Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello fellow Hornet Owners. I have owned the bike for less than a month, CBS white version (Dual Disks). Following are my experiences:
1. Build quality of the bike is superb. I ride 90+ kms daily and the reason i bought this bike is to save on fuel costs from commuting on the triumph bonneville. Average speed for me on the highway is 80-90 and I am getting an average of around 45.
2. First service done at 850kms in 12 days
. Cost was 350rs.
3. Had some issue with yellowish line appearing over the welds. After calling Honda head office, they said that it is "normal" due to the kind of welding they do. I was not satisfied with this answer and had them repaint the entire frame again.
4. Had an issue with the lcd display. Bike when turned to "ON" position showed nothing on the display. I kick started it and the display was going crazy showing random numbers and turning on and off. Randomly as soon as i reached the service center, it was working normally. I was told that if it happens again, i have to get the wiring checked.
5. Another time, the bike would not start with the starter. The starter motor would run and try to crank the engine but the engine would not start. Had to kick start.
Really random one time incidents have occured with this bike but overall, I am very happy.
Looking for ideas or similar experiences to explain this.

To all friends facing rusting issues. I have complained to Honda India head office in Delhi. I told them of our fellow hornet owners experiences. They are looking into it. I recommend anyone who still has their warranty to get the entire bike repainted and teflon coated repeatedly.
The fuel tank bolts are rusting because they are made of ms, not ss. I was told this is done to increase strength of the fuel tank

Yes It is normal. Happens In all disks due to dust. Welcome to Indian weather. Will stop after washing and service don't worryOriginally posted by Nabendu Mandal View PostHornet 160r (cbs version). 2days old. Rear disc is creating a LITTLE "chik-chik-chik-chik" sound. Is this normal with all the double discs bikes?

If you are using service center oil, every 6000kms if ridden daily. There is absolutely no need to change at 3500km or less. The service manual itself says to change oil every 6000km.Originally posted by vaRider View PostApart from checking oil level and color.
After how many kilometres should oil be changed? (Mainly highway riding 60-95 kmph)

Engine guard is necessary as if someone pushes your bike and it falls, the first thing to go will be your precious engine and paintOriginally posted by dineshjdh View PostHi guys, Does engine guard is necessary for hornet?

Same rusting seen in a black hornet here. Only way to prevent is to wipe the bike clean and contact honda service immediately. I have complained to honda about the same issue (main factory ). They said they are looking at the assembly line for this issue. If we collectively complain, company will take action and do repparis for free. In the meantime, if your bike is less than a year old, get all the parts painted for free. I did the same thingOriginally posted by Saurabh213 View PostRusting can be seen only on parts where paint has been damaged.

I use to keep the disc brake lock here the paint is damaged due to that .

Not sure what happened here only 2 out of 7 bolts developed rust.
How to prevent this?

Not only your headlight bro. The headlight is weaker than activa. I'm planning to install xenon bulbs. But someone on this forum said that the battery will not be able to power themOriginally posted by vaRider View PostHi riders,
Headlight on Hornet is really disappointing. In rains, it is totally useless.
Has anyone fitted additional 2 headlights without disturbing original wiring and headlights?
I wish to fit it on 2 side shock-absorbers. So that it can be removed easily and won't void warranty.
Please help me out on this.
Can you please post pics of your Hornet headlights in total darkness? I feel like mine are defective. Please...

Out of seven bolts in tank I think 3 nos are original others are just decoyOriginally posted by darthvader_omi View PostHello fellow Hornet Owners. I have owned the bike for less than a month, CBS white version (Dual Disks). Following are my experiences:

I must say, that's a big leap down coming from the Bonneville to the Hornet 160R😅.
5. This happens to me too. Cold starts with the electric starter just doesn't happen for me. Especially if you don't ride for 3+ days or ride a long distance on the highway.
And engine guard is very useful. I've had many instances where rocks are ricochet right into the engine from the front wheel. Already many dents on mine.
Coming to the engine oil, if it's mostly high traffic city riding/high speed highway runs it won't even last 2500km for me.
In my bike I've put Osram Silverstar 35/35W. Better than the stock bulb. Costs 140rs. The battery is too small to handle bigger bulbs or higher loads. I tried a 55/60W bulb but it wasn't good due to the battery.Last edited by Shashank K R; 07-11-2016, 09:28 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Dear friends. Today I fall down because of an insolent pig who doesn't know use of indicator. My bike has major scratches and a dislocated handle bar. What should I do? Visit a local mechanic or service Centre. Does any warranty cover this? Really a bad day.

I think the insurance should cover this. Insurance usually covers the metallic parts like tank, crash guard, handle bar etc.Originally posted by appsvasan View PostSorry for the incident bro ,go for service centre and ask for the quote I think warranty don't cover that
I would definitely suggest you taking the bike to the Honda SVC.

Two in fact.Originally posted by Ashhar_Saaed View PostAny solution??
1. Mud flaps (rubber - will spoil the look but work better) or
2. Fender extensions (from pulsar series - will look decent but won't work half as good as flaps).Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
