Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
@ leech .... is it safe to rip it upto the redline??? I have covered 2200 kms & first service is done. The 3rd gear is going upto 45km/h on accelerating gradually... can anyone tell me how to tall the gearings safely? I have not taken it beyond 4.5-5k rpm till now.Originally posted by leech View PostVimesh, he twisted the throttle on the bike's right handlebar. That is the usual procedure to accelerate. The more you twist, the more vroom you get.
Kindly educate me for the same.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes, it's safe to give half or full throttle occasionally. I don't own a Hornet, but on my CBR, if I want to rev the bike, I give half throttle, and let the revs build up. Keep an eye on the redline though, don't exceed that. Please ensure you are in an open area without traffic or pedestrians.Originally posted by vimesh View Post@ leech .... is it safe to rip it upto the redline??? Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thanks mate!! I will try doing the same & try to limit the same upto 7k rpm for now... till now i have not really enjoyed the real power of hornet since what i feel is when i am changing the gears at 4.5k rpm i am getting the most of power anything below that it just does not feel powerful.Originally posted by leech View PostYes, it's safe to give half or full throttle occasionally. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
There is no harm in going upto the redline every once in a while, in fact it's good for the engine, the valves get cleared of deposits, and it makes the bike smoother at low revs. That's the reason the company provides a tachometer, so you can know what's the limit of your vehicle.Originally posted by vimesh View PostThanks mate!! If there is probability of engine oil burning, the inside of the exhaust pipe will be sooty & you will see smoke exiting from the exhaust pipe when revved.Originally posted by vaRider View PostSomething must be wrong with my bike then... That's good point! But how do I ensure or investigate why oil is burningOriginally posted by Anupam Das View PostIf there is probability of engine oil burning, the inside of the exhaust pipe will be sooty & you will see smoke exiting from the exhaust pipe when revved.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Consult a good mechanic or authorised service centre. If engine oil is burning it may be due to worn out piston rings or damaged valve stem seals. Compression test can be done.Originally posted by vaRider View PostThat's good point! But how do I ensure or investigate why oil is burning
