Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Requesting advice.Originally posted by baymax View PostGuys, mine is a 180 kms run new hornet.
When riding at about 4000rpm at speeds 50-55 km/h on 5th gear i could feel some vibes at my footpegs and handlebar. The vibes are such that its rhythmic to the engine sound/exhaust note.
As someone said the vibes are like sensation of the engine which can be felt on the footpegs and handlebar. Is it normal?
Has anyone experienced this?
Hasnt taken her above 4k rpm as she is in running in period. So cant actually tell if its still present above 4k rpm, but below 3.5 k its absent(the vibes/sensation).
Please reply.
This is the post that i have typed in back in September last year when my bike was still in running in period.
Thought the vibes would go away after the bike has run in some kms, but now after 3000kms the vibes are still present[emoji17] .
Now when i push the bike a little hard, the vibes are a bit harsh( 3rd gear- 6k rpm). This deprives me of all the fun and also makes it difficult during the overtaking maneuvers.
Went to few nearby svcs. 2 of them said its all normal and asked me to bring in again if the vibes become more pronounced.
Another svc when i went in, said that its due to my faulty clutch springs(or something related to clutch, dont know the correct technical term). He said the vibes will be gone after the replacement, but they don't have the particular thing in stock.
Now mine has only just above 3000kms and isnt it too early for a clutch related job? Should i make them open up my new engine?
Can the vibes be really related to the clutch? Anybody here has any related experience?
The vibes are like heavy 'buzzing' at about 4.5k rpm and above. Heavily pronounced when in lower gears.
Please give in your valuable suggestions.

confused with sounds and problem with height.
Hi fellow hornet riders,
My hornet is past 250 km, and problems i face are:
1.) cling cling sound since i took it right out of showroom, now it just got worse, i can't figure out if its from chain and sprocket or some other parts. i strongly think its the chain.
2.)there is tick tick sound coming from bike, once i keep turn it off after riding, and have no clue as of what it is.
3.)suspension is really terrible on bad roads and pain all over body, tried changing riding position, putting feather light weight on handles still paining bad. Is a bit more seat cushioning advisable?
4.)the fuel level shows 3 bars now, can i know an approx level of fuel remaining?
5.)i took a short test drive before i bought the motorcycle, and its my mistake, i never thought that it wud be such a big problem for me to pull my leg up and change gears, is it okay to adjust the position of the lever?

Re: confused with sounds and problem with height.
You can adjust rear suspension. There are 3 levels. By default it's hardest.Originally posted by numberplate View PostHi fellow hornet riders,

Fuel gauge always shows incorrect fuel level. So you'll have to get around it by estimations. Let it hit reserve then only you'll get idea.
Ideally 1 bar stands for 1.5 Litre.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Re: confused with sounds and problem with height.
I been riding for over a year on a cd dawn and unicorn 160(unicorn also had that tick tick sound ones turned off, but it vanished after servicing) which my family own.Originally posted by Anicto fdo View PostIs this your first bike?
update: im not referring to the tick tick from the exhaust, its something different, on the unicorn we used to pour very little water on silencer and sound beats faster and we cud understand its from exhaust and parts are cooling down. Its not the case and idk what exactly it is.Last edited by numberplate; 04-16-2017, 08:53 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Due to the sporty nature of the bike, the sitting posture is set to be leaning forward, it will take time to adjust to it. But surely you will love it. As a RE owner I found very difficult to adjust to it sitting position initially. But now I get used to it.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My sincere advice is not to play with breaks. Breaks are very crucial as you know. As long as my experience goes, breaking is good in CBS. So please have them checked from SVC.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostGuys I'm thinking about changing the brake lines.... thinking about going for steel braided ones.... also I'm thinking about changing the brake levers.. can i do so ???..

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yep. Its fine after the replacement. I'd say more unnoticeable rather than completely rectified. The power loss bandwidth was drastically reduced, but sometimes I did feel for a very brief moment that the engine lagged. Haven't had a repeat recently.Originally posted by baymax View PostHi,
How is your hornet after carburetor needle jet replacement? Is the power lag rectified?
I got the same work done on my hornet for the same lag today and till now(aporox 50 kms after replacement) its fine.
I want to know its long term effect? Does it completely rectifies the problem?
Any change in mileage observed after the work?
Now another very worrying issue I've been facing recently is that the engine is producing a howling/whining noise when decelerating from 45kmph-30kmph specially in 3rd or 4th gear which then disappears. I'd relate the sound to someone having asthma or some villian in Bollywood movies who has this breathy laugh. Something in the ranks of this: https://youtu.be/zBkuNpgACH0 Is it normal?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I guess someone who has done more than 12000 km can answer question about cost of brake fluid. I did 7000+. And brake fluid is still more than half.. 😎Originally posted by adityagaur51 View Postdoes anybody the cost of hydraulic brake fluid for both front and rear disk for HORNET ??? also I'm thinking about changing the headlight.... can i use a LED without changing wiring or battery out i have to use osrams ????

HS1 bulbs are direct fit. My advice is to install Osram silver star or any other HS1 you like. And install LED auxiliary like I did on my hornet. Please check my post earlier for that.
I think levers can be changed easily.. give a try and let us know!
Cheers!Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

... Service guy promised me that my chain will last upto next service at 24,000 Km,but I have some doubt about that.No sound from chain ,but adjustment mechanism reached at its end.
