Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Just go for it. Chain issue is gone with the 2018 model. No more chain slack after just 300-400kms. Till now I clocked 1500kms and never felt the chain slack or much noise from the chain. ABS works like a charm, love to use it at high speeds with confidence. Seating and suspension remained same. Headlight is OK for city riding but not for Highways. Waiting to change the main LED bulb at some point. And the trust with the build quality is as usual, no problems whatsoever. I have ABS STD version(Doesn't like disc at rear).Originally posted by elviento View PostHow is the 2018 model with abs? I am planning to buy hornet's 2018 model. Have the previous issues been fixed in this new model? Has anyone had experience? Any owners of the 2018 model please share your experience

Definitely ABS version, because its safer than CBS. I like feedback while braking and I drive based on that during high speed. In CBS if you apply any brake, the other brake will applied automatically. You may feel safe on straight line but while cornering or on muddy roads you are doomed.Originally posted by #bpk View PostWhich variant will you buy , abs or cbs

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Don't worry about the heat. Just clock 750 kms and give it for first service. Most of the problems will go away. Regarding gear shifts, best way is to shift between 4-5k rpm. During service just mention these problems while writing the job card.Originally posted by #bpk View PostSame problem with me on my 2018 hornet abs model. Odo reading is 160 km. Also engine heat can be felt after riding 8 to 10 kilometers while in standstill. Does your problems got sorted. Please reply .

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi guys i have a question both hornet and xblade share the same engine but in this video xblade is doing 38 kmph in 1st gear whereas my hornet only goes till 15kmph, why. Also xblade is more free revving than hornet why

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That's because you're babying the bike. Rev it hard, it'll touch 45-50kmph in first gear itself.Originally posted by #bpk View Post

The limit in each gear for unicorn 160/hornet/xblade (based on my ownership of the old unicorn 160)-
1 - 51
2 - 84
3 - 107
4 - 114
It's not exactly more free revving. Hornet makes most of its power past 5500rpm. The xblade/unicorn 160 come alive from 3000rpm itself. They have the "same" engine but in different states of tune.Last edited by Shashank K R; 08-06-2018, 11:05 PM.

Damn! Should've gone through ownership forums more before committing on the Gixxer.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostI sold it due to engine issues and bought the Gixxer.
Anyhow do familiarize yourself with working on your own bike, keeps costs down and working on your own motorcycle makes quite a difference as far as workmanship goes.Motorcycling Experience:

Few small things-
1. Front suspension gave me issues after a minor fall I had last year. Got it fixed finally by changing the fork oil and springs.
2. Some amount of "tappet" noise is there. Couldn't be fixed no matter how much I fiddled with the valve clearances. With the helmet on I can't hear it. Gets quite loud after constant 70-80 kmph.
3. The front sprocket sucks. It becomes hooked easily causing the dreaded "tak-tak" noise. Replaced it with P150's front sprocket, going fine from the last 6k Kms with negligible wear.
ashwinprakas yes DIY gives me peace of mind compared to giving it to the SVC. I only give it there to maintain warranty. I do most of the stuff like the oil changes, air filter, valve clearance, chain slack/replacement of chain or sprockets, etc. The Gixxer is simple and quite easy to work with and having the service manual helps a lot. Most spares are available at the SVCs.Last edited by Shashank K R; 08-07-2018, 12:23 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Engine roughness (like someone put sand in the engine), too much noise, variable acceleration (sometimes very jumpy, sometimes very sluggish). Also it was very hard to start in the winter mornings even with choke and kickstarter.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostWhat kind of engine issues are we talking here?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
These are certainly some of things you'd expect from a Hero Engine, not Honda. Strange that I didn't find these issues in my friend's Hornet even though they use the same jumpy.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostEngine roughness (like someone put sand in the engine), too much noise, variable acceleration (sometimes very jumpy, sometimes very sluggish).
