Better decelerate slower than usual. Seems like rapid deceleration.

Upgrade your rear tyre size that might help, I changed my rear Dazzler tyre from 110 to 120 and the rear stopped skidding considerablyOriginally posted by vins1120 View PostHey any idea about how to rectify the rear tyre slide during braking

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
I'd echo what Vijay has said above. No amount of tire upsizing and electronic wizardry would help if one doesn't learn proper braking methods.
Rear brakes aren't meant to stop the bike. It's the front brake's job! There is a big rotor on the front wheel for a reason. Avoid relying on the rear brakes to grind you to a halt because all they do is lock the rear and then off you go - sliding!
Follow 80:20 or 70:30 (front : rear) braking and you'd be absolutely fine. Practice braking in parking lots and empty bylanes.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
So...
I completed 200km on the bike and that's when the disaster struck. I was cruising at 45 kmph and a bus infront of me which indicated left turned right. I panicked and pressed the front brake a little more than i should had. Due to the dirt on the road the bike skid. Protective instinct kicked in and I somehow managed to fall at only 2-3 kmph.
Long story short
Scratches on exhaust
Any solutions?

I'm Using the one which is provided by TVS.That's works fine ,but you can try motul c1 chain lube.Originally posted by rakowli View PostCan anyone please tell me which is a better chain lube for use? The one which i am using is not that effective. It is a bit thin so drys off faster than the earlier one.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Hi Vivek,Originally posted by vivek.kumar View PostHi guys ! Completed first service at 534 kms. Experience has been very bad after service. I am facing a host of new problems.
1) Bike makes a whining noise when decelerating ( i.e when the bike is running on its momentum without any throttle). When I press clutch, sound goes away. I am pretty sure that the noise is not because of engine braking. It wasn't there before service.
2) Rotating the rear wheel ( after putting the bike on centre stand ) makes a "tak tak tak" sound. It comes from front sprocket.
Even mileage has dropped significantly after 1st service. Took my bike twice to service center after 1st service, still the above mentioned problems are not resolved. Petrol leaked from fuel drain pipe, but thank god at least that was fixed ! Bike was much better before service.
Anyways, has anyone tried Motul or Shell engine oil ???
Regarding your 1st point, did you happen to sort out that whining noise you mentioned?
Had my first service done recently, and even I hear the same noise, especially when I let it engine brake after reaching 70 kmph or above. The noise is only when I decelerate after crossing 70 kmph, not below.
I was under impression it's from engine, like some friction noise, not from gearbox.
Also, I experience some vibs at 75-80 kmph, though didn't expect that going by the reviews. Is it common with everyone, or I might be stressing the engine, given it's only 950 km on ODO? Btw, I crossed speeds of 60-65 after first service only at very few instances. Mostly try to be below that.

First, I hope you're ok, with minimal scratches. Else, see a doctor soon.Originally posted by ApacheCrazzy View PostLong story short

If scratches are on the exhaust shield (and too deep), you can order a new one. If light, you can just get them painted (not spray painted though, as they would peel off in heat). If scratches are on the end can, then getting them repainted (heat resistant paint) is the only option provided its fine internally. A new end can is costly (~10k).Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Hey thanks for the fast reply. Nothing happened to me. Thank god.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostFirst, I hope you're ok, with minimal scratches. Else, see a doctor soon.

Now about the bike
I went to the mechanic to be sure that no internal components were damaged.
He insured me that none were and the scratches were superficial. I can't shell out 10k for two scratches though. The two scratches are minimal and I'll most probably get them painted.
Thanks for the information!

Hey.. Check the chain. If the chain is too tight. It makes whining sound while decelerating.Originally posted by raman5864 View PostHi Vivek,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Hi Vivek, I too faced exactly the same issues after first service as mentioned by you. I thought it might be problem with clutch plates. I took the bike to service center but they could not resolve and I did not allow them to check the clutch plates since they might spoil the engine more (I had bitter experience with my other bike). So, finally made myself to live with the whining sound. 15 days back I did 2nd service of the bike, they topped up engine oil instead of changing it. The sound was still present but after around 2600 Km on the odo the whining noise suddenly minimised. I am extremely happy now, the bike became very smooth and also became like the one before first service. I do not hear any unnecessary sound from the bike other than the normal operating engine sound.Originally posted by vivek.kumar View PostHi guys ! Completed first service at 534 kms. About the "tak tak tak" sound from the front sprocket, I have resolved it myself. I took the bike once to the service center and they just tightened the chain. The job did more worst than good. They have tightened the warm running chain and so when I unused the bike for some time, the chain cooled down and contracted and it became so tight that horrible sound was coming from the front sprocket. I had to go home from office at around 10kmph fearing the sprocket would damage. Then I decided to keep the chain adjustment to myself only. Bought "number 21-22" spanner and adjusted the chain to moderate tension, kept 1-2 inch of vertical slackness, lubricated the chain and finally the sound minimised. Now the bike is running super smooth without any "tak tak tak" sound.
So, just wait for around 2500 km or 2nd service, the whining sound should minimise. Hope this helps. Cheers...

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Hey guys!
After almost two months of searching for a motorcycle, my search has finally stopped. Many decisions and points kept in mind, Apache 200 it is now! The other option in around for 1L was Pulsar 220F. Took the TD for both motorcycles today, Pulsar 220 being that nostalgic motorcycle I always wanted to buy did appeal in terms of initial torque but quality and the new updated feel wasn't there like in the Apache 200! Loved the Apache. The bike is available in stock in gloss white, matte black and matte red. I had a few questions:
1. How is the matte black colour considering the scratches visibility during the daily use? Else I'm thinking of Gloss white.
2. What are the standard tyre brand? They are quoting me 1.12L with TVS Remaro and 1.17L with Pirelli tyres.
Hopefully finalizing by today and maybe getting in day after. fingers crossed! :x

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Well I got my rtr 200 with matte grey and honestly speaking I would take any of the gloss options in a heartbeat. From what I understand about matte paint scratches are not that easily visible on it (due to the science of how scratches are visible in the first place to a human eye) but I am more worried about what can be done after the scratches occur. It seems that its not really possible to remove scratches on a matte paint. You cant polish and then wax the relevant panel back to its shining glory because well...matte is not supposed to be shiny in the first place. So sand the whole panel and then repaint it again for which you need to procure factory spec paint (not even sure if that's possible here). Also I have noticed that its really difficult to get matte paint care products in India. Few companies that sell them ask for astronomical prices (eg about Rs2000 for a 500ml Matte shampoo just because the damn thing can remove grease and dirt without giving a gloss to the paint). So expensive to maintain and difficult to repair in case of damage; needless to say its one thing I hate that TVS did with this bike. Take gloss if my humble opinion. You wont stand out but atleast you can maintain and repair it should anything happen.Originally posted by superfarer View PostHey guys!

When i got mine only Remora was being offered at Rs1.09lakh in Bangalore. Not sure why your prices are higher. Being a novice rider I find them sufficient. But you cant go wrong with the Pirellis (they were Rs5000 more). They are amazing for riders who can utilise the bike to its potential. But make sure that they give you the same brand on both the front and rear tyres. One member here had reported that Kubera Motors Bangalore had cheated him by giving Pirellis on the front and Remora on the rear.
Hope this helps.
