I have booked a TVS Apache 200 4v at Hare Krishna TVS, Mumbai. I learned that the bike has been allocated yesterday. I will make the rest of the payment tomorrow. I wanted to know what I should check at the time of the delivery.

Apart from the basics, do check out the PDI thread.Originally posted by lone_wolf7508 View PostI have booked a TVS Apache 200 4v at Hare Krishna TVS, Mumbai. After receiving quite a number of PDI queries on numerous ownership threads, I've decided to amalgamate my experience, articles, snippets from different sources, from around the web into a single concise article, for folks who are getting their first two-wheeler. This post is not just limited to motorcycles, but should serve as
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Seen it long time ago. Afaik it was inconclusive. Both ways of run-in don't show too much difference initially. Needs to be a mix of both with gentle acceleration. 0 to 100 can be 20 secs and not 6 secs. Then it makes sense.Originally posted by ayrus View PostI too did 114 twice at 300-400 kms and 120, 127 at around 900 kms. Also did 132 at 1500 kms. At all other times I ride at less than 6k RPM. It is too early to decide. Also the bike had 136 on odo when I bought it. No idea how much the SVC guys rev the bikes while servicing. But I believe it won't do much harm.Check out the MC garage video on engine break-in.

But 7100 does not have 10w30 or 5w30. Closest grade which is available is 10w40. I'm not interested on 5100 as it's only semi syntheticOriginally posted by ayrus View PostMany people are using Motul 5100 and 7100 on their 200 4v. 300v is an overkill for this bike. No idea about other oils.

Don't go by the mineral/semi-synthetic/synthetic thingy. You can actually use the 10w40. People are even using 7100 15w50 (though I'd recommend to stick to the grade) on this bike.Originally posted by msrb1984 View PostBut 7100 does not have 10w30 or 5w30. I guess that your bike is new. It's better to stick to the stock oil for 1 year or 12k kms (till the free services are over).
If you want, I will DM you the link of the Apache 200 WhatsApp group. You'll get to know more about engine oils there.

Have a look at Idemitsu Fully synthetic oil 10w40 also. I heard some good comments from many local mechanics in my area. The price is around Rs.425/ltr which seems to be lesser than some semi synthetic oils.Originally posted by msrb1984 View PostHello,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Thanks....mine is just a month old. Reason why i want to move out of stock oil, I drive 70 km a day and feels stock oil is not doing good for it. Moreover stock is also synthetic oil, so there should not be any problem in switching to other brand.Originally posted by ayrus View PostDon't go by the mineral/semi-synthetic/synthetic thingy. Looks pretty neat, eh?

The stock mount is not very suitable for clip-ons. Hence got this custom made.
What do you guys think?
I have been planning to do so for a very long time but couldn't, could you please help me of the attachment you have used, how did you get the custom one.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Need to install it on the handle column so need a little help. As I will be going for a solo ride of about 2000 km. Need info regarding the custom bracket used for attaching the mount in between handle bar.Originally posted by Al Quazi View PostHi all,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Well my bike is in the showroom since last 10 days
Here is the history for last 10 days
Delivered the bike for service on 13th to local svc at 23450kms
Note given that bike was miss firing so told to clean the carb
15th sat bike was given back saying air screw is not opening and they donot have any spare right now so will call when the spare arrive
But after taking the bike home it was not in running condition as rpm were going haywire and not reducing even after pressing the clutch .so it was accident prone.
So raised the complaint to tvs on their twitter handle which was registered on sunday the 16th.
On Monday the 17th delivered the bike to svc and told to correct the bike and the. Only deliver the bike as it was not rideable.
Got a call on friday about the bike from a guy regards to bike that still the air screw is not opening and carb needs to replaced and will be done by company cost.
Today is 24th and still waiting for the bike. ...
