Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Once even I had felt the same and had gone to ASC, for my confirmation they removed all the oil and measured it in a measuring jar. It was ok. They told me that oil should be checked before starting the engine as if we start the engine once then oil will start splashing and we will not see the actual quantity at dip stick. Next day I checked before starting the engine and it was ok.Originally posted by rakowli View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Also I would humbly suggest you to read through your manual. Details regarding how to check engine oil quantity (among many other things) are already given there.Originally posted by rakowli View PostOK let me check it today evening before starting the bike.
Moreover, whenever you give for service ask the SVC if they have an express service option. That's what I did. Told those guys that there was no way I was leaving the bike unsupervised for service. They offered me express service ... might cost more but you would gain peace of mind since all the thing like the initial test ride by the mechanic (higher chance of any abuse being done) etc would be done under your supervision.
Then stood by the customer viewing lounge like a hawk for 2 hours to make sure they didn't screw with the bike. At the end of the service they are always some things you can double check on like for example engine oil, if the levers and gear linkages are greased etc. You could check the oil using the dip stick right after they finish the service before the test ride to signoff is done by you. Then if you have any doubts about the quantity used you can tell it to them on the spot.
I had in fact even insisted that they use a new unopened bottle by breaking the seal while replacing the engine oil.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
One more thing, I hope you have the latest user manual.Originally posted by rakowli View PostOK let me check it today evening before starting the bike.
We have to screw in the dipstick to measure the oil level, not just dip it.
In my user manual, it is given do not screw it to check oil level but in updated manual ,they have suggested to screw in the dipstick to check oil level.
New

Old

Can we ask dealer to change the manual? Ankur.R sent me the updated one, before that I had visited SVC twice based on my user manual method of oil check. Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
to all friends, I need some info & am intersted in Apache 200 4v.
1) In top gear, at what rpms it does 80 km/hr, 90 km/hr and 100 km/hr?Kindly reply with rpm and speed.
2) What fuel efficiency one can expect by consistently riding at 90-100 km/hr at 5th gear on highways?
3) Is the windblast tolerable at 100km/hr?
I had a test ride for 4 km, felt comfortable.but i could not ride long in free roads to get this info.Help me. You can reply in this thread or PM me or you can reply in my "what bike" thread - "A bike only for Touring under a budget of 1 lakh to 1.7 lakh rupees""If you care enough for a result, you will most certainly attain it."

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
I was right the engine oil level in the bike was less. It was little below the maximum level almost near half between mAximum and minimum level. So i topped it up with the oil i was having. I have completed 3 servicing with them but now i doubt they used to put less oil so for all the servicing the oil level was less. Better i should stop the servicing from them and go back to my trusted mechanic. Anyhow whatever fault is there you come to know within the first 3-4 months of ownership. and as per my experience with this bike i dont this there will be any major fault now. The normal wear and tear parts are anyhow chargeable at the SVC also. So for me this might be the end of servicing from SVC. If not then the 4th servicing will be last anyhow.

Hi there!
It does 80 at around 6-6.5K rpm and 100 at around 7-7.5K In top gear. #It performs superbly in this range. I have never streached it over 7.5-8K rpm or 105 km/h.
