Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Multiple acctually. We have a group of dominar owners. We ordered one so that we could then make a bulk order after testing. Its weak, feels bad in hands, wheels are not upto the mark . What other purpose does it serves if it doesn't these .Originally posted by bala13 View Post

Please RE- research your source of informationOriginally posted by mechnizmo View PostLooks good. Here are the ratings to consider when buying a helmet in order of preference:
1. Sharp rating. 4 and above is excellent. Wouldn't suggest anything below 4 as they aren't rated road safe.
2. DOT. If not sharp rated, look at a helmet that's DOT certified as a second option. It's the American safety standard and is a pretty high benchmark for riders road safety.
3. ECC - The European equivalent of DOT. I'd keep this as my last preference.
4. ISO - Don't even bother. Your be safer in a watermelon.
There is no such thing as ECC or ISO
The correct spec/rating is ECE ECE R22-05 and I think you meant ISI (our Indian standard)
And remember some are self declarations.. i.e. the helmet was not actually tested by a common regulatory authority but maybe just by the manufacturers' themselves.
I see a lot of folks throw the ISI standard under the bus, maybe because they fancy 'imported' maal.
Helmets from reputed Indian manufacturers such as Studds/vega that confirm to ISI specs are also pretty decent.
Other factors such as the shell material also play an important factor in an helmets' reliability. So obviously a fiber glass shell one costs much more.
So get one that you can afford keeping in mind the basics and your safety/appetite for risk.
What one should keep away from are local 'brands' with an isi sticker slapped on! And there are plenty of fakes around of reputed international brands that are made in china, look flashy 'premium' with the stickers of various ratings slapped on, but don't hold as well as they claim to be.

I don't need to re-research anything. But I do need a new phone. The broken glass makes typos a lot faster.Originally posted by s1d View PostPlease RE- research your source of information

As far as the ISI standards of safety go, they are way below standard motor vehicle safety standards internationally. On a moped / 100cc bike, they might work for city commute. For a reasonable faster bike, I'd rather purchase something safer than "roll eyes" over safety.
Anyway, it's a free world. I chose my safety. You have the freedom to.yohr opinion and your choice.
Let's keep this about the beautiful motorcycle and not helmets.

Agree ur uni body design looks more sturdy, but this one is also being in use from a long time. Saw someone using it on cbr250. And under right fabricator it can not go wrong. And that fellow in our grp is using metal wheels.Originally posted by ROHAN SPEEDOFREAK SHARMA View PostBut this is weak and not clean work , at all!

Cbr and dominar no not have the same weight sir, and leave all those things i mentioned, just think if you are getting something more sturdy, with antirust primer, better paint and better wheels in just 150 rs more , whats bad in that? These products are still a 1000rs cheaper than standard product . This product was shaking when bike is even a little bit ratteled on it. Thier is NO science in it.Originally posted by Ijs View PostAgree ur uni body design looks more sturdy, but this one is also being in use from a long time. Saw someone using it on cbr250. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Guys it seems have a problem with my handle bar. It Feels stiff and gives me a weird feedback. 😕😕.
Makes me lose confidence while steering the bike. It feels like the front tyre is running low on air but the tyre pressure is as recommended, Checked multiple times.
Bar end weights are in place too.
Went to the SC but it did not resolve.
can anybody tell what's the exact issue?
THANKS.

This is my first bike. I'm pretty sure I won't be spending 50% of my bike's value on a helmet.Originally posted by mechnizmo View PostHelmets range from 2k to even 90k. Really depends on how much you want to spend. I've found helmets worth 5-7k to be equally great in quality as the 30k AGV's. In fact, my AGV cracked faster than the LS2 since it was a lighter helmet. Check out Scorpion, X-Lite or Shark for their helmets. Source them from the US or German stores. For India, look at LS2, AGV, HJC or even a few from MT.
I'll check out the brands you mentioned.. Thanks!

Almost same thing happened to me twice. Used kill switch to shut off engine, and changed gear from 1st to Neutral. When I tried to start the bike, it jerked as if it was in the 1st gear. Going to mention this to Bajaj Service Center at the bike's 1st service.Originally posted by Amey108 View PostHello all,
Yesterday a strange thing happened. While coming back from office when I dropped gears to neutral the bike just went off as soon as i released the clutch as if I was in a gear. This happened twice before reaching home. Well this is concerning me hoping it's not something major as it's only been 2 months since I bought her home.My first bike, Dominar!

That is quite odd. Never faced this issue or heard about it from fellow owners. Do let us know what the reason for this was when you get it fixed at the service centre.Originally posted by sourabh.note View PostSame here. I don't use facebook either.
