I thought it may be because of inlet and exhaust ports in my helmet, but now i am confirmied that it's engine sound.
Exactly. Mine's the same[emoji2]. I hear it prominently when the visor's down. The mechanic here refused it as normal. Please let me know if you could find any solution for it. I'd be glad to get the same checked at ASC, by pointing out the issue.
I'm planning to shift to Honda Throttle till I complete the warranty period and then shift to Shell FS 10W40. Is it required that we need to get the oil changed in ASC at every service during the warranty period, or can we ask them to not do it, so that we can do the oil change ourselves.
Also, please suggest if I need to change the oil filter and any other components when shifting to FS for the first time.

According to manual, the oil filter needs to be cleaned at 10k kilometers. Use 10w 30 Honda throttle, I've heard that it's a very good oil. Don't go for 10w 40, because of this thicker oil ,pressure will be created in the internal seals of the engine , and when you'll go to mechanic they'll open the engine in order to replace the seals, will do more harm then good. If you use mineral oil then change at every 2k kilometers , and in synthetic oil change every 4k kilometers. This will keep your engine healthy. No need to use engine flush before switching to synthetic oil, your engine is new and clean. You can also try tvs 10w 30 fully synthetic oil used in apache.

Same sound i am also getting at certain rpm with respect to gear change.

FS oil last till only 4k kms? I thought it would last upto 6-7k kms at minimum depending upon riding conditions

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'll use Throttle till I'm done with warranty period. I think Throttle will last for 6k kms, but I'll be riding in bumper to bumper traffic most of the time, so will change it based on the oil quality.

I've completed 8k kms on my 2k18 version. The engine is noisy. I showed it to the mechanic at service center, he rode the bike and said that's all right. But, I feel harshness in the engine. I feel like I don't want to accelerate it, it's that harsh.
I know the valve noise and started to notice it when the bike is being idled or at 3k rpm while holding the throttle stable.
But, I also hear other noise like the trr noise at 3.5k plus rpms, mentioned in some post above along with the engine sound while accelerating. The mechanic said it's quiet normal, but I know it isn't. I frequently clean and lubricate the chain. It ain't chain noise as well. Sprockets are still healthy. I'm not able to capture this noise as it's audible when riding and only to the rider.
Maybe valve clearance check , tightening of shims will mute the noise that you 'd been mentioning !!

Ok. I'll get this checked once at the service center. Thanks!

It can last upto 6k kilometers, but for healthy engine changing synthetic oil at 4k is good according to me ! It's upto you, how much you want to run, some people even run mineral oil upto 4k kilometers.

I don't know where you got this information from. A lot of hornet owners from a riding group I know have used 10w40 for 30-40k+ without any issues.

In a city with heavy traffic and relatively high temperatures (25°C+), 10w30 is not suitable at all. The engine heats up quite a lot and NVH levels go up.

If usage is mostly in traffic infested areas or for high speed cruising, don't stretch any FS oil above 4k kms. Mineral oil lasts for around 2k in similar conditions IMO.

That "trr" sound, I remember having something like that on my unicorn at 80-90kmph. I later realised that it was normal, as I heard a similar sound on Gixxer and now on my FZ25. It's hard to describe, but I would say that the engine is "grunting". I don't know if it's the same sound you guys are hearing.

As for the "oil filter", it's best to clean the strainer and the centrifugal filter every ~10k kms (or whatever is given in the manual). Most mechanics/SVCs don't do it out of sheer laziness.

Yes, you r right, I've seen that above 25 degrees temperature my bike feels rough and below that in morning it feels smooth. I also hear trr sound in 6to 7k rpm that is in 80 to 90kmph.

And one question, after how many kilometers one can switch to 10w 40 oil.

Incorrect. You do not want the mineral oil to run for 3k. It'll just damage the engine. While it can run upto a max of 2.5k, changing it at 2.3k is always a wise choice.

For low compression engines like splendor, glamour or unicorn 150, mineral oil works nicely for 3k kilometers, but for relatively high compression air cooled engines of 160 4v, hornet etc it can only be used upto 2k kilometers. Honda svc head technician also advised strongly to change mineral oil at 2k kilometers in hornet.

Yeah I too found it yesterday , LoL seems no difference between two engines . BTW we can't decide with those results and can't assure that would be same for all bikes of different brands yet. He (errie) too mentioning the same!!
