For break-in I'm just following the usual. Warming up the engine every morning and not revving high and not exceeding speeds above 40kmph.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes, i upshift early to 2nd gear in traffic. And the engine has a hard time pulling the bike. I have to take care of it.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View Post

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
40 is a bit low (When do you shift to 5th?) - you will risk lugging/glazing the engine. I think you can easily maintain the maximum as 60 kmph - key is to be gentle but normally accelerate and also to vary the speed most of the time.Originally posted by elviento View PostWarming up the engine every morning and not revving high and not exceeding speeds above 40kmph.

I have been doing city riding mostly so haven't got the chance to ride in 5th-60kmph.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View Post40 is a bit low (When do you shift to 5th?) - you will risk lugging/glazing the engine. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I am totally disagree with people who is telling you should take care of it every 500km bla bla ...
let me tell you my views , i have activa 125 and passon pro(my uncle's , he don't take care of it much ruff and tuff use only)
passion pro done 3LAC+ km and still it felt better than hornet with pilion.
activa 125- done service 1 year 6 months back still better pick up and smooth engine than hornet.
I am An engineer so my general thinking is when a new version and highe end released, it should be better than old one in performance , durablity etc.
but this hornet is quite opposite, my friend have FZ he rarely care for it, anothe 2 friends have R15 they do little care but theose are looks fine to me when i drive them.
(they do even have small issue like loose parts and some little noise like but notl like hornet)
i am not telling hornet is waste bike liek that it has it's own +points, but still felt bad for too many issues, like i used to take it to SVC every month.
few years back i have a laoptop and withn in one year they changed all parts saying defective , after one year when i look back non of it parts are from laptop i brought
i am scared as this hornet also seems to go into that category. buy the way how much it cost to install hazare light like in 2018 model ?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
As long as the engine is not run at low RPM+high gear (edited), it is okay. Plan a few short weekend rides and break-in the 5th gear too!Originally posted by elviento View PostI have been doing city riding mostly so haven't got the chance to ride in 5th-60kmph.Last edited by ashwanth.r; 08-02-2018, 01:59 PM.

Agree with Ashwanth. You can drive till 60.Originally posted by elviento View PostYes, i upshift early to 2nd gear in traffic. And the engine has a hard time pulling the bike. I have to take care of it.

Break-in is not about just keeping the low. Just don't abuse.
I saw a guy with new bike keep raving in low gears.
It also necessary, not to keep constant RPM. Also, once in a while rev in higher RPM in each gear.
Some people also do break-in the new bike for riding long distance for say 80-100Km. Varying speed, touching high RPM.
Overall, it's like you are using sand paper to give finish touch.
Some some get too scared to go high speed when bike is new.
It may lead to settle the bike under powered.------------------

Can you please elaborate this.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostAs long as the engine is not run at low RPM+high speed, it is okay. Plan a few short weekend rides and break-in the 5th gear too!
In high gears it is low rpm and high speed.

Sorry bro, It should be read as "low RPM + high gear".Originally posted by elviento View PostCan you please elaborate this.
In high gears it is low rpm and high speed.
That is, doing a speed of 30 kmph in 5th gear and so on. Keep an eye on the tachometer and always keep the pot boiling in 3500-4500 RPM. If you are doing an upgrade (climbing a flyover) or have a heavy pillion, don't be shy to downshift and keep the engine comfortable even though it may not protest by that knocking sound, etc. It is very easy to lug GS/Hornet as they are tall geared in the higher gears.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
This is true. Also, it will ease out once the engine runs more and after the first service it will smoothen up.Originally posted by #bpk View PostBut the 1st and 2nd gears are tricky, while crossing continuous speed breakers with pillion you should shift to 1st gear for safety purpose, otherwise bike will stall and oncoming traffic will hit you. I find that 2nd gear cannot pull from low speed, it needs atleast 10kmph in 1st gear.[My Motorcycles]

Yes , i have covered 1200 kilometers till now and my maximum speed is 70kmph, i fear that if i rev harder bike will get vibrations for its entire life [emoji23][emoji23][emoji28][emoji28]Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostAgree with Ashwanth. You can drive till 60.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
70Kmph is 5.5k RPM which is very low. The whole power of Hornet lies beyond that.Originally posted by #bpk View PostYes , i have covered 1200 kilometers till now and my maximum speed is 70kmph, i fear that if i rev harder bike will get vibrations for its entire life [emoji23][emoji23][emoji28][emoji28]
You can achieve the high speed without hard rev. It's good to brush off the engine by at least 7 - 7.5k RPM. You can steady increase the throttle. Feel the power in bike at
7k RPM in 4th gear
