Yeah, sure it has my attention.. With its power to weight ratio advantage.. Will see how it performs in Indian road

It's looks are refreshing as well (but, not a fan of round headlamp)

Will see, in next few years... There gonna be numerous choices for choosing from...

My experience of Hornet's roughness at higher speed is in comparision with my earlier super smooth 2005 Unicorn. After many, many days I had a long ride on highway today & I found engine becoming rough after 83 kmph. This may be due to today's cold weather or the engine getting smoother. It is not as bad as you may think. Ride more before coming to conclusion.

I think his bike has some problem - either a worn out bearing or some defective part. But yes, Hornet is not as butter smooth as unicorn but its more like smooth and raspy/throaty like the Suzukis.

You call it being butter smooth, I call it being under-powered.

Unicorn was really butter smooth. During those days Pulsars felt too unrefined. My Unicorn clocked 120 kmph. Similar power output like Pulsar 150. No power issue.

I think his bike has engine balancing issue.

I'll add to it by saying the low end pulling power sucks.... seriously...Even though the mid and high end torque are great I like it but I feel the bike just struggles so much with a pillion like it is choking. Specially in Bangalore where roads are mostly not plain and have inclinations and with traffic...I have to keep shifting to 1st gear just so the bike pulls. And in second too I need to twist the throttle while holding clutch halfway and it groans till it finally gathers the momentum. I really feel like switching to a higher cc bike..

Felt exactly the same... Am also from Bangalore

Underpowered in low RPM is the only major drawback of Hornet

Though I got habitual with this character of engine (frequent gear shifts in low RPMs) , still I have to admit the real fact rite...

Do you feel the same on similar bikes like FZ, Gixxer, .....?

How come smoothness and underpowered are same? Both are of different things rite Underpowered is the engine's struggle in power delivery.. whereas smoothness is cruising the speed without engine harshness

In those bikes the power delivery (PD) is somehow delivered proper across all REVs.. unlike hornet, PD is biased towards mid, top range...

My dad's Honda shine feels great in low RPMs better than fz, hornet

Never do this. This is not good for the engine and will also wear out the clutch plates faster. It is always quicker to downshift than to slip the clutch. Never use half clutch.

He meant other folks called it refined and smooth
But he himself felt like it's way too underpowered.

Try older Hornet(15.6 bhp type, not the 14.9 bhp type) in good condition to see if it is as bad as you have experienced. My bike doesn't seem to be as bad as you have mentioned. Look wise it is way better than the competition, I think. But it is not as butter smooth as the earlier Unicorn. All these depend on perception/sensitivity......
Handling is very good on smooth roads, much better than Unicorn. All these factors matter. I am ok with this bike except the low end feel and lower top speed.
