My riding style is similar too. However, while riding the hornet i am facing a peculiar problem with the gearing (considering the gearing). For example, i am forced to ride at 10 kms on the second gear in crawling traffic since downshifting to 1st leads to massive engine braking, jerks to pillion etc. Of course, releasing the clutch very slowly helps to an extent, but in this crazy traffic thats a luxury with vehicles squeezing through gaps (hand not faced this problem with other bikes).

Yes I maintain my bike as much as possible myself. In heavy crawling traffic in Guwahati city I ride on first gear and shift to 2nd when the situation permits.

Is the transparent cover so badly scratched that it has become opaque/translucent and readings are no more legible? If yes and if you don't want to change the whole unit you can try applying "Formula1 scratch out" scratch remover which should reduce the scratches. You can also try rubbing compound. Using Formula1 scratch remover I was able to minimize scratches of the indicator repeater located on the left wing mirror of my i10 sportz car. First test on a small area and if you are not satisfied with the result don't proceed further.

Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestion & prompt reply... i will share some pic of my speedometer tomorrow morning so you can get a clear idea ... the scratch is very linear from right to left & very dense.

Try Colgate and see if it helps remove scratch .. you can Google it you should get more info n steps .[emoji4]

[MENTION=32045]Abhik[/MENTION] .... tried using colgate but it was of no help since the scratch is very deep & all it could do was cleaning other parts of the speedometer which was not scratched[emoji20][emoji20]

I love my bike very much & its only been one month & my heart breaks to see such thing as i am the kind of person who likes to take care of my vehicle & keep it in mint condition.... any help would really be appreciated in this regard & just a word of caution for the fellow riders over here to take care of your speedometer because if something like this happens you are left with very little choices & the last thing would be to change the entire assembly which would cost you very dearly as service center told me i.e. 5000 bucks.... of course i am not in a position now to shell out this much amount so looking out for some effective alternative hack for the same...

The Quality of the picture is not so good to me, that way i cannot figure out how deep the scratch looks, but from what i see is it doesn't look that bad and could be gone with colgate or try little WD40 apply just a little on a micro fibre cloth and try rubbing it gently. It looks like theres some external coating of the object which the scratch came from. I could be totally wrong here as i cannot figure it out weather the scratch is deep or its just on it.

I tried using colgate with the micro fiber cloth but it did not helped... can you please elaborate what is WD40??? I am a complete noob in this regard... i took the pic with the iPhone 6s but somehow the image gets compressed here while posting...it really looks ugly in person as half of the speedometer is covered with scratch & could not see rpm till 4000....

Hey vimesh, you no need to change entire assembly. You can get spares. Speedometer is just enclosed in one more plastic box and you just need to buy the top lid of box. I have to change the bottom cover few days back, luckily I got it from honda exclusive spares shop in JC road, bangalore.

Guys need a little help here, just recently done my second service the first 3 weeks after service was fine but after a week gap when I am driving the bike I started feeling lack of pickup and there is a little vibration observed in the handle section. And the worst part is mileage dropped from 55 to 45
Anyone with this kind of an experienced.

How many kms on the odo???? Immediately check for air filter & oil filter at first place & let us know the outcome..also check for spark plug...
