Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If it eases out with use then its fine..i have only done around 50km. First service is yet to be done.Originally posted by #bpk View PostIt happened to me during my initial days. After completing more kilometers engine will be free and will pull from low speed without stalling. For eg, now my bike picks up comfortably from 25kmph in 3rd gear with pillion

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
But the 1st and 2nd gears are tricky, while crossing continuous speed breakers with pillion you should shift to 1st gear for safety purpose, otherwise bike will stall and oncoming traffic will hit you. I find that 2nd gear cannot pull from low speed, it needs atleast 10kmph in 1st gear.Originally posted by elviento View PostIf it eases out with use then its fine..i have only done around 50km. Yes i have stalled my bike a couple of times..people are understanding enough to see a new bike and let go of the situation[emoji28]. 1st gear and proper clutch control should do the job.Originally posted by #bpk View PostBut the 1st and 2nd gears are tricky, while crossing continuous speed breakers with pillion you should shift to 1st gear for safety purpose, otherwise bike will stall and oncoming traffic will hit you. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
exactly i too experienced the same problem, with solo rider bike flys ,with pillion it's struggles to go forward ,we can observer more in up slope , and my pillion weight is 58kgs and mine is 75 lol ,lesson learnt- better buy some success products even through they are old , but i still love this bike my own money my first bikeOriginally posted by elviento View PostSo this happened twice or thrice to me. Its a new bike, and i'm still getting used to the clutch's friction zone..solo riding is mostly fine but with pillion and two back packs the bike struggles to lift off and twice or thrice it so happened that the bike made a sound of stalling but it did not stall(engine did not switch off). Any idea what could have happened.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That's good, 8-30 Nm (approx 0.8-3.0 kgm) can handle all the small 8 mm bolts (valve cover, clutch/magneto cover) and pinch bolt on fork. I think you can also use it on the bottom fork bolt (~3.0 kgm). Get another one in the range 25-130 Nm (approx 2.5-13 kgm) for axle(s), swing arm pivot, rear suspension, engine mounting and engine rebuilding (future).Originally posted by zain_andrabi View PostThanks I'll look for it, good to know it's here somewhere I'll find it. I've got Taparia 1/4" Dr torque wrench that does from 8-30 Nm if I am not wrong. I will be getting another 1/2" Dr one soon. I have invested in new tools recently, just waiting for my carpark to finish renovation to start working on the bikes. My hornet really needs loads of maintenance, as I ride it alot and I had got a second hand one.. so I need to know all the mechanical parts are to spec. I'll upload all pictorials as soon as I start working on it. Thanks
Can you also please share:
1. Price of the torque wrench and where to buy it.
2. Whether it requires any special maintenance like re-calibration.
And do share the DIY procedure/pics - helps novice DIY-people like me
!

+1 on that.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View Post1. Price of the torque wrench and where to buy it.
I'm using a King Tony 4~20NM for the small nuts and bolts and it cost me roughly 5.5k a few years back. I would very much be interested in procuring a Taparia TWrench.Motorcycling Experience:

Yes Ashwin, that is why I asked him where to buy and how much. Many online sources quote much lesser prices than official (old stock may be).Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThank you for that! This site says 2705/-Last edited by ashwanth.r; 08-02-2018, 01:52 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That's Achilles heel of hornet, specially in starting days. You need to get your sweet spot of when to downshift/upshift the lower gears, depending on RPM vs speed.Originally posted by elviento View PostMost probably i was going in about 10-15kmph (in traffic) and in 2nd gear.
Yes with pillion i find a lot of change in pickup.
Once you get it, no problem at all.
As your bike is only at 50Km. Do read about "engine break-in", I feel it's important for Hornet.
Try to shift-up your gears on high rpm.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hmmm...is it that only hornet behaves like this or all other bikes in 150-160 segment behaves like this? Hornet lacks in low end power that I heard but is there a huge difference when compared to other 150-160cc bikes?Originally posted by raaz321 View Postexactly i too experienced the same problem, with solo rider bike flys ,with pillion it's struggles to go forward ,we can observer more in up slope , and my pillion weight is 58kgs and mine is 75 lol ,lesson learnt- better buy some success products even through they are old , but i still love this bike my own money my first bike
