Hello all,

I feel there is some problem in my engine..
The sound of engine changes from 2.5k -3k rpm in some sharp manner and if we keep speed in between 2.5k-3k rpm some tic-tic sound comes from engine .
I have seen other bikes engine also..
They are having that tic-tic sound very low and some don't have that.
Mine have that more..
What causes that sound???

I have changed the cylinder kit too and then also the sound persists..
I have shown to various ASC's and they also say its normal as they are not sure from where the sound comes but it is there..

Please let me know the solutions for the same as it is very irritating and I love my bike very much...

IN NEED FOR URGENT HELP!!!!
The audio is not enabled on my system, so one question. Does the rpm shoot up without you using the throttle. The idling rpm should be 1000-1500 or slightly below 1000 (one bar below) in case of a cold start. Anything more would mean either the idling is set very high or a carb issue. In any case the rpm shooting up without application of throttle (i assume) is IMO abnormal.

Go to the honda motorcycles web page and raise a complaint on their webpage form. The ASCs will get back to you within a day. I have done that around 4 times for a grinding noise in from the engine (issue still persists!!).

BTW i suggest you have that engine kill switch removed. The SVCs are happy to deny warranty if you have done any engine/electrical modifications. Have that installed after warranty expires.

No rpms are okk ..
That is not engine kill switch rather it is for hazard lights ..
I have raised complain to Honda many times in starting for the issue but they forward it to local ASC whose technicians only know to worsen the situation rather than solving it.....

It may be tappet noise. Have the tappet/valve clearance checked. My Striking Green Hornet has the tic tic sound(tappet noise) but not much.

If the noise increases when the engine is properly warmed up? Then it may be loose tappets. Else may be due to faulty cam chain tensioner. And last may be due to insufficient lubrication. Check engine oil level and oil pump
Off the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

Hi All,
Does the idle speed in hornet increases linearly with engine temperature. Is it natural?

Today I adjusted the throttle stop screw as per the owners manual to 1400+- idle speed just after starting the bike in the morning .Then after riding for some time about 15-20 km when stopping in traffic the engine was revving very high in neutral or in gear(with the clutch pressed and throttle off)between 2500-3000 rpm.Did I do anything wrong? Please advise.

Thanks

The idle rpm as specified in the manual is for a warm engine. So ride for a while and then change it to 1400rpm.

anuran_hornet please set the idling rpm after the engine has run for a while and is warm.

By bike completed 20,000Km. Chain became loose...not a single millimeter available for tightened. even after 2-3 visit to my Honda ASC in Kochi they failed to provide new Chain and sprocket kit for replacement... it is bad for a bike which launched in Dec 2015.
