I have clocked 600+ kms on the odo and have got my first service done. The engine on my bike overheats far too easily after riding for about 10 kms, so much so that it's hard to even touch it. What could be the reason for this? Also, once the engine does heat up a lot, it's really hard to maintain idling. First gear feels like it could stall any time. Is this a serious issue with the bike or should I wait for a while and clock up more kilometres before coming to any conclusions?
Hey ! It's normal... It's a 200cc engine it will get heated up... And it's never good to touch engines when/just after running.

What worries me most is the rough handling (stalling and hickups on lower gears) when it gets hot.. what do I do about that?

Faced same problem on my 2018 hornet. It'll get resolved after 1st servicing. It's usually common in new bikes.

Guys ! On the highway, typically cruising at 100-110kmph I observed twice that I'm getting a mileage of about 31-32 km

I checked by filling up the tank, and checking distance when it hits reserve and dividing by 10L of fuel.

With the speeds being maintained, is 31-32 an acceptable mileage on the highways ?

Yes... that’s normal... you can’t expect more for those speeds.

What is the normal RPM when the bike is doing 100-110 KMPH?

TVS heating!!!!? my friend get your engine oil level checked sometimes company adds engine oil more than 1.2 liters which results in engine heating.
I've been using the rtr200 for the last 11 months and did 13000kms still i never faced heating issues. (even was stuck in stop and go traffic in peak summers the rpm didn't rise up over 2000rpm )i hope it works out

This is because rtr160 4v has highest compression ratio among air/oil cooled motorcycles. Higher compression ratio = high heat generation

Pal actually he’s in the running in period. It’s common until the first 1000kms. But if the problem persists further should check the ignition system. One of our group member had the problem and got it solved by replacing the ignition unit on warranty.
And about engine oil level, usually low engine oil levels leads to engine heating. Higher level of oil will leads to catalytic converter damage and excessive oil spillage in air filter thru crankcase ventilation.

Can you tell me this may be the reason
                            1. We park vehicle outside and temperature in Bangalore at night time is 22 degree

But if the outside temperature is the reason why it occurs when we park vehicle at underground and in day time ?
Two weeks is far too late, but I can perhaps tell you what was going on.

(Background - I own a 3 month old RE2.0, faced the same issue, live in Bangalore)

TVS gives a very lean carburettor on delivery, and SVC will only change it to the optimum level at the 2nd service. Your friend might also be experiencing some irregular detonation (missing, if I may) when going on throttle. He would also be experiencing the ridiculously high mileage numbers of 40+km/l in Bangalore. And he would probably note distinct vibes at about 65-75 km/h in top gear.

Well, in the second service, they'll tune it to be at the ideal ratio, the bike would be smoother, the acceleration would be better, there would be no missed beats, along with a realistic 32-ish km/l in Bangalore city. After this you shall no longer need choke to start up in the evenings, although a choke would be recommended in a cold start situation.
In my case, my bike returned about 20 km/l immediately after the 2nd service, for about 300km, and then that number gradually picked up to a stable 35-ish now (in city traffic, about 1500km after 2nd service), although I am not sure on why the fuel efficiency picked up as I ran.. I rode it out on a highway recently, and got high 30's at 90 km/h average.

On the negative side, I miss the cracks and burbles during engine braking.

EDIT : 1st line, 'is' to 'was' :-D

And my third gear shifting is really hard compared to other gears which are really smooth. 3rd gear makes loud katt noise when I upshift. It's just 1500 kms and these two are persistent right from the start.
Get your clutch free play adjusted near the clutch lever and check your clutch cable adjusters near the clutch case (right side) held by two nuts, they should be properly torqued, else the clutch cable will get loose over time and result in hard gearshifts and clunky gears. Get the clutch play checked/adjusted and the clutch cable adjuster nuts near the clutch case torqued properly.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                              THE END
