Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Good to hear that you’re having no issues with your REH & lovely pics. I’m guessing that you covered around 500km each day for the trip? Looking forward to further updates in the future.Originally posted by Darth View Post- When Life throws you a curve, Lean into it! -

Hi Amal,Originally posted by amal716 View PostHi Guys,
Can you suggest some place/shop in Bangalore where I can get the Knuckle guards and LED light fittings for Himalayan?
Thanks,
Amal
Hi,
You can go to JC Road/Lalbaug road at Thirumala motors. They do have Knuckle guards and LED lights. I got a 3 way mount crash guard specially made for Himalayan from them for 1500 bucks.
BTW, for knuckle guard you would need to raise your handlebar becasue if you don't then it will touch the windscreen while taking sharp turns and also while locking the handle. I am yet to find a good option for handlebar raiser hence haven't put the knuckle guards yet. Let me know if you find any good option?
Regarding LED Lights, I am not a big fan of changing the lights to other than stock. However, I have seen many RE Himalayans have that and they do look good and are easily available also.
Also, would like to know about your experience owning RE Himalayan
Cheers!

Amal, for knuckle guards you can try Art of Motorcycles (AOM), they have some nice and sturdy ones with a proper metal bracket.
PS : I'm not associated with AOM in anyway, I have used there product and I'm more than happy with the product.

Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hello Fellow riders!
I observed a gap between chassis and right side panel in my New REH. Showroom people are telling it is common in all these Motorcycles. It was actually present in 2 other bikes that I checked at the showroom. Can anyone confirm about this claim by them? If it is really a common thing or there is a problem in the lot which the showroom had received?

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Yes,
Same problem in mine as well. Even I went and complained. They said its common. Looks like a manufacturing defect

It's there since Himalayan's first lot. And yes the gap is there in all the bikes except few of having no gap. I guess bikes with no gap are faulty.
they ignore everything else unless it is about paint job. if there's mfg defect they will call it robust design even after knowing the bikes sold in India by RE are no match if compared to same bike sold international markets by RE. In India they don't have to follow standards because It's India (No proper regulations set by govt.) And we only want Bang for the bucks.
So they neglect these mfg defects to cut the cost.
Just like that..Originally posted by hasankakal View PostThey said its common.
Me and my friend now don't even get bothered by seeing such defects in RE bike. Now we got used to it. Its Enfield after all."The Answer, My Friend,

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
The gap you see shouldn't be in the first place, but RE being RE that's how it is designed. There is a prominent gap on the side panel plate which is held by four allen keys, present in all the Himalayan, but yours seem a wee bit more than the "normal gapping" Check the allen keys for tighteness and if they're all set, that's how it is. The plastic is of cheap quality and bulges out due to heat. Nothing to worry.Originally posted by ravishkj View PostHello Fellow riders!

I do not know if it's your case, but there have been cases of battery incorrectly mounted, inverted.
In addition to producing the effect you found, it is also dangerous.
Take a look at this link:

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
The link says the battery was installed upside down, it wasn't installed upside down, it was reversed meaning the wires were stretched and installed. Yes this can cause arcing shorting if the positive terminals graze with any part of the body. The last pic in the blog is the right way to be installed. When you remove the seat, the negative should to be your left and the positive to your right.Originally posted by flicka View PostI do not know if it's your case, but there have been cases of battery incorrectly mounted, inverted.

Thanks Rajen,
I will surely check it out. I am not changing the stock lights, I want to add some additional LED or fog lamps.
As far as my experience with RE Himalayan goes it is a mixed bag. Initially I had lot issues from oil leak to battery not charging due to magnetic coil failure (twice even the replacement they put in had issues) and the gears being abnormally tight. But after 3-4 services it is better now. The riding position and quality what made me stick to it despite the niggles. Done with 20k km now.
Thanks,
Amal

This seems to be common issue. The panel is made of plastic and when climate is hot there is a tendency for it to bend. Don't worry much about it. The bike is made for riding in extreme conditions so don't worry.

Congratulations buddy.. happy and safe milesOriginally posted by sparky View PostHave been waiting for sometime to try to wrap my head around this, but finally got home the Himmie BS4 with ABS . Going through the run-in, runs smooth, even at 100kmph, quality has gone up by leaps I would say, of course compared to my bullet.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan
Hey guys please guide me for buying saddle stay for my Himalayan, wish to use saddle bags rather than panniers. Have short listed three:
1. From Monish Patel, aka Monty price around 3000/- , fits where Royal Enfield's saddle stay's fit
2. From Zana International, price around 2500/- , non retractable bottom fold out, fits in the silencer fittings
3. From Donowyn customs, around Rs 5000/- , made of stainless steel, retractable bottom fold out, fits in the silencer fittings.
Is bottom retractable fold out important for upswept exhaust of Himalayan to save the saddle bags.
Please kindly give your valuable feedback
