Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I forgot to mention that local mechanics were a strict no as I could (and still) do routine services myself.Originally posted by ZZR1 View PostBalancer was replaced under warranty. However, the grinding sound still persists although not as much as it was earlier. The manager refuses to accept the issue is still there. Need to again escalate to Honda.
Don't think its an engine issue in mine. Other than the sound issue there is no loss of power, pick up etc.

Good to hear that ! Did the vehicle undergo a re bore? If the vehicle has run 114000 k's without a re bore it is a sign of a fantastic vehicle and good maintenance.
Did you get the vehicle serviced at the SVC or through a local mechanic.

I downshift when needed instead of clutch slipping on higher gear. My Yamaha RX 100 clocked more than 84,000 km but still clutch was fine before I sold it.Originally posted by vaRider View PostWow! How you ride bro! Clutch plate for so long!

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My Hornet 160R touched 34 kmph in first gear and it seemed to go more(today). How can you( and many riders) comment that 1st and 2nd gears(I have not checked 2nd gear till now though) of Hornet 160R are shorter? Check for yourself. It may be because of vibrations/roughness 1st gear feels short which I also felt. But ride some kilometres (over 5000 km and fs oil from 1st service in my case) and try for yourself. Your opinion will change, definitely.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View Post,
I am riding more than a year.
You will easily get 50-55 mileage in mixed condition.
Except chain, nothing extra to maintain. In any open chain bike, you have to use regular clean and lube. Otherwise there will be rattling sound and not-so-smooth drive.
Be-Aware, Hornet has short 1st and 2nd gear and low end torque. That means, not suitable for heavy traffic and hill area condition.
Except this, IMHO Hornet is a great bike, looks great. Feels great driving on highway.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
34 on 1st seems overkill! Sometimes I have managed 28 on 1st, but that makes a lot of nice and it's not good idea to stretch it for so long...Originally posted by Anupam Das View PostMy Hornet 160R touched 34 kmph in first gear and it seemed to go more(today). I did not ride for long in first gear at that speed. Immediately I pulled the clutch lever, reduced throttle to zero & shifted to 2nd. The bike did not seem stressed and appeared to have still more go left. But I could not manage to have a look at the tachometer. It is not advisable to ride like this repeatedly. I had ridden my RX 100 like this innumerable times.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
The Michelins come in stock size, ie, 140/70. If you go for Michelin, go for pilot Street radial. It's expensive but worth it. On my gixxer this tyre is good at everything - cornering, mild offroading, bad roads, wet roads. Best of all it's quite resistant to punctures.Originally posted by ZZR1 View PostAny one having experience with 140/60 Michelins. Planning to go for the Fz size at the replacement time since the stock tyres seem to be putting pressure on the chain. Perhaps the smaller size tyre will aid in initial acceleration too.

Ride for another 100km and see how things are my bike was sounding horrible and used to vibrate . You seem to have done a lot of the repair/maintenance work yourself, which the SVC centres would have missedOriginally posted by Anupam Das View PostI downshift when needed instead of clutch slipping on higher gear. .
My riding style is similar too. However, while riding the hornet i am facing a peculiar problem with the gearing (considering the gearing). For example, i am forced to ride at 10 kms on the second gear in crawling traffic since downshifting to 1st leads to massive engine braking, jerks to pillion etc. Of course, releasing the clutch very slowly helps to an extent, but in this crazy traffic thats a luxury with vehicles squeezing through gaps (hand not faced this problem with other bikes).

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Don't bother about speed much. Take care of RPMs.Originally posted by ashisharia View Post
Got Hornet 3 days back, totally loved it... Clicked 130kms till now...till what rpm and speed should I take. My bike in?
<5000 RPMs till 1000 KMs, <7500 RPMs till 2000 KMs is usually the norm with 150cc performance bikes these days.
In any gear, don't keep the bike on same RPM for long, keep varying.
Regards.
