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Pal,
I got first batch Hornet and my odo is 10300+ now.
All you mentioned here are character of this bike. of course few are bad and few i dont experience in my bike.
I had pulsar 150 before and i really feel upgraded. Honda did a fine balance to serve both youngsters and mature people.
If someone see the last 20 pages of this forum will definitely get scared and keep well away from Hornet which it dont deserve.
Believe it or not, this bike was parked out for a whole day in recent cyclonic storm in chennai but jumped in to life on first kick.
Why depriving people who may really need this bike ??

I've shared my observations about my experience. If you have other experience, please share it.
So I'll understand what corrections can be done if only my unit/batch was faulty.
About highlighting good things
1) Awesome 4K+ RPM
2) Highway stability at 80 speeds
3) 3rd onwards very smooth shifting
4) Fat tyres very good for leaning
5) Good braking response
So if above points attract you to buy Hornet, then go ahead and buy it.
Have fun! Decision is yours based on all the feedback.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D
