Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
For 2k kilometers honda mineral of rupees 250 is good enough, you can try tvs semi synthetic oil ( red coloured bottle) , it costs around 290 rupees for 1 litre. Ohh.. i forgot, rtr needs synthetic oil, try honda throttle 10w 30, it's a good oil.Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostBTW How good is mineral oil ?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My bike jerks while accelerating in 3-5th gear at lower rpms ( 3k-4.5k). It’s almost like the bike is gonna stall and stop. Also, gear slips out of transmission under hard acceleration (happens at 5th gear only). What might be the problem?

Check the condition of air filter. If it seems to be clogged then replace it immediately.Originally posted by irfanlskr View PostMy bike jerks while accelerating in 3-5th gear at lower rpms ( 3k-4.5k). Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Bro, the problem is my bike seat clamp got stuck , so it will be harder for me to take out the seat and fix it back..Originally posted by Aswinlogi View PostSimilar to gowthamh installation on his hornet .It's probably called as ladies handle !!
That's why i don't use to open my seat frequent,
Only during bike service times, those service people open it and fix it back in a not-so-easy manner...
That's why I can't able to click pic of it...
Better, you can ask in the nearby Honda service about fixation.

True. But the Ashwin has a relatively new bike and in under warranty so he should stick with the throttle itself, for now.Originally posted by #bpk View PostFor 2k kilometers honda mineral of rupees 250 is good enough, you can try tvs semi synthetic oil ( red coloured bottle) , it costs around 290 rupees for 1 litre. Low compression bikes can but it doesn't mean that they should. Not sure if you have previous experience riding a motorcycle with engine oil changed for so long but the engine oil grade becomes fully blackened out and the viscosity becomes way too less even to smoothly run the engine. I've had enough bikes (100-110cc range) to test the theory with and know already. Once my dad's old CD100 didn't have an oil change for 3182kms. There was a seize. And when the oil was drained, it was like curd. Just black and gooey curd. There isn't much of engine oil use difference between a Hornet and a Splendor. Which is why people (mostly using mineral oil) have the bar of 2500kms for a safe change. You'll be fine changing the Honda throttle at 2.2 to 2.3k kms on Hornet too. I speak from experience. Honda SVC tops up the oil at times and it goes for a little more without issue. Anyway, you should play it safe and do what the ASVC sks you to. Remember though, the more you abuse the engine, the quicker the engine oil takes it's toll.Originally posted by #bpk View PostFor low compression engines like splendor, glamour or unicorn 150, mineral oil works nicely for 3k kilometers, but for relatively high compression air cooled engines of 160 4v, hornet etc it can only be used upto 2k kilometers. Honda svc head technician also advised strongly to change mineral oil at 2k kilometers in hornet.
ashwinprakas and I change at 2.5k to 2.7k kms on our CT100B and Splendor Pro respectively. We use 20w40/50 which usually lasts a bit longer when in comparision to grade 10 engine oils.[My Motorcycles]

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I previously used to change oil in my super splendor at 3k kilometers and oil was still good, but as my engine became old i used to change oil at 2k kilometers. I used hero 10w 30 oil, it3 a very good oil for both hot and cold climate in my area.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostTrue.
