Reliability is a subjective term, though I have a P220 which is rarely used and has close to 35k on the odo, the motorcycle is over 4 years old running fine, last long run I'd done it was a few months ago where we covered over 1600 km's in 3 days. Other than periodic consumable replacement I've not had to change anything prematurely, other than for performance i.e sprocketing, touring/adventure mods, handle bar swap etc.

But if you're looking for a more fun motorcycle I'd suggest you skip the displacement criteria and get a smaller motorcycle, they're more fun to ride and can be taken anywhere since they're practically like the 4x4's of the motorcycling world. I for one stated riding on a Karizma and I'm currently in love with my CT100B because it's the cheapest enduro I can find in the market, so much that I sparingly used the P220.
    Motorcycling Experience:
    2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
    2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
    2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
    2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
    2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
    2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!

The Ride was Good, but Life is short, spend it Wisely!
    Adios Comrades!

I think you should also add the upcoming xpulse to your garage. You'll love it. It will be a simple air cooled but very robust and safe motorcycle with inclusion of switchable abs [emoji16]

Looks can be deceiving bro, very few motorcycles survive a good thrashing and I doubt anything modern is worth the effort.

Also please suggest if I should go for hornet from cb unicorn 150 as my unicorn is older now and I am looking for an upgrade.
          1. Been using a Honda Unicorn 150 for the last 2 years. Mostly for Highway use. The maintenance is a lot less. Mine's only used for highway rides (my brother's daily office, when he's not too bored from driving cars). No chain issues. The only ones my brother & I do are regular chain lub, engine oil replacement and some polishing. Other than, there's no high consumables I've faced yet. It's one of the most hassle free bikes I've used. And I adjust the chain once every 800 to 900kms (mostly becomes loose after such running).

          2. The Hornet 2018 has a lot of issues and you wouldn't want to buy it right now. It costs are a lot more than the Suzuki Gixxer and Apache 160 4V which I consider more VFM in comparison. Take a test ride of both the bikes and get back to us.

220F had a lot of issues in past but most of them have been fixed. It's a reliable machine but not a fun one to ride. And the fuel economy is on the lower side of it. Terrible figures in the city.

Back at Uni and took my roommate's Hornet for a morning ride in Bhubaneswar. Excuse the lighting. He weather's a bit stormy today. He got it recently worked. Fork oils were replenished, engine oil was changed to Castrol 4T 20w50 as usual and some minor adjustments to braking.Click image for larger version

                Why you used 20w 50 oil instead of 10w 30 or 10w 40

Better performance, less false neutral shifts and it's easy on engine. I've used the 20w50 on both Hornet and Unicorn. Both are efficient on a way that the bike feels less stressed when you rev it hard. The stock 10w30 makes the engine feel stressed at 5500rpm but this one makes the bike more rev happy.

Are u facing any leakage in engine due to thicker oil. In a YouTube video a hornet engine got seized due to pouring motul 20w 50 oil.

It was a smooth ride tbh. I ride about 7kms in the city itself before moving to NH. The thing about Hornet is that it is geared really tall, meaning that you need to shift less in traffic. That's a relief in a city like mine where there's huge density of traffic during office hours. I drove to Jagannath Dham Puri Highway from Bhubaneswar. I cruised at moderate speeds of around 55 to 65kmph in 4th Gear. Had the brakes adjusted a few days back and the new fork oil provide a sigh of relief when you take hard using the front disc. I went a bit uphill and the bike was a breeze in that terrain. As usual the only part I only lacked a certain bike was the brakes. It's not as good as the Gixxer. The brake shoes need replacement and my roommate will do that sometime soon as well.

Nope. No issues there. Can't say about Motul but I'm a Castrol guy. Which video was it? I'm using Activ not Power (which has higher density). I'll take a picture of the bottle specs for you when I get home.

I've run on 20W50 Power 1 on my CT100B a couple of times and man, does the motorcycle rev like crazy, even on not so good roads you think you'd be doing 60ish and get a surprise when you see 90ish on the speedometer.

Here's a quote from an earlier post, the cyclo-computer shows true speed i.e 120 kmph on the speedo is only 100 kmph on the cyclo-computer.

                          * Both routes had hard to ride terrain and I don't ride for top speeds, the figures seen are achieved by usual riding through Kerala roads. The cyclocomputer is set up to show true speed and not speedo indicated speed which would roughly be 5 ~ 6 kmph more.

Yup. It's one hell of a good grade engine oil. I've been using Castrol on all my bikes and never had any issues, so I've never bothered to switch brands for a change. I've used Motul and Gulf back when I had an Activa-i though. It was good for a scooter though.

True, the only reason I stick with Shell HX3 is that it is dirt cheap at 280 per liter compared to the Castrol which is around 400 per liter.

I think bajaj recommends 20w 50, this is ok with your bike, but what about honda engines which recommends 10w 30. Which grade of oil do you recommend for honda engines
