While slowing down for traffic signals from a distance, I drop gears one by one so that when I downshift, the RPM is 3.5-4k in the lower gear with throttle fully closed. (For example, downshift from 5th to 4th at ~45 kmph, RPM increases from ~3k to ~4k or 4th to 3rd at ~35 kmph, RPM increases from ~3k to ~4k) Will it do any harm to the clutch or transmission??

Chill buddy, RTR's can take a lot of abuse than any other engines I've worked upon. No harm in the way you shift down. Enjoy the bike to the fullest.Originally posted by ayrus View PostWhile slowing down for traffic signals from a distance, I drop gears one by one so that when I downshift, the RPM is 3.5-4k in the lower gear with throttle fully closed. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I have the habit of slightly revving up (just a small blip of the throttle as the clutch lever is being pulled in)as I downshift. Developed this habit while driving my 2 stroke since this would lead to a more jerk free downshift.
Are there any downsides to this?

Coming from a 2T background, I do it till date with all the bikes. Revv Matching is not harmful.Originally posted by jomson13 View PostI have the habit of slightly revving up (just a small blip of the throttle as the clutch lever is being pulled in)as I downshift. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Touchbasing with the earlier topic on the slipper clutch, rev matching does the same, matches transmission speed to the engine speed which effectively equals the force and hence a smooth downshift. Do it right, and it's a joy to reckon with. 2T or 4T it's the same process, aiding in smooth shifts.Originally posted by jomson13 View PostI have the habit of slightly revving up (just a small blip of the throttle as the clutch lever is being pulled in)as I downshift. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I became proud owner of RTR 200 2.0 ABS (Gifted) last sunday. This is my 1st 200 CC ABS bike. I have few questions that might have been answered already but will appreciate if you guys enlighten me.
1. Is Saree guard Footrest available for this variant. If not, is it possible to make minor changes in the existing guard as I want it in any case. Anyone knows where can I get it in Pune.
2. What kind of care need to be taken to keep the bike shining.
3. I face cold start issue in the morning. Is it normal and is it ok to use choke. Sometimes I face issue to stalling/low rpm issue while starting the bike after 9-10 hrs.
4. 1st free service is due in next 150 kms so need suggestions about engine oil. How is TVS Fully synthetic oil. Does using oil other than TVS void the warranty?.
5. Will the bike performance be affected if I soften the rear suspension by 1-2 step?
I must say for a '13 RTR 160 user RTR 200 is a boon. It feels like you are not riding but floating. The comfort is unmatched and I get cravings to ride it more. Hoping that this experience is not ruined by improper service of ASC.

Quite disappointed to have Carb with this beautiful peace of art.Originally posted by Zapps View PostDo share your experiences

Pushed it to the hardest.
The beautiful part is:
1. It has superb handling.
2. Feels perfectly balanced to cut through the traffic.
3. Comfortable seating and easily reachable switches.
4. Gear shifting is not that smooth at low lower speed.
I was riding Activa 3G for past two years and that used to feel under power and imbalanced in traffic but RTR even after having 1.5 tons of weight feels light. I had to ride my friend’s Maestro for 90+ km of journey. I had few difficulties finding the horn switch. This realises me how adaptive is RTR with its perfectly placed switches and ergonomics.

Second - you touched 130 kmph on a new bike? Also, I hope you had more than just the helmet when you did that speed(Indian rulebook makes the speed you clocked as illegal).
Third - I believe you wanted to say 1.5 Quintal(150 kilos) and not 1.5 tonne(1500 kilos).Regards,
