Hi My bike has done around 8500 kms but I have changed the gear sensor around 4 times but still the problem persists. Does anybody facing the same problem?
It shows Neutral when I am in 1st/2nd Gear which is very confusing.

After 1 week of usage and about 150km after last service, gear sensor issue is not there.

Today had a funny ( purely sarcasm) incident. I was riding at 80kmph in 5th gear in highway. As signal turned yellow/ red in front of me I tried to down shift gear and was surprised to find that the shifter is not there . Luckily traffic was less and I was able to take the bike to side of road and stop it. the shifter was found hanging below foot-peg. Possible root cause is , it might have been removed by service mechanic to clean chain front sprocket and he didn't tighten it properly.

My bad time I didn't have the required spanner (10mm) with me and no roadside repair shops were open at that time. re-fixed the lever by hand and rode the bike for about 20km to office.

Got one lesson from today's incident - keep at least tools supplied along with the vehicle with us always. :-)

A lot of owners are facing this issue including myself. If not all, this issue is present in atleast half of the bikes.

Ok thank you bro for your response on my question....

Actually I'm planning to buy a bike... Considering RTR 200 as my one of my top priority option but worried about these kind of issues.

And I'm waiting for the FI, ABS version to release... Do you know any information on that?? May be in that version they may fix these kind of issues....

                Hi Ram,

The gear indicator is a very minor issue. If you look at the other aspects such as engine refinement, handling, display console, riding comfort etc., RTR is better than similarly priced rivals.
I believe that people have complained only about the gear indicator and chain related issues. Hardly anyone is observing the major issues like engine vibration, unexpected breakdown etc.

You can easily go for this bike. Wishing you a happy ownership experience in advance .

Also, It would be better if you can get the Pirelli tyres for this bike. They are worth every penny.

                Thanks,
                NS

I have faced and still facing the gear sensor issue. This is the only issue that RTR 200 has faced majorly as per what i have searched or seen on site. Have changed the sensor once and i think i need to change it again this time. Earlier i had the same issue as your i.e. neutral light on and still the bike is in gear was having problem in searching neutral gear. But after changing it had gone only to reoccur again in a reverse order. Now i am able to find the neutral gear easily but the indicator shows 1st or 2nd gear and rarely show neutral light. Because of this if the bike is shut off and again when i start it shows gear error and the bike doesn't start. I have to press the gear lever to start the bike and that creates problem many a times. As it doesn't recognise the neutral gear and so doesn't start instantly.

                      Guys, need an honest suggestion.

I am looking for 150CC bike and finally decided to get the Gixxer SF FI. But just read the review on Suzuki fb page and found out that many users are facing problem as the technology used in gixxer are advanced and Indian mechanics does no know it and after services users are facing lot of problem.

Should I get gixxer or apache 180 or 200? Or should I look for Yamaha?
Will not get pulsar as it is very common now. Duke is costly.

                        Advanced? Like what? Jet propulsion?

Get the bike which suits your requirement buddy. Gixxer is a pretty good Motorcycle.

advabced means FI & other tech , so buy a bike without FI . You should consider Pulsar also , its very good bike

                            Hi Guys,

I've crossed 14500+ kms with my RTR 200. Overall the bike has been performing really well with few niggles though.
One issue that has been troubling me for past few months is the oil leakage near gear shifter and chain sprocket.
Not sure if there is any broken oil seal near the chain sprocket or if that relates to any improper adjustment of the gear sensor, Irrespective of whether I lubricate my chain or not I always noticed some oil leakage near the gear shifter, which also flows through the bike stand (both side and main stand). Also this oil seems to flow though the chain and sprinkles on the rim of rear wheel.
Last time when I got this checked with ASC, the technician there mentioned it might be due to improper adjustment of gear sensor and has adjusted it. It was fine for first 200-300 kms. But the issue started again.

Any suggestions why this issue could be and how to resolve this. Also did any others face such issue with this bike.

Don't know but after reading facebook user reviews looks like Gixxer service center is not up to date and can cause problem. I guess depends totally on a particular service center.
Pulsar is very common nowadays, but let's see which one I finalize

But i still wipe off oil from spokes of back wheel.
