What I think is, Honda may designed hornet, CBR inclined towards tourer section, that's why given their potential on mid and top range rather than low end...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes, in highways hornet doesn't feels stressed even with pillion, i always tour with heavy pillion and luggage , and it cruises happily. For reference, i am of 80 kg+ pillion= 70kg+ luggage= 7kg.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostWhat I think is, Honda may designed hornet, CBR inclined towards tourer section, that's why given their potential on mid and top range rather than low end...

Yes, bike is 140/142 kg... So it has to manage.. moreover having wider tyres gives better stability propelled by 160cc engine with trademark Honda smoothness... So it should be a nice ride...Originally posted by #bpk View PostYes, in highways hornet doesn't feels stressed even with pillion, i always tour with heavy pillion and luggage , and it cruises happily. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Maybe that's true for the hornet (or maybe because they couldn't increase power without increasing the peak RPMs, or because of the fat rear tire, they had to play around with the final reduction ratio causing it be a bit weird), but they intended the CBR150R to be a mini track tool for Asian countries like the R15, hence the top oriented power. CBR250R was meant to be a learner bike (easy to ride and comfortable) in developed countries and at that time, Honda was having a different strategy for India, they launched it in India.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostWhat I think is, Honda may designed hornet, CBR inclined towards tourer section, that's why given their potential on mid and top range rather than low end...
As for the gear shifting, Hondas for me have always been smooth from the CD100 to my unicorn 160. But shifting into neutral is an art on a lot of bikes, over time you'll eventually find the right technique and you'll find yourself easily switching to neutral.Originally posted by aishwary23 View PostThanks, I've noticed this too, that when the bike's off it easily shifts to neutral. I'll keep that in mind.Last edited by Shashank K R; 11-13-2018, 11:38 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I bought Kovix KN1 Disk Lock from Flipkart
Storage on bike, near rear foot-page
Price: Inr. 1429/-
Keys: 3 keys with 7 leavers.
My review:
This is big, solid and fluid operation lock. Fits perfectly. It is much bigger than Chinese disc lock locks, weights more than 250g.
I liked the lock for finish and strength. If you looking for lock go for it, don't try cheap Chinese locks, they are weak and some people complained of keys getting stuck.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
So far I completed 5 services for my hornet and done 15k odo...
I thought to share about mileage figures of my Machine...
If constantly maintained three digit speed --- 38 kmpl
In city harsh ride - 40kmpl
In city proper ride - 48 to 50 kmpl
In highway (below 75kmph) -- nearly 55 kmpl
In economy range (below 45kmph) without much stress on engine -- beyond 55kmpl
Well, if properly handled hornet is a better mileage yielding beast and is surprising despite of 160cc power...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Just after buying the bike, I filled up 8litres of petrol. Now ODO reads 325 and bike's still not in reserve. That is around 40kmpl mileage with city riding (frequent gear changes and braking), which I think is good (is it?) for a new bike, as mileage becomes better after 1st/2nd service.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostSo far I completed 5 services for my hornet and done 15k odo...

During the initial times ,I got much lesser mileage , post making services the figures are becoming better...Originally posted by aishwary23 View PostJust after buying the bike, I filled up 8litres of petrol. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi guys,
I've completed 8k kms on my 2k18 version. The engine is noisy. I showed it to the mechanic at service center, he rode the bike and said that's all right. But, I feel harshness in the engine. I feel like I don't want to accelerate it, it's that harsh.
I know the valve noise and started to notice it when the bike is being idled or at 3k rpm while holding the throttle stable.
But, I also hear other noise like the trr noise at 3.5k plus rpms, mentioned in some post above along with the engine sound while accelerating. The mechanic said it's quiet normal, but I know it isn't. I frequently clean and lubricate the chain. It ain't chain noise as well. Sprockets are still healthy. I'm not able to capture this noise as it's audible when riding and only to the rider.

I've also experienced that kind on noice while riding. I hear it mostly when I'm deaccelerating.Originally posted by winturf99 View PostHi guys,

Maybe it's because of engine braking?

I also hear the trrrr noise while accelerating hard in 6 to 7k rpm. Looks like 2018 models also have quality issues [emoji22][emoji22]Originally posted by winturf99 View PostHi guys,

I hear it when accelerating. Decelaration, I didn't face that issue. That noise you mentioned, is engine breaking.Originally posted by aishwary23 View PostI've also experienced that kind on noice while riding. I hear it mostly when I'm deaccelerating.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I tried to record it in stand still, but other than valve clearance at idle(which we notice when we concentrate), I couldn't capture anything as the sound I hear is while riding and I don't think it's feasible to capture it in Hyderabad streets while riding. But, I guess you've got an idea of what I was trying to say. It's like a parallel sound along with engine sound.Originally posted by #bpk View PostCan you please post a video on engine noise, it'll be helpful.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes, i also feel trr sound at high rpm . It comes along with normal exhaust sound. For me at 6 to 7k rpm, exhaust sound+ trrr sound, it's more audible if we close the helmet visor. My helmet is steelbird freelive. I think your helmet is also same ( green color) isn't it. I thought it may be because of inlet and exhaust ports in my helmet, but now i am confirmied that it's engine sound.Originally posted by winturf99 View PostI tried to record it in stand still, but other than valve clearance at idle(which we notice when we concentrate), I couldn't capture anything as the sound I hear is while riding and I don't think it's feasible to capture it in Hyderabad streets while riding.
