Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Good to know [emoji106]Originally posted by #bpk View PostVibrations update:
So finally test rode new fz v3 and guess what! At 6k rpm the clutch lever started shaking and the key started moving in the tank portion due to vibrations! Thank god hornet is smoother than fz above 4k rpm, also the pull was missing in fz. My bike has normal single cylinder vibes, nothing much. Feeling happy now!
Conclusion: The 160 4v is the smoothest motorcycle in segment! Even smoother than the r 15 v 3, confirmed after test riding all the above mentioned models.
Thanks.[ATTACH]248194[/ATTACH]
I too feel hornet is veryy smooth at higher rpms. Doing 90-100 engine feels steady and smooth no vibes at all. Twist the throttle and it still has more juice...
I think FZ v3 is little late to the market where hornet was already there with muscular design and single channel ABS with single spacious seat(similar to hornet?[emoji1] ).Last edited by elviento; 03-13-2019, 07:36 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
FZV3 felt underpowered because it was a new mill and was yet to complete run in. AFAIK, #bpk had a lot of complains on his new Hornet and unlike the FZV3. How come FZ is late to the market when it basically started the whole muscular design concept back in 2008? The current iteration may not look as good as the old ones but it literally started the trend. It has less powered compared to Hornet (I would know since I've been riding one since last 3 years; I also ride a friend's FZV2 every Sunday on road trips). In case you missed, FZ/FZ-S V3 comes with single channel ABS as well.Originally posted by elviento View PostI think FZ v3 is little late to the market where hornet was already there with muscular design and single channel ABS.[My Motorcycles]

After 5k kilometers my bike will become smoother, i can feel it now! Also honda throttle is amazing!Originally posted by Bismaya View PostFZV3 felt underpowered because it was a new mill and was yet to complete run in. I did not mean to debate on who started the muscular naked bike trend.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostFZV3 felt underpowered because it was a new mill and was yet to complete run in. But i was looking for a muscular bike with ABS in 2018 and only Hornet was the option. I said Yamaha released fz v3 a little too late..or I would have gone for it. Plus the seat design looks like hornet's deaign.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Good to hear positivity about hornet in this thread, where it used to be only complaints on it...
On my part, I can tell solid 10 best things about hornet... Always a fan of Honda hornet 160R (it's minor drawbacks become negligible for me as I got habitual with it)
1. Frzt headturner design from Honda for a streetfigher kind after a repetitive release of utility bikes from the brand (for under 160cc segment)
2. Superb stability _ quite proud of it
3. Super smooth midrange _ in a highway ride, it comes as a bliss
4. Easy handling _ irrespective of its 142 kg, due to its lesser length hornet is quite easy in squeezing through gaps
5. Decent pillion seat compared to most recent 150/160cc sporty street fighers
6. Dashing taillight _ still hornet taillight is the best among mosttt other under 300cc bikes on Indian roads
7. Braking _ good enough for a 160cc Machine
8. Seating _ upright seating position is a bliss for long rides along with provided proper handlebar position
9. Wide tyres _ enhancing the beast look, biggest in 150/160cc segments , provides the best stability
10. Vibration free _ till around 110 kmph _ one of the best thing about hornet

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Having ridden my friend's hornet for quite a bit yes the hornet definitely pulls stronger post 80kmph compared to the fzs fi which I own, thanks to the extra power, torque and the 13 more cc definitely helps , but the refinement level throughout the rev band of the hornet is nowhere near to the fz fi. I felt that the hornet's refinement is quite low according to honda standards compared to the unicorn and the x blade .You will see maximum comments and reviews both on youtube and xbhp saying that the fz is a very underpowered bike in its segment and the hornet is quite unrefined unlike other honda engines, no matter how much the fanboysOriginally posted by #bpk View PostVibrations update:

want to sugarcoat these two facts these are the harsh reality of these two bikes & even the big review channels like powerdrift say the same.
Every machine has its own pros and cons nothing is perfect in this world.

True, i am also unsatisfied with hornets smoothness, but nobody believes me! Only you have spoken truth today. And yes, everyday on open city roads in morning i ride in 88 to 90 kmph, and this motor doesn't feel strained only refinement is a bit of concern [emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]Originally posted by Rajdip Saha View PostHaving ridden my friend's hornet for quite a bit yes the hornet definitely pulls stronger post 80kmph compared to the fzs fi which I own, thanks to the extra power, torque and the 13 more cc definitely helps , but the refinement level throughout the rev band of the hornet is nowhere near to the fz fi. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
According to me, Smoothness is nothing but ,du u feel the real smoothness while cruising in mid range, that's the matter... irrespective of comparison with other bikes, sensing even minor vibes doesn't make sense... After al we are riding bikes not cars...Originally posted by Rajdip Saha View PostHaving ridden my friend's hornet for quite a bit yes the hornet definitely pulls stronger post 80kmph compared to the fzs fi which I own, thanks to the extra power, torque and the 13 more cc definitely helps , but the refinement level throughout the rev band of the hornet is nowhere near to the fz fi. Still I can say hornet is best in smoothness in it's midrange and quite powerful post low RPMs...
Also no one told as hornet is perfect, it got it's own flaws, but those are negligible for me

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
As far I have ridden the hornet its not as smooth as the other honda engines but the vibes are quite bearable and one can easily live with it, I think because of honda increasing the compression ratio to churn out more power but sticking with a 2 valve head caused this issue, look at the same engines which is detuned like the unicorn 160 and the x blade are smoother, its just my theory it may not be true.Originally posted by #bpk View PostTrue, i am also unsatisfied with hornets smoothness, but nobody believes me! I would like to suggest you one thing I have no such vibration issues on my fz fi but recently I have switched to shell advance ultra 10w40 fully synthetic oil having used the yamahalube and motul 7100 10w40 I felt the shell ultra made my engine a tad more refined, If you have not used this oil you may give it a try on your next oil change although I am not sure it will help on the hornet's engine or not.

Most of the hornet users users will use their bike in the city in bumper to bumper traffic 80-90% of the time and thats the low and mid range zone where the hornet lacks a bit of punch so whats the use in although it may requires a bit of effort for few frequent gear changes in the traffic its manageable after getting used to it. A guy who wants to cruise on the highway properly would first of all never buy a 150-160cc bike that too with a 5 speed gearbox.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostAccording to me, Smoothness is nothing but ,du u feel the real smoothness while cruising in mid range, that's the matter... irrespective of comparison with other bikes, sensing even minor vibes doesn't make sense... Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Actually the less power delivery in low RPMs/linear power delivery is the only and major drawback people are complaining about, that's why I said hornet is not perfect either..Originally posted by Rajdip Saha View PostAs far I have ridden the hornet its not as smooth as the other honda engines but the vibes are quite bearable and one can easily live with it, I think because of honda increasing the compression ratio to churn out more power but sticking with a 2 valve head caused this issue, look at the same engines which is detuned like the unicorn 160 and the x blade are smoother, its just my theory it may not be true.

But it's
Manageable in low RPMs
Good in mid range
Decent enough in top RPMs
As I got habitual with it's character, am familiar and ok with the linear power delivery and found it sufficient for city ride and good enough for highway rides
Only thing I personally felt is, why I bought a 160cc rather than a 200 to 300cc Machine [emoji3]
As I got bored with this power and wanting more...
