Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Hi I faced the same issue few months ago on my RTR 200 too. It is easy to fix by just cleaning the front sprocket area and regreazing the area again. It is basically due to the muck or mud and debris that gets thrown into the front sprocket casing by the chain's movement and mixes with the grease in there. As it accumulates it seeps out of the casing and drops in to the stands. Besides please check the if the engine oil drain nut is tight enough which is right under it, this can be dangerous if the engine oil is draining out. Do get it checked but my guess is most likely the other case where muck could have accumulated.Originally posted by Lalith View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
This is not an issue. This is the motorcycle not being cleaned properly. Extra chain lube dripping from the front sprocket and dirt as well. Clean the bike well, clean the chain.Originally posted by Lalith View PostHi Guys,
I've crossed 14500+ kms with my RTR 200. Overall the bike has been performing really well with few niggles though.
One issue that has been troubling me for past few months is the oil leakage near gear shifter and chain sprocket.
Not sure if there is any broken oil seal near the chain sprocket or if that relates to any improper adjustment of the gear sensor, Irrespective of whether I lubricate my chain or not I always noticed some oil leakage near the gear shifter, which also flows through the bike stand (both side and main stand). Also this oil seems to flow though the chain and sprinkles on the rim of rear wheel.
Last time when I got this checked with ASC, the technician there mentioned it might be due to improper adjustment of gear sensor and has adjusted it. It was fine for first 200-300 kms. But the issue started again.
Any suggestions why this issue could be and how to resolve this. Also did any others face such issue with this bike.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Guys,
Does anyone here have a mobile holder installed? If yes, Can you recommend a good one?
I've seen multiple models online but I doubt they would hold the phone in place strongly.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Thanks for the feedback guys. I usually lube my chain for every 500-700 kms. So may be this issue is due to extra lubing also.
And Haressh. If I remember correctly even this issue has started for me sometime after first service only. But it was minor then. I used your technique too. By using centre stand mostly and not side stand. That didn't help though.
I'm yet to take my bike for first paid service tomorrow. I'll get this checked there and will update you all with their feedback

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Got my first paid service done at an ASC here in Hyd. And it costed me 1260₹ (644 for Engine oil + 616 for Labour). Can some one please clarify if they are also being charged 600+ just for service labour cost for RTR200.
And regarding the oil leakage issue, the ASC technician also assumed that this oil leakage might be due to over lubing the chain. He checked the front sprocket and also removed the gear sensor. Behind the sensor, he noticed a faulty watcher kind of thing (not sure what it is called, couldn't take a pic also) fitter under a screw and had replaced this. This watcher has a projection which gets in contact with various points on sensor and then detects the gear position.
After complete service he cleaned and lubed the chain. The issue seems to be solved as for now. But it's just a day passed and i cannot conclude that it's permanently solved. Will keep an eye on this and will update you guys

Bro why don't you try Honda Hornet 160, take a test ride and then decideOriginally posted by rockxdude View PostDon't know but after reading facebook user reviews looks like Gixxer service center is not up to date and can cause problem. I guess depends totally on a particular service center.
Pulsar is very common nowadays, but let's see which one I finalize

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
All bikes have trouble, the Yamaha FZ 250, The Apache, the Pulsars all had glitches which are slowly being ironed out. If you are the kind of person who doesn't like high tech and want yourself out of FI trouble you can definitely go for the carburetted variant of the Gixxer. The Gixxer has one of the best built 150 cc in terms of quality and overall oomph after the R15. The 150 cc mill is tried and tested and performs quite decently, but again it's a commuterish engine with a bulky body work, that's pretty much it FI or Carb both provide the same output. If you feel, you SVC might give you nightmares regarding the service of the bike, or you are the fill it, shut it, forget it type, definitely consider the Carb variant, it's cheaper, efficient and looks cool.Originally posted by rockxdude View PostGuys, need an honest suggestion.
I am looking for 150CC bike and finally decided to get the Gixxer SF FI. But just read the review on Suzuki fb page and found out that many users are facing problem as the technology used in gixxer are advanced and Indian mechanics does no know it and after services users are facing lot of problem.
Should I get gixxer or apache 180 or 200? Or should I look for Yamaha?
Will not get pulsar as it is very common now. Duke is costly.
If you want something more bang for the same buck as Gixxer 150, Apache 200 is a fantastic handler, handles far better than the Gixxer, the engine is very very refined from the old grinding mill Apache, just an all round fantastic machine.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Not really, tho the apache definitely has better performance, I doubt it has "far better" handling than gixxer. The gixxer is one of the best handling bikes in the segment, can even give some higher displacement bikes a run for it's money on the track.

Personal opinion based on 3 test rides and 1 long ride. RTR200 is way ahead of handling than any 150cc segment. For me closest is FZ25(I haven't ridden R series) but it lacks that perfect throttle response(0.2-0.5s delay). If handling is my priority RTR200 is the only bike in my head(under budget).

The best ones are from RAM mounts a bit more on the expensive side but really VFM.Originally posted by kgdinesh View PostGuys,

His requirement is 150cc not 200cc and response time in seconds wouldn't matter for him, i don't think he is gonna use it for raceOriginally posted by vinayus View PostPersonal opinion based on 3 test rides and 1 long ride. My response was specifically for this ===Not really, tho the apache definitely has better performance, I doubt it has "far better" handling than gixxer.===Originally posted by Neerajvayu View PostHis requirement is 150cc not 200cc and response time in seconds wouldn't matter for him, i don't think he is gonna use it for race
I personally feel RTR200 handles better than any 150cc I have ridden so far.
I do agree response time wouldn't matter for most, just my opinion from experience.
I check whether its needed or not. I wash every 15days so I lube it(RTR160).do I need to lube the chains each time I wash my bike? I lubed it 1 week back and today I have washed my bike
