Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That video was too much [emoji23][emoji23], but yes, we can do continuous speeds of 100 for hours on a hornet. It doesn't feel stressed at all, provided you take it there progressively. It's on 7k rpm while doing 100kmph I guess, which isn't much for a high revving engine. It's power band itself is 6500-8500 rpm and you're in the first quarter of it while doing a 100, so nothing much to worry about. The prominent indicator of stress on the engine is heat when you're redlining which doesn't turn up at all even after hours on the highway for a hornet. I did 235 kms in 2 hours 40 mins from Hyderabad to outskirts of Kurnool on highway before I took my first stop. That stop was very much required for my mind to stabilize rather than for the bike. I was heading to keep going on. That relaxed it is if you're progressively accelerating to 100plus. It didn't vibrate much at 110 too. It all depends on the way you ride. Even 70 to 80 kmph of harsh riding could hurt your engine for that matter. Ride gentle and fast not harsh. Don't have it sleeping below 5k rpm all it's life. Hope you only have to pay minimal, I guess labor charges would be on you. Let us know your experience.Originally posted by mac4rfree View PostThe bike banged straight to the side of the car. So most of the front assembly needs to be done..
I got persuaded form dealer that if we take insurance from them they will able to adjust and settle the claims quickly.
Does anyone encountered such incident that dealers helped with insurance thing?
Currently I have 2 years insurance from ICICI Lombard.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I feel trimmer like buzz on the handlebar and footpegs if i lift my legs from the footpeg and touch the footpeg with my thumb of leg. Similarly if i touch the handlebar with my 2 fingers i feel buzz from 60kmph onwards. Current odo reading is 1480 kilometers. Chain slack is ok, chain is well lubed. Will the buzz go away after completing 2000 -2500 kilometres.Originally posted by winturf99 View PostThat video was too much [emoji23][emoji23], but yes, we can do continuous speeds of 100 for hours on a hornet. Didn't realise that the forks were so costly. 1800 for the disc? The Bybre discs on Pulsar costs about 1200. Good thing that the handlebar used is a basic one. Take a picture of the front wheel, will you? How bad is it?Originally posted by mac4rfree View PostThe bike banged straight to the side of the car. So most of the front assembly needs to be done..

To add to this, the "limiter" is nothing but an indicator on the console. It's upto the rider to control his wrist.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostGixxer owners usually ride within a RPM limit which the SVC guys adjust using the console and the RPM limit is changed as the bike clocks more distance and the engine starts getting tuned up with long runs. I have a friend whose Gixxer had a very low RPM limit of about 5500 in total before servicing. Reason? The SVC guys told him that the bike needed to maintain uniform torque, not a high speed till it ran the required distance on ODO. As his bike unfurled at 5th servicing, they showed him how to set the RPM shift limit by himself. He has it currently set at 9500 and believe me, it can easily clock 90kmph+ without hassle. Why? Because the engine limits were kept in check during initial days. Setting a small RPM limit means more fuel economy and shorter gear ratios on Gixxer. You gotta shift early. Not sure how it works on Hornet but that's the case for Gixxer.
The run in on the Gixxer is till 1600kms. So usually the SVC sets the indicator at 4500rpm for the 1st 1000 kms.
Ideally the showroom lets the owners know how to set it by themselves.
I don't know about you guys, but both of these bikes can't do sustained 95-100kmph runs (or cruise) without being stressed IMO.Last edited by Shashank K R; 08-25-2018, 08:23 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That buzz is visible on any bike if it's in city commute where in we ride at those speeds or less by not varying rpm much and keeping it there but if you keep progressing acceleration the buzz reduces and yes it reduces by the time you complete your second service or 6k kms.Originally posted by #bpk View PostI feel trimmer like buzz on the handlebar and footpegs if i lift my legs from the footpeg and touch the footpeg with my thumb of leg. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi guys,
1.How is the maintenance cost of the honda hornet when compared to honda unicorn 150? Is it higher than honda unicorn?
2.What is the mileage of hornet in city and highway?
Also please suggest if I should go for hornet from cb unicorn 150 as my unicorn is older now and I am looking for an upgrade.Last edited by vengymgen; 08-26-2018, 10:59 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I think you should test ride rtr 160 4v too. You'll fee difference in performance . Hornet is a cheap bike to maintain. Rtr 160 4v is also a cheap bike to maintain. Service of rtr 160 4v will be slightly higher since tvs recommends fully synthetic oil for apache from 1st servicing onwards, cost is 525 rupees a litre. Whereas in hornet company recommends mineral oil which retails at 310 rupees a litre. But if you want to use honda fully synthetic oil ,it will cost you around 800 rupees.Originally posted by vengymgen View PostHi guys,

Another 150-160 bike would be just looks and fat tyre upgrade. You will feel Unicorn is more refined than Hornet.Originally posted by vengymgen View PostHi guys,

For upgrade better look for 200cc segments.
By this end there are several new bikes are coming TVS cruiser is one of them.------------------

how about pulsar 220f? what is the mileage? Is it maintenance friendly and reliable for long term ownership? I am hearing comments like bajaj products cause more maintenance issue after 2 years.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostAnother 150-160 bike would be just looks and fat tyre upgrade. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Bro I have been using the hornet for almost 2 yrs.. Its very good considering the petrol price and maintaince cost. The build quality is too good.. Last week I felt my bike took the entire hit for me and I escaped with almost minor injuries..Originally posted by #bpk View PostGo for rtr 200 best quality motorcycle
